Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 11*C.

Pleased to hear the stitch removal was painless R&L

We are a rather subdued household today. Yesterday, DH suggested, that after his nurse appointment, we go our for a run to Troon for lunch, now that he is able to drive again.
I was so looking forward to it, we used to live there and haven't been out for ages.

We were sitting in the waiting room, when DH's GP spotted him and asked why he was there. She said that she had put in a telephone call for him in the diary and would phone him before noon. I had a fair idea, why she was phoning.
Day out cancelled again.

She was true to her word, but phoned with troubling news, DH had a high reading on his bowel screening test and needs to be fast tracked to see the colorectal surgeon to organise a colonoscopy.
He has to go back on Friday for more blood tests. His extreme tiredness indicates anaemia, so that needs confirmed.
I have two medical appointment next week, plus a biologics delivery (which can only be signed for by DH or I) and was fretting about how to fit in DH's bloods appointment.

After explaining my predicament, instead of having to negotiate an appointment, the receptionist kindly asked me to tell her, what was the best day.
I have my controlled drug prescription to pick up on Friday, so Friday it is for the appointment. The receptionists have been so kind,
Combining both tasks, will save yet another trip through that troublesome junction.
Having no symptoms, means the result was a hugh shock.
He is very positive, but having gone through this recently, it has been difficult to process.

I decided that there was no point in telling my children until evening, rather than upset them at work.
I dreaded it all day. They were obviously shocked. DD phoned me immediately to see if I was OK.
DS1 was his usual cold self, initially only messaging DH and ignoring my messages..
Then later implying on the Dad chat, that I was being negative 😪
He got short shrift.

The good news is that DH's BP, although still high and causing concern, is slowly coming down.
He now has to record his readings on the NHS BP connect App

Hopefully today will be a quiet one. The weeds have sprouted up everywhere, so that will be a priority. The difficulty is, that I can hardly walk or bend at the moment. I have developed a strange, old lady gait!

Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning all and the sun is shining and the sea is sparkling. The wind has eased and everything is looking perfect, here on the Suffolk coast. I wonder how long for 🤔.

A couple of torrential downpours yesterday and then sun for the rest of the afternoon/evening. Again I was caught out in the summerhouse where the rain was deafening.

My neighbour took my into our tiny town and I shopped while she had her hair done. We then had coffee in the cafe there.
We caught up with all the local news. Everyone knows everyone here and everyone’s business too. 😅.

I’ll walk little pooch along the beach before the weather changes, then potter around.

Gagagran hope there’s better news from your db.🙏
Take care all and I hope your days are peaceful, gentle and enjoyable.

Good morning from sunny Cornwall. Another lovely day yesterday with DD and sister. A visit to the Minack theatre in its dramatic setting in the side of a cliff. The play was indifferent but such an amazing venue and we had seats in the balcony. Nearly got sunstroke, it was so hot. We have been so lucky with the weather.

Then a trip to Lands End followed by a hearty meal. Could have done with a doggy bag although my sister managed to finish hers. An earlyish night and this morning off to St. Ives.

Thoughts to R&L and Gaga

Good morning from a brightening NE after overnight rain.
The weather yesterday was dreadful, torrential rain and intermittent hail showers, heating was on and I wore a thick cardigan.
GD1 sent photos of her first day in Corfu, she and her university friends looked so relaxed.
DS had to leave work yesterday and return home to take GD2 to school for one of her exams. DIL developed crippling backache and was unable to drive, school is a thirty minute drive from home.

My sister, in Germany, messaged me to say she had another fall. She had been in a florists to get flowers to take to the cemetery. Passers-by helped her up and called a taxi, driver took her right to the grave and helped her arrange the flowers. I was amazed, never could imagine that happening in my town.

My younger sister and BIL are visiting this afternoon and will take me shopping.
Best wishes to those with sick relatives.
Have a good day.

Gingster Wed 10-Jun-26 08:12:38

Oh Marydoll it never rains but it pours!
Have a restful day today. 🙏

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast.

The consultant is pleased with the way DH's eye is healing. He is now waiting for a date to have the underlid on his other eye done and then he will have a cornea transplant in that eye.

Hopefully it will all be carried out this year. No plans for a holiday until he is fully recovered.

He is going to London today to meet up with old work friends. I have plenty to do here including a visit to our Accountant at lunchtime..

I hope you all have a pleasant day, best wishes to all xx

WhiteSwan63 Wed 10-Jun-26 08:13:59

Good morning from the east coast.
Mick my DH wants to see Disclosure day so we’ll go in a few days. Hope you enjoy it.

Yesterday early morning my uncle was taken back into hospital he buzzed to say he had chest pains. Yet again he was sent home at tea time. All bloods from the Drs came back ok just a raised infection marker but he’s already on antibiotics. We are all at a loss as to why he’s declining. Mum will speak to him this morning she calls him everyday. Nothing we do can buck him up.

