Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Yesterday’s heat meant after a very early trip to Sainsburys I spent the rest of the day sitting around with endless cups of tea. Terrific thunderstorm at 3.30 this morning so a bit sleep deprived

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. After a night of lightning, thunder and showers, the sun is trying to shine again. I couldn’t decide whether to try to sleep upstairs (31 degrees) or downstairs (29) but opted for my bed upstairs. Didn’t sleep too badly considering the heat.
Another hot day is forecast so another day of doing very little. One or other of my DDs may call in, but they’re always busy at weekends, but some of the activities are weather dependent so plans may change,

Thoughts as ever are with those who are unwell or who are struggling at the moment.

Good Morning all from a very pleasant, cooler central south coast. There was even a little rain in the night. Much easier to cope with physical issues in this temperature!

Today I must cut DH's hair. It will be 8 weeks on Monday since his last shearing and it is now well overdue for another.
He has got his cycling kit in the washer already and there is another pile of the usual other items., to follow.

Our Tesco delivery yesterday was somewhat depleted as their fridges had failed due to the heat and we had 15 unavailable fridge items. I messaged DGS, who was coming for lunch and he brought some milk. We can manage without the other missing items. The local hospital had the same problems with their coolers and lots of operations, treatments and appointments had to be cancelled as a result. I do wonder if the fridges etc in very hot countries fail in the heat or use a different cooling system to ours?

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞 day in Northampton. Temperatures forecast to be slightly lower today and then almost back to normal tomorrow.

Did very little again yesterday apart from read; housework has fallen by the wayside this week apart from the absolute basics. A neighbour invited herself for coffee, but it turned out she had forgotten a chiropodist visit so it was a very short get-together!

Out to the podiatrist this morning, then shall hop on the bus to the shops; at least they will be cool, and I shall also pop into Costa for coffee and a bacon roll.
No other plans for the day apart from adorning my toenails with polish once they have been dealt with.

Good morning from an overcast and muggy corner off S E Essex it’s currently 21° which is relatively cool considering that it was 33.5° when we went out to dinner last night.

I am fizzing with excitement this morning, I am off to the London Stadium with my lovely daughter-in-law to see Take That, courtesy of DS3. He has spoilt us with ^Hospitality Tickets and excellent seats. Hopefully all air conditioned as the temperature is due to be 30° at the beginning of the evening going on to 26° at the finish.

We have seen all their shows since their reunion concert at Milton Keynes Bowl 2006.

Good morning everyone from Inverness, after a day of rain yesterday we’ve light grey clouds and a forecast high of 23°. Hoping the extreme heat further south eases a bit soon
It was good to get back to the gym and usual routine yesterday, although I’m a bit achey this morning. I had a good catch up with my gym friends, they’re such a lovely group of ladies. Today I need to do a food shop, finish the holiday washing and then get out into the garden this afternoon

Good morning from a warm and still Torbay. A poor night here due to revellers deciding to round off their party directly outside our bedroom window…. at 2.30 am!

Yesterday after DH's dental appointment and coffee (with cheese scone!) in Dunelm, we took my car for its first wash so it’s gleaming again…. until the dust settles on it once more! After that, we filled the petrol tank for the first time since last month in France! It’s a mild hybrid so uses battery power at times.

Good morning. It was a cooler night and quite comfortable at the moment.
We are off to the south west today so I think temperatures are a little lower. At least we have air con. for the journey.

Good morning from a calm, quite cool Cornwall with a lovely breeze wafting around. My orange sun umbrella ('terracotta' in the brochure but more like 'satsuma' when it arrived 😆) is reflecting a lovely glow into my flat that makes it look like the lights are on.

An early bus yesterday took me to B&Q which, oh joy, opens at 7am and as the weather was still cool I chose a long walk back to the nearest town with three plants for my patio, passing hoards of secondary school children in hot-weather gym kit.

On the way I stopped at my favourite charity shop for a coffee and toasted tea cake and fun chat from the lovely ladies who run it.

Today I'll potter a bit at home and may take a book down to the river and find a shady spot to sit. Later I'm off to my youngest son's to watch the England World Cup match and drink some real ale. Home by midnight maybe.

Looking at the long range forecast temperatures look likely to drop; I do hope so!

