Harry and Meghan. UK Visit.

Just been reading about H&M’s forthcoming proposed visit to the UK with their children, pertaining to the Invictus Games which are due to take place next year.

Apparently, it’s a private visit, and accommodation has been offered to them on a ‘Royal estate’, but no mention of where or if it’s been accepted.

Security issues not revealed, plus whether or not it involves meeting up with the King.

We shall wait and see how it all evolves.

*I think that there is really only one thing going on here and that is the Sussexes continually trying to do what the Royals originally forbade them to do. That was to be Global Celebrities*
The royal family cannot forbid them to do anything at all.
In any event they simply ARE celebrities .... that is just a fact.

They didn't need to be celebrities.

They could have followed the down to earth example of Anne who has spent her entire adult life as sibling to future king, lives well away from London, raised her children in privacy with no titles, developed interests of her own, and took on a huge number of public duties carried out with no fanfare and little media attention . Anne's husbands took a very back seat and have enjoyed relative obscurity.

Edwards marriage, children life etc have attracted very little publicity or attention.

In character I would say M &H are exactly like the Greek gods; selfish, perverse, wilful, demanding, unpredictable and following no moral code but their own. Also subject to hubris.

Fortunately they do not have superhuman powers, otherwise we would all be turned into spiders or trees, for daring to criticize them.

Good.
Glad we ironed that one out.

Lathyrus3 Sun 12-Jul-26 22:40:47

Indeed. We must each live with ourselves.

MissAdventure Sun 12-Jul-26 22:36:45

It wasn't snide or sneery.
I openly said what i thought.
One comment, as opposed to page after page of Harry and Meghan comments.
Guess we'll each have to just live with our revulsion.

Perhaps I don't like being adressed as if I'm a five year old. smile

Fair enough.

I think your snide and sneery comment about a man who has had to support his young children through the discovery of their mothers cancer and it’s treatment, whilst supporting his father whilst he also underwent treatment for cancer and who undertook the public roles that were thrust upon him with dignity and humanity, was disgraceful. And that anyone should be thoroughly ashamed at taking that kind of personal jibe at anyone in those circumstances

I agree my first comment was not helpful. It did not make clear my feeling of revulsion,

Gosh. Is that a bit of vitriol? It feels like it.

We don’t like vitriol do we?

We think it’s unkind and unnecessary.

I don't know why you're being lairy towards me, but feel free, if it helps. smile

Well I don’t know why you’re singling me out from the other posters who also thought your comment about William was particularly nasty.

I wasn’t the only one to protest.

Who knows? No one on here for sure.
It’s all very sad ..makes me think of LesDawsons old lady characters gossiping about stuff they knew nothing about and wallowing in other folks misfortunes.
I,m not a monarchist,I,d happily see them all on the dole tomorrow,I think they are hypocrites and worse
Charlie and Di were manipulative of the press exactly like Harry and Meghan, they both did interviews, had books published aired their dirty linen and other lovers….all forgotten on here and you are all so in favour of the new queen…adulteress and no doubt liar too.
Give us all a break
I avoid these usually but honestly ,time some of you got a life!
Bad enough you can’t turn on the tv without the royal publicity machine spouting out some nonsense .
They are just people not gods.

TLDR

MarieElla Sun 12-Jul-26 20:35:39

Thanks for that paddyanna54....
Are you policing all the threads or just this one?
Best to continue avoiding threads that wind you up.

Do agree, especially with your last sentence?

So H&M are not liars??

Luckygirl3 Sun 12-Jul-26 19:11:36

If Harry has lied in court that is of course fundamentally wrong and I am sure he will be indicted for perjury and rightly so. We can only wait and see.
But it is not really surprising that the DM should make this accusation. It is what happens in these cases.

I am on the side of fairness and the sort of vendetta that has been waged against this couple is neither fair nor decent.

Calendargirl Sun 12-Jul-26 19:11:19

I haven’t read the book ‘Spare’and I didn’t see the Oprah interview

I suggest you do both, and it will give you a lot more insight into what all this is about.

Straight from the horse’s mouth, as it were.

Cossy Sun 12-Jul-26 18:55:47

His family, not her family!

Cossy Sun 12-Jul-26 18:55:20

Honestly, let’s all just agree to disagree.

The one thing they cannot help (now) is the press reporting about them.

All people have lied at some point in their lives. I’m not sure where Meghan is coming from half the time and it’s clear Harry does want a relationship with her family.

I haven’t read the book “Spare” and I didn’t see the Oprah interview.

I just think, well nothing really.

Just let them all get on with it.

The only time I really get annoyed is when people bracket Harry as being the same as his Uncle Andrew. As for the rest, well I hope the family issues are resolved and they just get on with their lives.

A word of thanks to Furret and Lucky for having the determination to try and encourage the majority to even consider it isn’t as simple as William and Catherine exactly how the RF is expected to behave and Harry and Megan, absolutely dreadful human beings who deserve to be excommunicated

People are indeed entitled to their opinions. That goes without saying.

Mine is that it is unkind and unnecessary to criticise this young family who are dealing with a family rift. And that this is one of the things that contributes to them feeling they need protection in the UK.

dealing with a family rift

But they were the cause of the family rift!

There wouldn’t have been one, without Meghan sticking her two pennyworth in!

You do need to take off your rose tinted specs.
Meghan and Harry are entitled liars and deeply flawed.
However, they are entertaining in such as , how idiotic venture are they going to get up to next?
And please stops telling us off on this thread.
Why not save energy and join a chat that supports them.....
You're only upsetting yourself here.

Lying under oath to ruin people’s careers and lives, followed up by accusing a judge of a complete whitewash when it doesn’t go his way is certainly our business. But he has a history of lying as we all know. As does she.

MawsRosie Sun 12-Jul-26 18:32:17

Luckygirl3

We cannot say what are lies. We were not there and witnessed none of it.

Well I think we can when a basic understanding of fact proves how wrong headed and ultimately duplicitous some public assertions were. Archie’s HRH status- nothing to with skin colour but he was not entitled to it as great grandson of the monarch
The «wedding» in Lambeth Palace garden - illegal if true, complete fantasy as it turned out as attested by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
When you are making public statements about the Monsrchy, this is no longer a private family affair.

eazybee Sun 12-Jul-26 18:03:20

As you say, Luckygirl, the family dispute is not our business.
But it becomes our business when two of the principals involved give interviews to a world famous chat show host, write books detailing personal details, release stories accusing family of racist remarks (but not naming them, causing even more discord)) and doing everything they can to divert attention to themselves.
It was sickening to see on television news the Latest strip floating across the screen announcing 'Meghan and the children are coming' just as Ann Widdecombe's death/murder was announced, as though it was of equal importance.

luckygirl, I am surprised how naive some of your comments are in defence of Meghan.
Even the Archbishop of Canterbury had to publicly deny her statement (lie) that she and Harry were secretly married by him a few days before the actual wedding.
