Good morning from a sunny but fresher feeling Suffolk which I very much welcome, although I fear I can no longer ignore the pile of ironing. Still it will be good to feel my ‘normal’ is returning.

Not much on today but tomorrow I’m off with a friend on a day’s coach trip to Helmingham Hall to see their wonderful gardens. DH and I went there several years ago when there was an exhibition in the Hall of paintings from the Hermitage which was wonderful.

As well as looking forward to seeing the gardens we always enjoy the travelling time in the coach as we can have a good catch up and the time flies.

Hope all have a good day in the cooler temperature. What a lovely garden KittyL. The gentle colours are soothing to look at.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, blue sky and sunshine but cooler so far! It’s only 26 degrees upstairs!
I felt so much better yesterday so cut the grass in the back garden and took out the dead poppies and a few other plants that had finished flowering.
I have ironing to do today but will go for a walk first while it’s still cool.

marydoll I sincerely hope you can get an appointment for your DH today and that the problem can soon be sorted out.

marzipan I wish I could get a bus to St Ives! Enjoy your day.

ginny have a lovely day in Padstow!

fgt wishing you a trouble free journey to Malaga today and a restful break.

Thinking of all our missing posters and hope they all come back soon.

Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Good morning from a much cooler northwest coast.
Long FaceTime with my sister in the south yesterday and she always comes up with tips for tv shows she knows I might like.

There was an almighty crash on my upper level sitting room window early evening and on inspection, a dead pigeon on the patio below. They get confused with the reflections. It’s amazing that the window doesn’t break.

I started reading a doorstop of a book, Tennessee Williams’ Letters, one of my favourite playwrights, but it’s very dry…
Hope you have a book sorted for your trip FGT and have a lovely time.
Thoughts to all🌺

Madeleine has been on another forum yesterday? Good to know - but crikey, does she realise how concerned about her we’ve all been in her absence? She went from novellas to nothing! Perhaps she just had enough of us. 😦

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 29-Jun-26 07:35:41

What lovely garden photos this morning ladies! Thank you for sharing. I always love seeing pics (all kinds) on this thread. I’m a ‘visual’ person and they just personalise your posts so much!

Gagagran Mon 29-Jun-26 07:32:47

Good Morning everyone from a much cooler central south coast. Bliss!

DD has arrived in Hong Kong after a 9 hour flight from Melbourne. She likes long haul travel unlike her Mama! I enjoy tracking my family's flights on Flight Aware. You only need the flight number to do so.

I have been wrestling with whether to retire from my choir. I have several physical problems, added to by my recent fall and damaged ribs and also dread turning out on cold, dark winter evenings to rehearsals in an always chilly Methodist Church. DH thinks I should continue as it gives me social contacts I won't otherwise have but to be frank, I enjoy being at home, being quiet and am content with my small life. I realised this in the covid lockdowns, which suited me well!

I take a keen interest in current affairs, read a lot and have no real wish to go anywhere. I would probably be a good hermit! I also feel bored with the choir repertoire we are given. After 14 years in this choir, I think I have just run out of steam. I also know that at 83 in 2 months, I shall not get a sudden return to my former energetic self. Nor will my fading voice improve.
I do go, and will continue to go to WI once a month and find that satisfies any need for social contact. But am I making a mistake by considering resignation from choir?

Our youngest grandchild and only DGS is 21 today. It was so good to see him on Saturday. He was an easy baby, little boy and is still kind and gentle, albeit a 6ft 6ins giant now!

Hope all our GNs with worries, struggles or troubles of any kind have an easier day.

