Hello teabagwoman, good to see you.
Ouch neine, please get checked, itās sensible.
Yesterday was horrible. On my way to meet a friend the car broke down at a busy traffic light controlled cross roads. Not the place to block a lane on an A road. It just wouldnāt go into gear, any gear, even reverse would have been acceptable.
Iāll be forever grateful to the man in the car behind me who helped me navigate the complexities of the phone system attached to the recovery service. It felt like press 2010 if you are still alive. Told I was a priorityI wasnāt too happy to hear a low loader would be at least 90 minutes.
I think in that time I saw the best and worst in people. Much kindness and sympathy from passing Mums with pushchairs , offers of help from motorists, a cafe pointed out, an offer of a seat in someoneās home. The other end of the spectrum? What youād expect, obvious swearing, gestures, horn blowing. A car centrally at traffic lights with hazards on isnāt there for fun! I amused myself for a while offering such people the Paddington hard stare, some had the grace to look embarrassed.
Very pleased to see the recovery truck. The driver asked how much abuse Iād had. He then asked if I thought I could climb into the truck, my stick didn't fill him with confidence. My response was I had no idea but Iād try. The achievement of the day was climbing in and out twice.
The journey back to the garage was sort of fun, largely due to the drivers somewhat cavalier approach to other road users. It seems likely a big, expensive repair. The warranty expired in January. Of course it did! No idea when, Iāve been warned parts can be difficult at the moment, weāre busy re-arranging life to cope without a car and realising how much longer everything will take.
It could have been worse, the day before we were on a motorway, I could have been in the middle of the junction or on a narrow country road. Always something! Iām carrying a sense of guilt which I know is total rubbish, I was driving therefore my fault. Mr C is feeling bad he wasnāt there with me. Weāre both daft at times.
Other than that all is well š.
Iāve not been posting regularly but I do read every day and think about you all. Look after yourselves.
