Well, mine died 27 years ago but I had nearly lost him when we had been married for just 3 years. Brain bleed due to an aneurysm. One day fine, next day collapsed. He was lucky in that although it changed his life he didn't drop dead that day, so yes, treat every day as if it might be the last.

As sad as I am I feel so lucky I had the best man in the world for 55 years.

I'm with Bluebele, too 🤣, but I did finally find my true soulmate, later in life, after a couple false starts.

Lovely post, Macaydia. My OH and I celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary last week and although he annoys the hell out of me on a daily basis, there's also not a day goes by that I'm thankful he is still with me. (I'm sure I also annoy the hell out of him too, but we're still here!)

Liam Neeson said this 9 years after his wife died. He must have been missing her terribly because it doesn't get any easier.

Thank you to those, like Neeson, who have lost, yet can still show warmth and give advice to those still enjoying their partner.

It’s wonderful to be blessed with a loving spouse. Yes treasure them always. I miss my lovely man so much.

The subject line of my post, literally says, "for those with a spouse". This is not a bereavement post.

I didn't mean to make anyone cry but I lost my spouse quite recently and I think a kind thing would be to pass on this wisdom from the other side - the black and white side that has lost its colour. The place I am.

I am also grateful for my spouse, he loves cooking dinner, is very kind, shares everything and is my calming influence when I get het up.
He can be annoying at times, the best bit is he never knows he is.

Yes, granfromafar. Treat your loved one - even on those difficult days - the way you would love to be treated. I know how hard that is !

That is very poignant. I will have to keep saying it to myself, especially on difficult days like today when OH's Alzheimers has been particularly challenging!

I am truly grateful for my spouse. I often read some of the heartfelt posts of those that have lost a much loved partner knowing that could be me and that's how I'd feel.

Cherish your spouse, as long as you feel they deserve it (and vice versa), but no two marriages turn out the same.
