Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where, after such a start yesterday,we had heavy rain from late morning for several hours. That didn’t stop a really lovely time with Gingster for a few hours.

Today is my ‘ special ‘ birthday as described by our youngest DGC…..my 80th. DH is taking me out for lunch at a restaurant about half an hour’s drive away that we haven’t been to for ages and DS1 has arranged lunch on Sunday at a favourite place in Aldeburgh.

Our whole family celebration isn’t til the August Bank holiday weekend when the 3 DGC’s exams will be over, results known and next stages decided. Given our 8 range in ages from 9 to 20 we decided to take all 16 of us to Potters,an all inclusive holiday resort with a huge range of activities including golf, archery, swimming both in the sea and indoor and outdoor pools( I think)as well as craft activities and many more.

The younger ones are thrilled at the idea of endless ice creams, milk shakes etc.

Hope today is a good one for all with some sunshine for at least part of it. Now for my 2nd cup of tea and to read your posts.

Sending you a hug Gagagran 😿

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and dry, although cloudy. Gagagran I am really sorry to hear about your brother.
Yesterday was quiet. I did some tidying in the school library. I didnt stay long as the nursery was there, including dgs2. When I went to leave, he came for a cuddle and half the group formed a queue for cuddles too! The rest of the day was spent pottering about inside because of rain. I discovered a new series called Paradise which I'm enjoying.
Today will be a housework day, I think. I'm up later because I was awake in the night for over 2 hours. Eventually I got up and had a cup of tea. So nothing much planned for today. Have a good day all.

Marydoll Fri 12-Jun-26 07:56:29

Ash excellent news!

Jaxjacky Fri 12-Jun-26 07:56:29

Morning from a dry S Hants, yesterday was wet and cold.
I’m so sorry about your brother Gagagran not good news.
Yesterday was the nurse for bloods, did me quickly.
The first wash is on, grocery delivery pm, pub tonight.
Enjoy your day if you can all.

Marydoll Fri 12-Jun-26 07:55:10

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C. I feel dreadful, after getting little sleep. I was up at 4am, looking for painkillers.

DH has yet another appointment for bloods, first thing. He has asked me to drive, through that scary junction, which is odd. He usually insists on driving.

Normally, I would go to Sainsbury's or Silverburn on a Friday, but it will have to be Morrisons, which I am not keen on. However, it is on the way home and I am too tired to go anywhere.
They do have a very good fish counter, so it will be fish and chips tonight.

Nothing was done in the garden yesterday, due to the torrential rain. The ground is sodden.
Dobies had a online plant sale yesterday, I was seduced. I can justify it, I got £114's worth of plants for £44, I just need to find the time and energy.

Gaga, you must be heartbroken.♥️

Karma you are so skilled, I love the colour of your dress.♥️

Dragonfly, glad your DH was OK. Sainsbury's TU clothing have a sale on.--and I will miss it.~~. 🤬

I wish you all a pleasant day and as always, thinking of our mountaineers,

Gingster Fri 12-Jun-26 07:50:24

Good morning all and it’s fine here at the moment Suffolk by the sea.
Yesterday the rain started just as Liberty arrived 11 ish and didn’t stop for the rest of the day. We had lunch at the beach cafe (only ones there) and a lovely few hours chatting . Always good to see her.

I’ll strip the beds today and have a good tidy round. Take some things home that I have room for and hopefully see some tennis.

DS2 will be picking us up tomorrow morning.

What a wet week we’ve had but it’s been nice to be here.

Gagasgran so sorry to hear about your big brother.🙏.

Take care ☔️

Gelisajams I love Sandringham Estate, one of my happy places

Gelisajams Fri 12-Jun-26 07:41:48

Good morning from Sandringham where it is dry, and a better day weather wise is promised. It was so wet yesterday travelling down the east coast we didn’t stop for long anywhere.
DH is still snoring. He must be tired from all the driving. When he wakes up we will have another walk in the woods of the Sandringham Estate before moving on. The woods here are very different to the woods at home which are more dense and support a wide range of flora. Here there are lots of both very tall conifers and deciduous trees but the undergrowth is very sparse with ferns growing.
Thinking of all with troubles. Take care🌸

kittylester Fri 12-Jun-26 07:37:00

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

A gentle start this morning as we are going to Hemel Hempstead this afternoon to collect DGD2 AND 3 and bring them here for the weekend. Their parents are going to Dublin for the weekend with friends. They are easy to have around but quite lively. Wish us luck.

Have the best day possible everyone.

brook2704 Fri 12-Jun-26 07:29:31

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve blue sky with a few fluffy white clouds, hoping it stays dry today
Good news Ash so pleased for you
I’m off to the gym this morning, I should have been doing a couple of classes but I’ve just cancelled one of them, I’m not feeling that motivated just now After the class I’m meeting a friend for coffee, that’s the best bit! I’ll then walk into town, I’ve a couple of returns to take back yo M&S and then I’ll get the bus home
Gagagran so sad to hear about your brother ❤️
Thinking of everyone withw worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

monk08 Fri 12-Jun-26 07:27:46

NannyJan I like the sound of your mom's trip, I saw a programme the other day where a boat owner did trips with people from day centres and they all thoroughly enjoyed it. 🤞 with the cleaner sounds like she may be a keeper.

dragonfly46 Fri 12-Jun-26 07:27:17

So sorry to hear about your brother Gagagran.

dragonfly46 Fri 12-Jun-26 07:21:40

Good morning from an almost sunny Leicestershire.

