Bookbub have 99p offers every day. I’ve been stacking up books for this very occasion. I take out my hearing aids and occasionally throw in a comment when the cheering gets though to me. It works very well.

I’m sick to death hearing and seeing football, rugby, tennis, horse racing on tv.

It’s getting beyond ridiculous and unreasonable.
Infuriating. No point looking in the Radio Times for tv schedules as they are all topsy turvey.

I dunno but last week i figured they must be playing coz outside tesco i stood waiting for my family coming out and 2 old gents and a middle-aged gent passed by with their trollies loaded with beers& some wines.😆

I’ve looked at the TV schedules for 8pm this evening for non-sport programmes. I stopped counting when I reached 24 alternatives - there’s plenty to see if you don’t want to watch sport.

As for why people, especially men, are so involved with sport, it’s though to be because it’s a safe, non-violent (maybe not boxing!) alternative to the warfare and to-the-death competition of old.

Also, today’s Formula One is so much safer than the sport of years ago. The last fatal incident was in 2014 and thankfully is the only F1 driver death that has occurred in the 21st century. I imagine many of today’s fans grew up in this safer era so don’t have a background of expecting mayhem on the race track, apart from the competitive side.

You’d have to make an effort to watch F1 Padstow, Sky have the rights, a few highlights and the British GP only on Ch4.

Not everyone is interested in watching sport. My heart sinks every day when I look at what’s on TV. There is nothing but Sport every day, for hours at a time, on most channels throughout the evening

Luckygirl4 wouldn’t your daughter’s customers have had to pay in advance for their festival tickets ?
That shows commitment, doesn’t it, so wouldn’t they then be unlikely to cancel ?
In the event of England doing well I guess a few could decide they would rather stay at home to watch the football, but I can’t imagine people cancelling in their droves.

Maybe I’m missing out though.

I am desperate for England to lose a match! - my DD and her OH have sunk £10,000s in the festival they run - it is their livelihood - and we definitely do NOT want England in the final or they will face a financial disaster.
