I’ve had a lovely day down at the beach. Once or twice a memory assailed me of Himself but mostly I was fine.

I’ve just had a shower and am sitting on my little balcony with ham, cheese and crisps. I’m about to watch an episode (another!) of Clarkson’s Farm. I’m halfway through Series 4. It really has me grinning at times - no bad way to spend a Saturday evening.

The Spanish will all be glued to their tv sets now …. ⚽️

Dear Grannygravy, I hope you do as you are told. Lots of resting.
I drove to the health centre to pick up my prescription, but have rested for the rest of the day. It's much too hot for me and my feet are very painful, so lying reading suits me fine. The Shark hoover was delivered but I havent taken it out of the box yet. A job for tomorrow. I hope everyone is OK.

I was called into the GP surgery today, I had an hour being monitored by one of the practice nurses, and then amazingly thirty minutes with a lovely kind lady GP (not mine)

After much negotiation and promising to rest, take meds (more steroids, higher dose) monitor my vital signs including oxygen levels I have been let out on parole.

It is going to be a very quiet few days here at Gravy Grange, so I apologise in advance if I keep popping up on GN threads 🫣

I think it is official as I have "lost it". I slept well and lept out of bed after 9am as I wanted to be ready for the District Nurse. Put the dishwasher on and emailed a friend hoping she enjoys Wimbledon ladies final and to look forward to England v Norway tonight.

I had a niggle because Coronation Street is rarely shown on a Saturday evening. I asked Alexa and she put me straight.

I am not looking forward to today. The heat may rise to mid 30's in my part of London. Birdbrain will enjoy the rest of today.

I should proof read before I post - we interred my sis in law’s ashes, not interviewed them!
fgt well done for eating alone, I can manage a coffee on my own but that’s all.

H kitchen pals, it’s been very warm here today, I didn’t do much really but the day passed quickly. It was too hot for me in the garden but DH has been busy most of the day. I’ve kept him supplied with cups of tea and biscuits, an ice cream this afternoon too.

My dgd is also off to ‘big’ school in September. I’ve just seen her last school report #proud grandma.
Too hot for me, we’re not used to it here in the NE. Think we’re built for the cold 🤣

The birds ate all of my strawberries, gooseberries and blackcurrants. 🤬
They are taking the very small blueberries as they ripen. It has been pretty warm here today. I did my morning in the charity cafe this morning and I spent this afternoon on admin. I have done my on line CofE safeguarding course - I got 100%! So I should - I used to train our school staff!
Dentist tomorrow - yuk!

It’s still v warm and I’m in a sleeveless linen dress and my Haviananas which are lovely and cushiony and a godsend in this heat

France are about to play Morocco. The bar is rammed. I can see the entrance to the apt building from here so I feel quite safe.

We headed out today. An antidote to a broken tooth and a ridiculous situation with our broken dishwasher. I’ll not bore you all with it, suffice to say our toys were thrown with force from the pram and the issue has been escalated by the insurer.

Off we went to Dunster Castle which thankfully provided a courtesy bus up the hill. The temperature was just right, a cooling breeze, wonderful views. plenty of shade in the gardens and seats under trees by the river. Good for the soul. Then it was back via Watchet and a very good ice cream eaten on a seat overlooking the harbour which miraculously had water in it. A young seagull looked longingly at Mr C’s ice cream, thankfully it hadn’t worked out how to steal them.

We did come home to a boiling bungalow, door open front and back soon cured that. Back to reality tomorrow with my volunteer stint, the reward being a wander round an air conditioned supermarket after lunch.

It’s OK Charley we’ll send files into the prison 😂. This heat is going on a bit. We’re due 33 tomorrow, I’m hoping the breeze remains. Sleeping can be challenging for sure. I’m resorting to a frozen half filled hot water bottle for my feet. Bliss.

I love gooseberries grandmab, what kind neighbours you have. I’ll be checking in the supermarket tomorrow. Sunday pudding sorted.

grannygravy DD1, her DH and the 7 year old are watching the year 6 final school play this evening. No doubt tears are being shed. I can’t believe she’ll be off to senior school in September, like your 11 year old DGS.