Another drama yesterday when DH told me he had a black spot in his eye. I rang the opticians who saw us straight away and after many tests and drops he was told he was fine. Meanwhile we were caught in all the rain.

Hopefully today will just involve a trip to Sainsbury’s.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Redcar Fri 12-Jun-26 07:20:10

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy, dry and a little less cold this morning. The heating was on when I came home from DD1’s yesterday evening and has been on again this morning. We are forecast a drier and warmer few days thank goodness. The DGDs sports day may go ahead today depending on the state of the playing fields, if not it will probably be cancelled completely as the next four weeks are busy with other end of term activities.
I’m having my hair coloured and cut this afternoon which will be relaxing.

Thinking of those who are suffering in any way and hoping that life improves for you soon.

Have the best day possible everyone. It’s Friday again!

ginny Fri 12-Jun-26 07:19:54

Good morning from N. Bucks on another dull day. I’ll be wearing a jumper again.
I should have been going to DGSs school sports day but it has been cancelled due to the weather.
So , this morning I’ll be making cottage. Pies for the freezer and thinking about food for Sunday when all the family will be here.
WI sewing group this afternoon . I might try to finish my painting from art class yesterday, I’m not too happy with it but as it is acrylic paint it is easier to change things.
A good day wished for all .

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 12-Jun-26 07:18:49

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. There is no rain forecast today which is a relief. I am meeting my younger son in London and going to Buyer’s Day at the Summer Exhibition. I don’t really want to take a coat, but will take an umbrella in my rucksack.

I set up my new sewing machine yesterday which OH bought for my Golden Wedding present.

I spent yesterday morning listening to two V&A lectures on Art Deco. While OH was watching the World Cup I listened to the latest Rest is Politics podcast on the resignation of the Defence Minister.

Younger son is coming for the weekend after our Royal Academy visit. He hasn’t been back since the week before Christmas.

Have a good day everyone, especially those of you who are suffering.

NannyJan53 Fri 12-Jun-26 07:15:29

Good morning from another dull and grey Black Country. At least it is not raining!

Mum had a cleaner yesterday. I video called her 10 mins beforehand to remind her, but cleaner was already there. She said she like to start off with a chat first before getting stuck in.

Then Cleaner rang me just before 12 to say she is about to finish, and they had a lovely chat about the 'old days' Mums favourite subject smile. So hopefully all good, as the last one, Mum asked to leave and virtually shoved her out of the door!!

Then Mum informed me that the Day Centre, are taking her on a trip to Birmingham next week. Odd I thought, so I rang to find out more. Apparently it is a canal boat trip locally with a picnic!

Today I will pop into town, to the Library to print train tickets for Portugal next week. Faro to Lagos over 2 hours trip, 4.15 Euros each! Then a few days later Faro to Albufeira, just over an hour, 2.74 Euro each. Train to Birmingham from here (25mins) over £7.

Fish n chips tonight...probably! At least this cold is slowly disappearing.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Gagagran Fri 12-Jun-26 07:15:21

Good Morning everyone from a cloudy but less cold central south coast.

A taxing day yesterday. My poor big brother is about to transfer from hospital to the hospice. His time is limited with heart and kidney failure set in and antibiotics failing to stop his foot necrotising. He has declined more surgery and the antibiotics are to be stopped as not working.

Then, we got a call from our DGD2, who with her boyfriend is attempting to walk the South Downs Way. Very wet, very cold, darkness falling and no idea where to find somewhere to camp. DH sent her a location near the pub where they had taken refuge and we just got a present location - at the camping spot he told her about. But I had worried all night about her as well as my brother! DH has told her where to get a bus to the train station or that he will pick them up later on if they abandon. She is finding it harder than expected!

Take care everyone and hope those with burdens and worries of any kind find some relief today.

monk08 Fri 12-Jun-26 07:15:11

Good morning all from a dull but dry Black country.
Today is DS 16th wedding anniversary it was a lovely sunny day and the DiL had her wish of walking the quarter of mile down to church. It was a sight to behold the bride on her mother's arm with 7 bridesmaids in the colours of the rainbow following behind. The council had previously the day before swept the pavement after a request from her mother.
Tonight we will sit with the boys while they have a date night.
Yesterday's trip to my friends went well no mishaps on the train, lovely to see her and her daughter who kindly met me at the station.
Thoughts to missing posters and those with family worries have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️

latedecember1963 Fri 12-Jun-26 07:09:21

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Anglesey.
Yesterday was cold and wet so our day out with my Anglesey friend was to a garden centre rather than a walk or beach day.
This morning I'll go to Slimming World in Cemaes and then take the little chap to the beach for a run around if it stays dry.
Hope everyone has the best day possible. 🌻

luluaugust Fri 12-Jun-26 07:06:28
