Harry and Meghan. UK Visit.

Just been reading about H&M’s forthcoming proposed visit to the UK with their children, pertaining to the Invictus Games which are due to take place next year.

Apparently, it’s a private visit, and accommodation has been offered to them on a ‘Royal estate’, but no mention of where or if it’s been accepted.

Security issues not revealed, plus whether or not it involves meeting up with the King.

We shall wait and see how it all evolves.

We cannot say what are lies. We were not there and witnessed none of it.

Exactly.

However, I also agree that they should have visited, seen the King, brought their children, and left quietly. It does seem this is exactly what they’ve done.

I hope this is repeated many times. Our King is not a young man and I have no doubt he lives his sons and grandchildren.

Notwithstanding this, I do think both Harry and William are “marked” by the events happening throughout their entire childhood, a very public divorce, release of alleged phone call recordings, awful interviews given by both their parents and then their mother's early and awful death.

To be honest, as a parent, I hope their rifts ultimately mend.

I hear all you are saying and your interpretations but I do not agree with them, nor do I see why it mayters so much to people. This is a family dispute and we simply cannot know all that went on/goes on. It is not our business.

Not that many have welcomed him.
And Meghan would have been either ignored or booed, had she appeared in public.
Wise move not to have had. Her fragile ego would have suffered.

I am deeply intrigued about this level of unkindness and cannot begin to understand what motivates it.

How’s the temperature up there on your high horse ?
As others have said, watch the Oprah interview again, full of lies and misrepresentations of the facts, accusations of racism in the Royal Family, inconsistencies in her account of Archie’s birth (you do not walk out of hospital 2 hours after an epidural, watch that interview where she mocked the Queen doing an elaborate medieval curtsey (even Harry looked embarrassed) or the «Woe is me» interview with Tom Bradby when H&M had just returned from hearing about the most harrowing experiences of women in S Africa and she simperingly complained»nobody asks after me», her complaints about 7 years of hell since marrying Harry, her insistence that she is «Meghan Sussex» when their surname is Mountbatten- Windsor, rudeness in walking in front of the Queen to take flowers most intended for HM to the embarrassment of the Queen’s entourage etc etc.
So reflect and you might get a glimmering of why her behaviour not least regarding the late Queen, has aroused a reaction in many.

Ixion you are right.
Have private visits and keep them to yourself.

Luckygirl3 I think the "hatred" (your words - I just see dislike) comes from airing their private life/opinions on their wider family in public.

I think many were shocked/saddened that they would do this.

ixion Sun 12-Jul-26 17:14:34

Well, that went well, didn't it?
Seriously.

They all met up, had a nice time. Went home.

No fanfare, no sightings or photos.

Job done.

Rinse and repeat, if this is all it takes.

I have.
What I see is a man who has had an unhappy childhood with a deep well of sadness inside him..
I am glad he has found happiness with his wife and children.
He is always going to be saddled with his heritage and the scars from his childhood, but he has done good things in spite of this: served with distinction in the armed forces and started the Invictus Games.
Even if people feel he has done some things wrong and made mistakes as all of us do, I cannot see where the hatred comes from or why anyone would waste their time on it. He is not our relative or neighbour and his actions do not impinge on us in any way. Why expend a moment of life on this?

Aveline Sun 12-Jul-26 16:15:03

Luckygirl13 have you read Harry's book or watched their Netflix programmes? You might understand how most of us feel towards them after that.

MissAdventure Sun 12-Jul-26 15:29:42

I wasn't referring to William's looks, particularly.

Silvershadow.I cannot understand how they have the nerve to arrive in England expecting everyone to welcome them with open arms

I do not think they had this expectation which is why they felt the need for protection.

However many have welcomed him with open arms.

barbourgirl Sun 12-Jul-26 14:01:31

Harry is still acting like a little boy. All that nonsense with Alison Hammond, all for show. they are carbon copies of the Duke of York and Mrs Simpson and should have been treated the same.

Silvershadow Sun 12-Jul-26 13:41:45

Everybody is an individual.
In any family the children react differently to the same situation. Harry doesn't have to be a carbon copy of William (who behaves like a 60 year old, IMO)

Everybody is indeed an individual and nobody expects him to be a carbon copy of William. William may seem like 60 to you, but given what he’s had to cope with in his life: the death of his mother and beloved grandparents, his father and wife going through cancer treatment and the treacherous traitor that is his brother, plus all the responsibility he has had to shoulder as a result who could blame him for looking older than his years. Frankly, I don’t think he does, he looks not dissimilar to my own sons in laws both of whom are mid 40s like him.

barbourgirl Sun 12-Jul-26 13:24:38

i agree with Silvershadow.I cannot understand how they have the nerve to arrive in England expecting everyone to welcome them with open arms after all the drivel they have written and spoken about the Royal family,Also has Meghan no respect for her own family . How does she think they feel reading all the hype of this visit to Uk knowing they have been shunned for years.

Lathyrus3 Sun 12-Jul-26 13:15:53

Actually given what he’s had to deal with in the past two or three years, that comment really couldn’t have been nastier.

Gosh. Is that a bit of vitriol? It feels like it.

We don’t like vitriol do we?

We think it’s unkind and unnecessary.

merlotgran Sun 12-Jul-26 13:09:30

If taking his role as heir to the throne with the seriousness and dedication it requires is ‘behaving like a 60 yr old’ then I’d say the monarchy is lucky he’s the elder son.

His father and wife - both at the top of the royal tree have needed his support with their cancer treatment. His children are young. George in particular needs guidance.

There must be days when William feels 60. We’re lucky to have him and not his self serving, disloyal younger brother.

Lathyrus3 Sun 12-Jul-26 13:07:08

I thought Maws post as purely observational - that he does seem much more relaxed when he is carrying out public engagements by himself.

Personally I’m not a fan of the “goofy”, over the top persona and that applies across the board for me, regardless of who it is. So that’s a statement about me rather than a criticism of him.

Its a partisan view to cry against criticism of some people as unkind and unjustified by knowledge but then to deliver in exactlythe same vein criticisms of others🤔

MawsRosie Sun 12-Jul-26 13:02:28

What’s wrong with being 60?
I wish I could remember but I think I had a lot of fun 🫪🫪🫪

People are indeed entitled to their opinions. That goes without saying.

Mine is that it is unkind and unnecessary to criticise this young family who are dealing with a family rift. And that this is one of the things that contributes to them feeling they need protection in the UK.

And I was not criticising them

merlotgran Sun 12-Jul-26 12:25:10

Funnily enough William also lost his mother, walked behind that same coffin. He’s not trying to bring down a newspaper, ruin the careers of journalists simply doing their jobs, slipping pills into the tongue of a young girl at a house party, stripping of naked in Las Vegas, writing tell all books in which he luridly describes his todger and that of his brother.

Indeed!

Smileless2012 Sun 12-Jul-26 12:21:42

Good reasons to leave the 'Family Business' I'm sure. Good reasons to behave in the way he has since doing so; can't think of any.

Luckygirl3 Sun 12-Jul-26 12:12:29

Furret

I’m not going to read the previous 20 pages because I know I’ll end up spluttering in rage. I’ll pin my flag to the mast now and declare myself on Team Megan.

Harry is a good man. He had his reasons for not going into the Family Business. Good reasons.

He did have good reasons I agree.