Yesterday was my best friend’s 42nd wedding anniversary. It’s seven weeks today since she lost her DH. We sent her 2 slices of Victoria sponge cake and a lovely thinking of you card through the post. I was pleased with the words I had put in her card and she was so thankful we had acknowledged it even though he’s no longer with her. She had a busy day with family so wasn’t alone.

I also went for my range of blood tests yesterday to see if there’s a medical reason why I’m piling on weight. The results should come through in a few days.
Today I’m picking up DGS he had a great day on Monday. Hoping for the same today. I’ll either go to the gym or for a long walk.

Best wishes everyone for a lovely day. 🌼

Sending special thoughts to Gagagran and Marydoll who have lots of worries today and to anyone caring for poorly loved ones 💐

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. It will be another day of sun and showers I think.
Yesterday I went into town for some shopping before my visitors arrive today. Oddly, I couldn't get the meat joint I'd planned to have so am about to nip out to the local butcher in the next village and probably get my free coffee in the garden centre while I'm at it. They should arrive at dinner time but I'm a cynic! At least they're not coming up the M6 on a Friday afternoon which is definitely not to be recommended.

What a worrying time for you all Marydoll, I hope all will be well.
And for your brother Gaga, how unfortunate for him.

cornergran Wed 10-Jun-26 08:37:30

An incredibly worrying time for you marydoll. I’m so sorry there is more to deal with.

I’m about to put both feet in it here, but is there practical help you could source, say for the garden? Ease pressure where you can, have more energy for other things. I know it’s hard to let go, it’s not failure, simply sometimes needs must. In any case love to you all and my apologies if this has offended or upset you.

NannyJan53 Wed 10-Jun-26 08:43:51

Good morning from a cloudy but slowly brightening Black Country.

Mums hearing test confirmed her hearing had deteriorated which we knew, I could see she was not often pressing the button for sounds which I could hear sitting a few feet away! Issued with 'Ultra' hearing aids, but only so much Aids can do at 96.

Today I have a Dental check up at 12.15, think I need to ring them to explain that I am willing to keep it, but I do have a bad cold. Up to them then to decide.

Marydoll it does seem to be one thing after another. Love to you and your DH.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a forecast of showers and only 15°C this is getting ridiculous for mid June. I’ve booked flights to go back to Málaga at the end of June. Decided to use the apt there instead of here just ensuring I’m back for book club next month (especially as I chose the book to read ‘Four Seasons in Japan’) and the Boy Wonder’s 14th birthday, both mid July.

I nipped to the Trafford Centre yesterday. Bought 2 swimsuits from M&S and treated myself to a new leather cross body bag from Hobbs. Threw the old one out it was looking shabby.

I’ve got class this morning upstairs at the library, then meeting a friend for coffee in Starbucks in the square and early evening I shall watch L’il Miss at her swimming lesson. I’m going to start my day now with Burford Brown eggs (yes from Sainsbury’s) and crumpets (👋 EllanVannin).

That has me thinking of our regular posters Pantsglas, Blossoming and Madeleine - if you are reading ladies I hope your days are going well enough right now.

aggie Wed 10-Jun-26 09:01:35

Gosh it’s cool for flaming June here in Co Armagh, I hope the downpours we had yesterday go away today
Last meeting of our Club today , till September.we will have a quiz then adjourne next door to the pub for lunch , I’ll try to stay awake , no doubt I’ll get a nudge , my neighbour can’t bear to let anyone miss the craic
💐 Marydoll

I do miss Madeleine , and others who have disappeared

Good morning everyone from a changeable Northampton, one minute sunshine,.the next overcast. Heavy showers expected again today, just like yesterday.

Managed to clean the bathrooms yesterday, and then changed my bed, being very careful not to lift or bend down. I also swapped my spring duvet for the summer one as I see it will be warmer next week. The rest of the day was spent reading.

Mid-afternoon a friend arrived, delivering a bottle of pink Prosecco, which was a late birthday gift from another friend, so something to look forward to!

I made a pea and ham soup with the leftover roast gammon from Sunday, and there is enough left for tonight as well, also some sliced gammon left which will make me a ham sandwich at lunchtime.

A Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon completes my day

Sorry to read your news Marydoll, hoping for the best for your DH.

Ziplok Wed 10-Jun-26 09:09:01

Good morning from Sheffield
There are a few worrying posts from some grandnetters this morning. I hope that all worries are needless and that those of us are poorly recover well .
Well it’s a miserable old morning here.
I was freezing in the night. I have fished out my winter quilt again. There’s no point in being cold.
I have just prepared a chicken Moroccan stew for tea for the family tomorrow. I always think things like that are better the day after .
Then I am working all day.
Take care everyoneflowers
