do you still buy BBC radio times?

I can remember when you had to buy the Radio Times for the BBC and TV Times for ITV and Channel 4. Both were quite good reads and covered more than television programmes. Nowadays with the far cheaper TV guides like TV Quick, newspapers with seven day guides and the EPG, there's not much point.

I think the Radio Times is on a down ward spiral.
Just looked at the Welsh version and Radio Wales does not have a full schedule of its programmes. The England BBC local radio stations are all generic.

It was in the last chance saloon 30? Years ago.

Cheap tv mag for ne.

I buy it every Christmas, not need s we have all singing and dancing tv’s.

I think it goes back to both sets of grandparents always having it then.

I've been a subscriber for many years but regularly question that decision, mainly because it's so expensive and due to the fact that, in reality, I read very little of it.

Interesting to read what others are paying: at the beginning of this month I received a notification that the cost is increasing, from October 1st, to £143pa, which is a big leap from £106!

Before I finally get around to cancelling it, can anyone recommend a decent newspaper insert please? I really only watch terrestrial channels and get my radio listening info online, so my needs are basic!

Gave up years ago when it got thicker and I had never read all the articles by the end of the week. Still buy the Christmas one although again I rarely read it all.

Only at Christmas. I mark what I’d want to watch/record, but then usually forget anyway…
Exception would be the usual Beeb 🎄ghost story!

✨️ 🎄 ✨️ Christmas double edition.

Just seen a hard copy of a radio times for my neck of the woods, and its a Welsh/West version and it does not include any BBC local radio schedules, could I ask if your outside the West country if you getting an England version or a regional copy for your area?

Still have a subscription - just! I get the last copy of my 6 month sub next week. I got the last one for a very low price - can't remember what it was but certainly a bargain. I shall do after next week what I always do - wait until a good offer appears by email.

Just purchased the Welsh version of the Radio times w/c 1st August there is no BBC radio wales schedules in the copy, they have accidentaly put in the local BBC radio stations for England. When they sold their soul (the BBC) to an out sourced company this is what we end up with.Cancel your subscriptions as the magazine just ain't worth it any more.

Just stopped paying nearly £ 4 for it, a rip off

If you have a subscription it's £52 twice a year, so £2 a copy. Well worth it because there is so much inside.

i have an old craft magazine and you could make a cover for the Radio Times as a gift for Christmas!
a lady mum cleaned for had a posh leather Radio times cover; i am guessing that you put a new one in weekly!

It's my treat to buy it when it comes out on a Tuesday and then to read it through on a Friday evening. I still love to read books and magazines in my hands. Also to keep a calendar and house diary in written form. I love technology and all the benefits but still have a yen for words in a physical way.

Like many others, i buy it at Christmas only. I usually get the double edition. It's part of the season for me and helps to build the excitement

Yes I have a subscription and love it. The radio guide is worth it alone. Detail of drama and documentaries and reviews you never get online. Much easier to navigate also.I love the radio and is the main reason I buy it as well as the puzzles and letters page.

Agree, it has dozens of channels, plus radio stations, articles, letters. There is so much. I think they have about 8 pages of TV channels every day! I don't know how they find all that information.

Only time I ever bought it was at Christmas

I get it more for the radio programmes. It is also great to see what I have missed so I can catch up online.

Yes this too.

I still buy the RT. I used to have a subscription but the post here is so diabolical, I gave up and buy it. It’s the only one that gives the radio programs in detail.

Yes exactly.

We just buy a paper on Saturday. Well as interesting articles, sports news etc it's got all the tv info as well as good puzzles. Keeps us both happy!

I read the radio times online lol I already have too much clutter, I don't want more.

We considered it unnecessary expense when our children were small and only ever bought the Christmas edition. My DD still buys the Christmas edition edition and we mark of all the programs we want to watch and then throw it away 🤣.