Bon voyage 🛫 , fgt. Enjoy your happy place.
Well done re, virtual cheque banking! It’s so easy isn’t it. I’ve only recently discovered it myself.

brook2704 Mon 29-Jun-26 07:30:50

Lovely garden photos kitty, karma and multicoloured thank you

Marydoll so sorry to hear about your ongoing problems, sending a gentle hug ❤️

monk08 Mon 29-Jun-26 07:28:27

Some lovely gardens on here this morning.

grandMattie Mon 29-Jun-26 07:26:01

I forgot. Yes, MD, it was a RAM raid at my little Tesco/petrol station. The thieves used a white Ford Escort, broke the doors and took all the tobacco, cigarettes, vapes, etc. To add insult to injury to injury, the fridges and freezers also stopped working.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Mon 29-Jun-26 07:23:08

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and much cooler only reaching 22°C. I’m glad that awful humidity has gone.

Well I’m off to Málaga this afternoon for 16 days. Temps all this week are in the mid 30’s but thankfully the humidity is low. I’m organised, taxi booked and so I can enjoy leisurely mugs (pleural) of TiB and my breakfast before getting myself ready.

On Saturday I received an NHS letter in the post telling me the mammogram I had done 5 days previously was normal. Hugely reassuring. And how efficient!

Oh and I did a ‘techie’ thing over the weekend. When I get cash out of the ATM for my stepfather (he needs it to pay his window cleaner, his daily newspaper and his two neighbours who kindly do the bulk of his grocery shopping these days) he writes out a cheque for me to pay into my bank.

Well I went into my banking app, took a photo of said cheque and on checking my bank just now it has already been credited to my account! How cool is that? 😁

monk08 Mon 29-Jun-26 07:22:00

Good morning all from a much cooler Black country.
Managed some time in the garden yesterday clearing a few weeds and deadheading some plants.
Today I think we are going for breakfast somewhere and then to look for 2 new house phones, the switchover is in a few weeks and our current phones we have been told will be no good.
Nothing else planned although I still have ironing that needs attention.
Good to see a post from Madeleine on another forum yesterday.
Safe travels FGT and anybody else on the move, enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and keep cool 😎.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 29-Jun-26 07:20:28

Good morning from a much more pleasant Stockport.
Yesterday was cooler but it still felt stuffy to me.
Not much to post, I am not wanting to go out or see anyone, I hope this feeling isn’t permanent.
Sainsbury’s delivery yesterday so stocked up for a few days, they didn’t have any problem with fridges or freezers so my order was complete, some supermarkets have no fresh produce at all.
Stay hydrated everyone, it is forecast to return to hot weather again before long.

Gelisa Mon 29-Jun-26 07:15:31

Good morning from a breezy Morecambe Bay. A welcome wind it is too!
Today I’m meeting DS2 so I have an early train to catch. DH will drop me at the station then take Crazy Dog for his walk. We are meeting ‘half way’ though DS has the longer ‘half’.
I hope he’s in a good mood as it will be a long day if he’s not up for conversation.
He’s still quite anxious at the prospect having a mortgage and we will both be glad when the solicitor gets a move on with the completion of his house purchase . He says he feels in limbo. Nothing will actually change for him as he’s lived in the house for eleven years but his autistic mind is in overdrive! We will get our trains back early afternoon so DS doesn’t have to face the rush hour traffic in Manchester.
I’m contemplating wearing my hearing aids. I’ve had them in a bit longer each day. I really don’t like them and can now understand why people don’t wear them to the frustration of others. The audiologist emphasised it was important to persevere as you do get used to them as the brain learns to tune out irrelevant noise. We shall see!
Wishing everyone a pleasant day. Take care🌸

brook2704 Mon 29-Jun-26 07:14:31

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a lovely sunny start to the day, there’s a strong wind though that’s blowing things about
Beautiful ground cover karma what a lovely, interesting change from grass
It’ll be a much quieter day today after a busy but enjoyable day yesterday. The line dancing social event was really good, lots of dancing and really good company. I’ve got some food shopping to do this morning but apart from that I’m hoping to be out in the garden
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Marydoll Mon 29-Jun-26 07:14:24

Kitty. Your garden is lovely.😍

Marydoll Mon 29-Jun-26 07:13:17

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 13C.

