Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s a pleasant 18 degrees outside, but cloudy at the moment. The clouds cleared yesterday morning and it was a warm sunny afternoon. I cleared my admin tasks in the morning, then spent the afternoon in the local hospital having an infusion for my osteoporosis. I hope it’s more effective than the previous treatment.
Nothing planned for today, I may go for my usual walk and need to contact a friend who had a fall on Tuesday night. I think the garden needs some attention again too.

I’m pleased that your afternoon tea went well yesterday grandmattie, it sounds a busy afternoon for you. I’m sure your fellow residents were delighted with the leftovers!

Yesterday’s writers group went well. We all managed to turn out something respectable (me by the skin of my teeth!). I’m not good at writing ‘on the hoof’. I called in M&S and looked at some nice light chinos, but of course they didn’t have my size so I will have to order them on line. Last evening, I caught up on the phone with my best friend. We haven’t managed to see each other for a while but will work to rectify that soon.

This morning I’m out with the walking group, but will pick my niece up on my way home and give her a lift to the hairdressers. It will save her half the cost of her usual taxi journey.

Yesterday afternoon was delightful as we caught up with old friends last seen 5 years ago. They’re coming again Saturday for takeaway before they head back home to Wales.
Must check my Tesco delivery list for tomorrow, ring a new dentist and decide what’s for dinner tonight.
England were a pleasure to watch last night, second half at least!

Good morning from a cool, drizzly Cornwall where I've woken up late for me. I watched the England football match at my son's last evening and didn't get home till way past midnight, and was buzzing, a combination of football excitement, real ale and Maltesers, so I set to rearranging my art room. Two hours later I climbed into my bed under all the clutter I had shifted and read more of Florence Nightingale's biography. I've no idea what time I went to sleep!

Today I must finish sorting the room, repaint a wall previously hidden by a table, go to the dentist and later meet my grandson and daughter-in-law for a meal at our quirky local cinema, three minutes walk from my flat, followed by watching Toy Story 5.

I have a feee couple of hours in the afternoon, before the 11yr old arrives after school football for his weekly sleepover.

Good morning everyone from an overcast Lancashire.

Yesterday was spent quietly at home. It's a shame we missed Toddler Group but it's not fair to potentially spread a bug, although I suspect he's teething. Fortunately the weather brightened up and we spent most of the afternoon in the garden with his water table and climbing frame.

Today DH is in the office. This morning the little chap is getting a hair cut.
I've almost finished the back of the cardi I started yesterday. I'd forgotten how quickly 3 month sizes knit up. The fronts might be slower as they have a pattern.
It's one of my late MiL's patterns that I haven't done before. It's out of print now but was 1st printed in 1980, but is a nice classic style.

Good to see a poster from Ohio. I know very little about Ohio apart from I think the writer Bill Bryson was from there originally.
I think we had another lady from America who used to mention the birds she could see as she sat on her porch.

Good morning from a rather muggy and overcast N Surrey. It feels like rain. No doubt it will after I well watered pots and tubs last night before bed.
Before the very hot weather arrives this week I will move several tubs of hydrangeas into a shady spot otherwise they will shrivel in the hot sun in my south facing garden. They are looking lovely so far this year and they won't like blazing sunshine.
I took cuttings last year from a rose bush a dear late friend gave me and was so pleased to see my cuttings are blooming.

Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy dry Morecambe Bay where there will no doubt be some rain later. Hopefully it will hold off until we have walked Crazy Dog in the woods and I have cleaned the camper.
I’ve had a good night’s sleep in my own bed as CD slept in his bed instead of on ours. I think he must be as tired as us.
It’s good to be home, though we have enjoyed our trip. I was surprised to look back at my diary just how much we crammed in. Some of it feels like an eternity ago already. We have two weeks at home before we are off to Shetland.
Yesterday was a long day with lots of driving having detoured to David Austin Roses. I was amazed at the size of the place but the gardens were really beautiful showcasing the many different roses. I have my eye on a rose called Nye Bevin but resisted the temptation to buy it yesterday. In fact we didn’t spend anything not even a cup of tea! I need to work out where it can go. My garden is pretty full as it is. I can’t post pics they are all on DH’s phone and getting back late last night he hasn’t sent them over to me. I’ll post them tomorrow.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and cloudy. Llfl your desserts sound delicious.
Yesterday's trip to Auld Reekie (Edinburgh) was good. We arrived early and got a taxi to near the theatre where we had an early dinner in Ciao Roma, a lovely Italian restaurant. At the adjoining table was a Danish lady and we chatted for a while. She had come on holiday for a few days on her own and was happy to talk. After she left, two gentlemen sat there and they were very chatty as well. When we went to the theatre, we sat in the café for a while before going to our seats. To my amazement, on the way I saw an old school friend. We caught up briefly and she messaged me later.
The dancing was excellent and the dancers were very funny and talented. So a good night was had, marred only slightly by the taxi I had ordered not arriving. It was quickly rectified though as the firm sent another.
Today I will do a stint in the school library then home to potter. Have a good day all.

