Exactly that.
I thought it would be good to chat, and pick up information, though I never knew how much I’d appreciate it until I retired recently.

I joined out of curiosity really when I became a grandparent 12 years ago. I shall always be grateful to the poster who alerted us to the recalling of CPap machines due to the risk of inhaling polystyrene particles which could cause serious lung problems. Mr RLP had one and, after phoning the hospital, was told that his was one of the recalled ones. They said he should have been contacted, but he hadn't! No apology, but a, presumably, safe one was supplied. If it hadn't been for that Gransnetter, who knows what state he'd be in now. Whoever they were Thank You. thanks

Via MN which I didn’t like for all the cursing.

I was on another grannie forum when we joined up to search for a missing member ? Great gran ?
I flitted between both forums , no idea why I settled here

I came to Gransnet after spending time on Mumsnet which changed from being very very funny and witty to often just nasty.

I can't remember exactly how I found the GN site but Gransnet gave me a lot of interesting threads to read at night when steroids kept me awake for hours. Any question results in lots of useful advice and information. There are a few names I skip past...life is too short. I like that, even though we are so very varied, age wise, background and current life, our problems are universal and other GNs provide a different slant.
I spend too much time of course, but the weather is horrid today so I am having a long tea break.

I joined because my only child estranged me and so I don’t see my only grandchild.
That will be two years next week , I don’t really post , but every morning I look forward to reading how everyone is.
I live alone with my dog , he’s a cavachon and he keeps me going every day. Until joining gransnett, I never knew so many people are affected by estrangement.

Like several posters, I joined during Covid when I was finding it stressful looking after my late DH, his long stays in hospital, weekly/daily appointments to which I drove him.
After he died in ‘21, I stayed on and hope I have a few GN virtual friends. I’m still learning new things and often find everyday’s a school day.

I had heard of Mumsnet, but wasn’t on it as I thought it was just for young mums.

I then heard of Gransnet, and joined as I had a household query, and thought it looked a good place to get advice on things like that.

I look at it every day now, and post on threads that interest me.