More drama this morning, I need to get an engage consult for DH.
On Saturday, DS noticed blood on DH's back. He was unaware, that he had knocked a keratosis and it was bleeding. I cleaned and dressed it, but yesterday, I could smell this awful odour, but couldn't work out, where it was coming from. Eventually last night, I decided to check the lesion. The smell was horrendous and potent and still is this morning. 😢
I am at the end of my tether.
Poor DH is so upset, I feel so awful for him.

Years ago on GN, there was a poster, with various user names, who was suspected of making fake posts about her life; I am sure, I too may be suspected of making similar posts, no-one's life can be that dramatic and chaotic. 😉

This is my morning for sorting the collections, clearing up at church, after the weekend, I think that won't be happening, I will delegate.

Thinking of Blossoming. who isn't too well and all our mountaineers.

Ashcombe Mon 29-Jun-26 07:12:45

Good morning from a cooler, cloudy Torbay.

Yesterday, I attended the early (9.30) service then DH and I went to Lidl. For the last few weeks I’ve had home deliveries from Asda as I can’t manage to carry shopping from the car indoors anymore due to the steps whereas DH is able to do that.

Later I enjoyed chatting on the phone to a dear friend of more than 50 years standing who was widowed last year and has Parkinson’s. He is housebound but completely lucid and we reminisce about past times, including when we lived in Michigan when he and my first husband worked for General Motors.

I hope our missing posters will rejoin us soon.

Good morning all from a cooler North Leicestershire.

Yesterday was a lovely day seeing DD3 and Co. She and her husband went off for lunch and we went to the street fayre. It wasn't very busy but lots to see and a very good choir. DSil was very complimentary about our garden so I thought i would post a photo.

Today DH has a gym session and I should try to iron as my wardrobe is quite depleted. I have a new Carer Learning session starting this afternoon.

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 29-Jun-26 07:07:37

Good morning from a sunny and warm S E Essex.

Gym this morning, and a telephone conversation with my GP. The Imp will be here after school for his weekly sleepover.

Safe journey FGT2 🛫

Thinking if all our morning friends with illness and worries 🙋‍♀️

Gingster Mon 29-Jun-26 07:03:40

Good morning all and it’s pleasantly cool here in Essex.

A very good journey home yesterday.A12 at its best (going our way anyway). Sad to leave the seaside again, but nice to be home. Back to routine this week. Starting with Chimes group this morning.

Poor pooch has an upset tum , so my first jobs were urgent clean ups! 🤢. Not a good start to the day!

The garden is looking lush but one of the hanging baskets hasn’t made it. DS and kindly neighbour have been watering but it was just too hot. 🥀.

I had an Ocado delivery at 9 last night, only ordering that morning . Really good service with text messages keeping me posted on times, so I won’t have to go shopping now.

Take care and enjoy the cooler air, while it lasts. 🌺

luluaugust Mon 29-Jun-26 07:01:49

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Cleaner coming this morning and I really must do some ironing. Otherwise a clear day. We are doing less and less which is a bit worrying.
Best wishes

karmalady Mon 29-Jun-26 06:51:59

Those seemingly bare patches are rubber brown stepping stones, I have several and can avoid stepping on the bees and it is quite nice to hop from stepping stone to stepping stone

dragonfly46 Mon 29-Jun-26 06:50:16

Good morning from a much cooler Leicestershire.

No need to take doggy out at 6 so with have my TIB first.

This evening book group in the local pub. We don’t discuss books any more just social chatter.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Astitchintime Mon 29-Jun-26 06:48:52

Good morning from the NE Mids. Bright again today with a light breeze, looks like another hot day! No plans to venture out today as we have a tradesman coming in.
I might lift some potatoes later - it’s a rogue ‘crop’ from a spud that got left behind last year. The flowers have now died off and I’m curious as to what the yield might be. Who knows, it might feed us for a few meals.
Have a good day one and all!
