On three occasions I have hired cars from Enterprise due to other people hitting mine. Although I rarely enjoyed the experience of adjusting to an unfamiliar vehicle, there were never any issues regarding the condition of the car before or afterwards nor my age. I was 75 the last time I used their service.

Another point to watch out for if you share driving, When our car broke down and we were travelling up in scotland, the hire car was ok but as I was the named driver and my husband was the additional driver, only I was covered to drive the hire car. This was some years ago and I had no problem as used to driving but just thought it might be something to check, especially if there was a big difference in age of the drivers. It may have changed these days. Re the bumps and dents issue I choose to take photos of any hire things when I get them. You have the evidence and date to show if there is any problems.

Any other car hire firms with no upper age limit?

We hired a car from Enterprise in order to collect another car from hundreds of miles away.

The stench of cigarette smoke in it was revolting, and we phoned to complain on the way. We had no other way of getting there and had to use it.

Without argument they gave us a 75% discount on the price which makes me think they knew of the problem.

We mainly hired vans, maybe that made a difference.

Glad you found them good Monica. My son used it once and they tried to blame him for a dent on the wheel arch. It was complicated as borrowed from one place and returned to another. In the end they decided he wasn't responsible and it was there before. The reviews I read suggested they tended to blame a dent or scuff unfairly on the customer.

Please look at reviews re Enterprise. Not a good picture

We have used them regularly in the past, not in the past year ,and found them highly satisfactory
