Some years ago I recall one of my mother's carers coming into the house and reeking of cigarette smoke. I assumed she had been smoking on the way to us and asked her not to do that again as we found the smell offensive. She said she too found it offensive - she'd been given a chain-smoking client and was coming directly from his house to ours. I wondered what rights she had to refuse to take that client - her workplace, but his home?
