I asked for a bitter shandy the other day at a bar and the young barman hadn’t heard of a shandy. Turned out he didn’t know bitter either (and hadn’t got any). I feel so old.

At work, a few years ago, a young woman didn't know what a dozen was.

I grew up using the words "Golly gosh!" when I was genuinely surprised at something - but, one fine day, someone sternly pointed out that the Golly bit was highly reprehensible.

Then the 'friendship', such as it was, collapsed on the day I pointed out that she was holding her knife like a pencil.