I think today has been the hottest of this heatwave, it’s 30 upstairs in the bedroom and 28 downstairs. Outside it’s been 35 this afternoon, gone down a bit now. I’ e got windows and blinds open to try to get some air through.

My DDs, sons in law and I met up with my niece, her DH and some friends to interview my sister in law’s ashes. A lovely burial ground and I managed the slope down to the grave quite well. I didn’t end up on my face as I’d feared! Then we went back to sis in law’s bungalow for tea and cake! We all had a little browse of her hundreds of books and brought a few home each.
I’ve done nothing else apart from make an appointment for someone to to measure up for some blackout blinds on the big windows!
No point in trying to carry on normally in this heat! Sitting in front of a fan with a book is the best thing I think!

grandmabatty what a good thing that the rhubarb jam was quick to make! Fingers crossed tomorrow will be cooler for us all.

Watched the 11yr olds final primary school production and had a tear. Cannot believe he is off to senior school in September.

Ooft. It's hit 28! but the humidity has been awful. Today I nipped to dds to take in the food bin. I had made rhubarb jam first and can't believe how easy and quick it was. When I drove back, my lovely neighbours invited me over for a cup of tea and a blether. Two hours later, I left with a bag of gooseberries! They are the kindest people. This afternoon I didnt do much because it was hot and I was uncomfortable. I did make a curry for dinner. I know, what was I thinking?
However it was very tasty. Tonight I'm lying on my bed reading and listening to music. Hopefully tomorrow it will be cooler again. Enjoy your evening kitchen folk

Another sweltering day, MrJ had a nurse appointment, then we were in.
More tennis watched, my daughter called in briefly, she said school was baking, she was collecting her huge Harry Potter Lego kit.

When I went to bed last night I asked Alexa the T and she said 25C. That is the hottest it has ever been at that time. I did sleep unsurprisingly not as well as usual.

Today will supposedly be 34C and Thames water are having major issues with water supply, so I may emigrate.

I am doing as little as possible, nothing unusual there.

If another District Nurse tells me to keep drinking and elevate my legs I will not be responsible for my actions.

I am unsure what I will do in the evenings once the football has finished. I never watch usual matches, only every 4 years and at the age of 82 I don't know if I will be here for the next.

I have had cherries for breakfast, a pleasant change from toast.

I have to hang the washing out, it will be dry in 30 minutes.

Still 23 here and my west facing bedroom is like a sauna.
30 tomorrow and 33 for Friday.
Far too uncomfortable for me.
Any plans I have ,not many actually, are on hold.

The heat has just about reached us up here too grandmabatty but only to about 25° - definitely hot enough for me! I’m just home and showered after linedancing - luckily there’s aircon in the room so it was too hot. Hope the family are enjoying their holidays, it’s nice that you’re keeping an eye on the house. An expensive day for you though!
No plans for me tomorrow, hopefully I’ll be sitting in the shade in the garden for a while 😎

I’ve had a day of two halves really.

This morning our Yorkshire Lass rang me (she does, most days at some point) and I’d just been crying. She said”Let it flow, mum” and her compassion and empathy had me crying all the more.

Funny how a good scrike has you calmer and feeler better afterwards isn’t it?

When I went out to lunch later with my Glaswegian neighbours I had a lovely time.

How lovely to hear from Mr Soop.
Today it reached 28° in Central Scotland but I was inside for most of it. I managed to get a washing done and hung out. Then an ironing done. I hoovered too. Later I went to dds house to put out the food bin and check everything was ok. Much of the time I have been lying on my bed reading. I hope everyone is ok and coping with the heat. My fan died a death today so I have ordered a new one but it isnt available until next week at the earliest. I also ordered a new iron and a new hoover. It was an expensive visit to amazon!
Anyway I'm back lying in bed listening to 70s rock music and reading. Take care all