It was lovely to have lunch with DS1 yesterday. Sadly it was grey and breezy at the marina and not the lovely bright sunny day I was expecting.

Today I am helping at a Bright Sparks Cafe which is for people who have been diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment. Sainsbury's delivery at tea time.

Yesterday was Arts Society. The interesting lecture was on the Pre-Raphaelites.
This morning I'll get the bus into town then walk to the Civic Society for a Darwin Day. We begin with coffee, followed by a talk on Darwin, who was born here in Shrewsbury.
After lunch at The Bears Steps café (*Ash*) you will know where it is because you had a meal in the Italian restaurant nearby) we shall walk the Darwin trail. I'm looking forward to the it. An NWR group from Staffordshire are joining us for the day.

Yesterday’s outing to the Arboretum went well . Lots of walking which I am now feeling the effects of.

A very early morning all from West Oxfordshire. I’m still in bed and will be for a while.

We are going to see Disclosure Day at the cinema later, we like sci fi. Before then I will make a batch of Coronation sauce for the Coronation chicken I am serving tomorrow. Two of my cousins are coming for lunch. The puddings - iced chocolate soufflé and rich chocolate cake - and rice salad are made but I need to make the sauce this morning and poach a chicken this evening.

The WI talk on Bletchley Park was excellent and very illuminating. It was also good to catch up with ladies I hadn’t seen for a while.

Good morning from Sheffield

A good nights sleep thank goodness. I have discovered Dr Stuart’s Valerian tea. It’s definitely helping me sleep longer. I don’t take it every night, I don’t want to become reliant on it. It’s not the best tasting stuff but it’s not unpleasant. I wake up refreshed.

We have the youngest DGS sports day later . DD is working so we will pop along and be there for him. I hope the rain keeps off.

Then family for tea. I have a lamb shoulder that I will cook in the slow cooker , and tiny new potatoes roasted with chorizo. Some kind of green veg, possibly broccoli and green beans.
I do enjoy cooking different things, they are very appreciative.

Good morning from Bristol. It’s overcast but promising to be dry. No wind.
Yesterday went well, although I was very tired by the end.
The FAB cafe went well, 18 attendees including 2 newbies who attend the AgeUk t’ai chi class then come across for coffee.

I left early to have time to have lunch. I had a little over 1 hour, which includes 2x 10 minute walks to and from the church/hall.

I helped set up, sort out the scones, jam and cream. I did most of the fetching and carrying being by far the youngest and most agile. We first sat down to a little picture quiz of various bears. I served tea while there was a second quiz - this one was intriguing as it was nicknames given to monarchs:- sun king, the unready, etc.

The “afternoon tea” of scones, jam and clotted cream (in whichever order) seemed to go down well, although the organisers were tearing their hair out with numbers. The usual - people not signing up, others cancelling at the last minute, other ditto but then coming… everyone seemed happy though.

The hall was needed very soon after our departure, so it was a bit of a scramble to wash up for 30 and tidy up on time, but it seemed to work ok.

I came home with scones, jam and rhubarb (from the vicar’s allotment) where I played lady bountiful to the delight of some neighbours.

May you perform a random act of kindness today- kindness is like jam, it spreads and the little escaped edges are often the most appreciated.

Good morning Mick and everyone, dull, cloudy skies here in south Glos; yesterday’s rain was very welcome although it was also somewhat cool.
I cleared the ironing pile, usual housework stuff and achieved little else 😁, not that it mattered!
I think today will probably be similar, except I’m going to set up a new embroidery project, I need to tidy the muddle on my craft room table first with a pile of threads to put away. I will happily faff around usually achieving little because I’m the Queen of Procrastination
I do need to brush the Shed floor and look for my thimble that I dropped under the table there.

The boys were angels yesterday. DGS1 had a new book under his arm, a very large Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs! There are some fearsome looking brutes in it and I wish their names were more easily pronounced! Some of them are real tongue-twisters.

I’ve got my nails this morning, rather earlier than usual so I’m hoping I won’t hit rush hour traffic. Then I have a couple of shops to visit and later I’ll be having the boys again as DD3 has her course to go to.
