I can’t believe how fast my nails grow when I’m on holiday - does the sunshine or different diet play a part I wonder?

Knowing this always happens I’ve pre booked an appointment at the nail salon for this Thursday morning when I will get these irritatingly long nails snipped off!

utbb not quite the birthday meal you usually have, but hopefully you can go out and dine when it is cooler.

Many years ago, after I moved here, I decided I was no longer paying to have the valuable items (junk) stored in lofts and spend a fortune moving it. My loft is totally empty. The "stuff" is in a double bedroom, and slowly I am wading my way through it.

I still have heaps of my mother's towels, still in good order and she died in 1979!

The trick is to downsize drastically as we did and leave things with your children ‘just for now’. We did retrieve a lot, some we simply forgot 🤣

mawsrosie DD2’s littlest was born while they were having a huge extension built on the ground floor of their house. Fortunately they were staying at her mother in law’s at the time,but littlest was three months old before they moved back. That extension took 6 months. This one is scheduled for three months but we’ll see! The stuff is in the bedroom only because it’s spare duvets etc.
Some years ago our garage accommodated the contents of our next door neighbour’s old kitchen, while they had a new one installed. Naturally it took many months longer than planned.

A cautionary tale indeed, a good thing that mum’s have garages and don’t put their cars away!

They are having a loft extension starting tomorrow so had to clear out the stuff stored up there. It’s now in the back bedroom here for the next few months

DD3 and her husband started a loft conversion about 6 years ago, it over ran and littlest DGS.was born at home in the middle of it all. The contents of their loft went into our garage, taking up about half of it. They fell out of love with it all, largely because of Covid, materials stuck in the Suez canal and because their builders subcontracted some of the work . Dd and SIL are perfectionists and their design was unique and they were not happy with the standard of the finish.
Anyway they put the house on the market, moved to a bigger version of the first house, but a do-er upper and it’s been a work in progress for the last four years.
And yes it has a loft but somehow the contents of the first loft are still in my garage.
A cautionary tale

FGT a bowl of cereal had been my birthday meal.
A far cry from the meal out I usually have but it was just what I fancied.
In bed now with a book.

Another hot day today with a lovely cool breeze. Windows are open and the curtains and blinds are flapping about. I went for my usual walk first thing, then did two loads of washing and got them dry. Just a few t-shirts to iron tomorrow.
Dd2 and family came over early afternoon, bringing bags of spare bedding which had been in their loft. They are having a loft extension starting tomorrow so had to clear out the stuff stored up there. It’s now in the back bedroom here for the next few months. Dd1 couldn’t come over, she has hurt her leg and can hardly walk, her DH and the 11 year old were at a birthday party, involving an assault course and a lot of mud. He called in to borrow a pair of crutches for Dd1, he’d had a brief shower but said he’d need at least one more to feel clean!

A nudging 30 degrees sedentary day here. I did iron as early as I could haul myself out of bed then sat with a fan blowing on my back to sort some admin. Other than that and arranging some food not a thing. fgt you’ve taught me well 😊

Mr C sat in our at pizza oven hot conservatory for three hours moving ahead with his latest jigsaw. I did and am challenging his sanity and certainty his common sense. There’s no hope!

We’re wandering out along the coast to visit a pier in the morning. The forecast is less hot with a strong wind. Bliss!

I’m sat on my little balcony having showered off my suncream and applied lovely cool after sun lotion (I keep the bottle in the fridge 😉) and have just eaten a bowl of cereal with cold milk - just what I fancied! I wasn’t hungry enough to dress and go downstairs. Sometimes the simple things in life can bring the most pleasure can’t they?

Thinking of all in the quiet corner tonight - and wondering how Blossoming is faring and other friends not posting at present.

Hello kitchen people.

Another hot day but ‘only’ 29 degrees.

I didn’t leave the house until 3.30 pm when I was due to do my stint on the WI stall at the village festival. OH and daughter had a look earlier but I didn’t want to go out in the sun until I had to. For some strange reason the organiser of the festival changed the weekend (the same one for years) to this weekend a couple of years ago, when there is a big event in a nearby town and Wimbledon. He has agreed to think about changing back as attendance wasn’t as high as it could have been.

I made a spag Bol and salad for lunch. We finished off some strawberries and cream for pudding and then had homemade orange ice cream and lemon ice cream.

I’ve just had a salmon and cucumber roll. There was a little salmon left over from yesterday’s barbecue so me and the cats shared it.

I can’t say today went to plan and it has been an odd day but things happen as we all know.
I am now going to have a glass of red wine and an early night.
I hope my 90th next year, if I get there,goes more smoothly and more to plan😉

Ham salad. Should proof read

Is it flying ant day already? I must have a look outside. I nipped to dds to check for mail. Then hoovered again with my new shark. Simple things. Emptied and loaded the dishwasher and did a small washing and got it hung out. Dinner was a lovely jam salad then a deconstructed trifle ie jelly with sponge fingers in it and a little cream on top. All very nice. I wanted a glass of fizzy wine so took a bottle of cava out of the fridge. The blooming cork won't budge! It'll have to wait till dd returns home. Lovely photos Grannmarie

Hi all, marvellous breeze today, the blinds have been dancing about noisily and last night, after the great football, was cooler too.
Sat out for a while until flying ants started, that meant a swift move indoors.
Has a chat with Imogen, she has a p/t pub job but would like more hours, she has an interview Tuesday for a supermarket.
Our grandson is living the summer life at a local to us shallow river a bus/train ride from his home.

I have been reading on my lounger in the shade in the garden for most of the day #lazygran (you have taught me well FGT2)

DH will cook lamb steaks in the BBQ, I will sort the jersey royals, green beans and baby broccoli in the kitchen. Definitely eating outside in this glorious weather.

It’s been warm but breezy in Suffolk and I have dried 3 lots of washing. The 4th will go out shortly. We managed to weed one of the veg beds and pick French beans, courgettes, a few tomatoes and a cucumber.
I have been reading in the shade and breeze at the top of the garden. Sadly we think we need to have the walnut tree removed. It is about 30 ft tall, despite being pruned twice in the last 6 years. It is in the very corner of the garden and shades two neighbours. The canopy is very dense and has a number of wood pigeons nesting in it, who are real pests.
We would replace it with a lighter tree - we have a ginkgo which is ready to move out of its pot. It’s a shame as this is Walnut House.
Ironing awaits but it may wait until tomorrow …

It’s warm and sunny here too, I’ve been pottering in the garden for a while and then came in to do a few inside jobs. I’m a bit tired after a really enjoyable evening last night at the line dancing social, and then staying up with DH to watch the football

Thank you for the good wishes. We've been on the beach this afternoon, needed the windbreaker, very breezy but nice. We're relaxing on the decking now, enjoying the viewing across to the Silloth area. Wishing everyone the best possible Sunday.