Good morning from Morecambe Bay where we have had a slightly cooler night but today will be quite warm again before more reasonable temperatures tomorrow.
It’s my Saturday morning empty, so I’ll go out in the garden early and get a bit done.
I need to contact DS1 about calling down. It’s DGD’s eighteenth in a couple of weeks, but we will be away. I will cross her palm with silver to mark the occasion. It’s been an expensive year having two DGDs reaching eighteen within weeks of each other.
Hopefully being weekend there’s no work on the building sites to the right and left of us today. One side is particularly noisy as it’s a huge extension and the team of builders shout above the clattering and music. The language is not the best either!
I feel for the family next door as the extension has gone right up to their boundary and the scaffolding has been erected on their land without any permission. What has happened to manners and decency?

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is cloudy but warm and not a leaf is stirring!

Yesterday at school, the children were hot and fractious and not in a mood for reading, but so was I and I get to call the shots😁! I had thought to walk to school but got half way up the road and decided that it was suicidal in the heat so I went back for the car and its air conditioning.

Today the family who are returned from being travellers in an antique land will come over for a late lunch. I was shocked to hear that DD is taking part in the Round Sheffield Run first, though. She had booked her place ages ago. It will be gruelling in this heat. I hope she might change her mind today but knowing her, I doubt it.

Good morning from the hillside in south Glos where the sunshine is already warm 🙄
I did sleep well, thank goodness, so feeling quite chirpy so far! That could change if it gets hot, in which case I will revert to being a grumpy mess! I’m really not sure how I’ll will cope if the predicted more frequent hotter spells materialise, poor DH 😁 He absolutely revels in the heat, it doesn’t bother him one bit. I did think I would buy myself a paddling pool to flop in;
highly likely that the dogs would commandeer it though.

Anyway, I need to do housework today, very little has been done for the last few days.

Yesterday I popped in to see a friend who’s been diagnosed with breast cancer; she’s doing very well after surgery. We had a good natter 😊

Reading about your potatoes Karma, I have a rogue potato plant growing in one of my borders! I have absolutely no idea where it’s come from, I haven’t grown potatoes for at least 12 years! I’ll have a go at digging it up and see if we get a free meal out of it.

A busy day today. The gorgeous Cockapoo is coming for the day in about an hour. I am taking my DGS birthday present to him at 9. They have a busy celebratory day so I’m going early.
Then at lunchtime we are going to have a look at some salvaged and restored marine clocks. I really don’t need one but they look really interesting
Then this afternoon we are going to the cinema to see Disclosure Day. It will be lovely and cool in there and I can eat my own body weight in popcorn.

All my windows and doors are open, my loft hatch has been open all night and my bedroom was at 28 this morning. There is a lovely cool cross-draft and I am on a mission to take some heat out of the house thermal mass from today

I was much more adapted to the heat yesterday but it was still hotter than expected at 31, it did not stop me getting on with things and I had a full rotary washing line, bed was changed etc

The allotment had a visit yesterday by 5 and I stayed until 6.30, active like a whirling dervish, topped by finding a lot of bindweed had sneaked through from next-door allotment. I brought some produce back and the potatoes are de-haulmed and lie safely under the soil until I want them

I have a lovely weekend ahead of me, my online sewing weekend starts at 6am. Lots of videos, chats and discounts, all about sewing and it finishes tomorrow evening. I have access to the videos indefinitely so I don`t need to be glued to my laptop. This is my third year of hedonistic sewing weekend pleasure

Off to get my enormous mug of tea now and my marmite bread treat, ideal for salt intake at the moment

Good morning from a much cooler Bristol. Although I didn’t sleep especially well, the night was very tolerable. I hope the day will be too. Mid-20s is ok by me.
Our last Spanish class was reflective. We had a very interesting video about the benefits or not of home working and the general opinion was that a hybrid would work best especially for the youngsters starting work.
Our tutor was very touched, but rather embarrassed by out book token, and the second half was spent having “no secco” and cake while chatting in Spanish/spanglish.
I had lovely surprise visit from DS who had collected DGD locally. They spent an hour here chatting. I get on very well with DGD, my “twin”.
They had barely left when my “hair salon” opened. The hairdresser is a lovely woman, the neighbours very pleasant although one has a massive chip on her shoulder regarding her modest background and education. It can become wearing as she can talk for England.
I’m serving at the church coffee and chat today, then the rest of the day is empty. I may start assembling the skirt I cut out the other day.
