Morning, 22 in S Hants and sun, with a breeze though 👍
Our hosepipe ban started yesterday, I am exempt but will manage without (MrJ)!
Little on today, the daily en-suite clean, everything else is acceptable, I have books and there’s tennis. A probable nap before tonight’s game.
Stay safe.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy and wet. We’ve had lots of rain here, well a thunderstorm actually which rumbled on for a couple of hours last night with torrential rain, thunder and lightning. The poor garden was well and truly soaked, I’ll see if it’s recovered this morning.
I’m off to a line dancing social event this evening so I’m looking forward to the chatting, laughter and good company - oh and the dancing too! It’s not a late night so I’ll be home just after the start of the football ⚽️
Gorgeous photos here today, thank you all
Gagagran ❤️
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning.
We leave today on our journey home and we will stop overnight on the way. We have had such a wonderful week ( actually two) with beautiful weather, lovely places to visit and good friends as the cherry on top.
We shall all have breakfast at a local cafe and then pop in to the Chocolate factory. It would be rude not to!
Apparently there is a hosepipe ban at home from 1am this morning so a little rain would be useful.
Thoughts with all who are suffering in any way and wishing all a good and comfortable day.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 16°C.

Our roofer is coming rearly today to finish treating the treating roof, thunderstorms are predicted. 😱
I hope he manages to finish before then.
He had to give up yesterday, due to the heat, I felt so sorry for him.

DD and SIL are coming to chop up the fallen tree for their log burner. DD is expecting fish cakes, of which there are none
I felt too unwell to make them yesterday, I am going to get up and attempt them now.

Grammaretto, I am so pleased at your bittersweet news. So many memories. What will you do about your pottery?.

Best wishes to all, especially our mountaineers.

Grammaretto Sat 11-Jul-26 07:38:22

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It feels very warm.

I had a nice dinner party last night to celebrate the likely sale of my house. I have accepted an offer.
One of my DC is supporting me, the other 3 not so much. 😦

Today my cousin and I will celebrate what would have been DH's birthday. She's really his cousin but I have adopted her 😅

My saw a physio yesterday who tells me I have sciatica which will get better but it could be 12 weeks. She gave me exercises to do.

That sounds like a hot outing gMattie. You were sensible to stay behind and chat in the cool.

A sad time for you Gagagran but also a celebration 61 years married - wonderful!

Hope everyone has some joy today.

Just a quick morning all from an already hot West Oxfordshire.

I’m off shortly for a Pottery day.

Daughter is coming later for the weekend so OH will pick her up from the station.

Have a good day.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where at the moment it is pleasantly cool. I have several windows open to get some air into the house. I walked to the pharmacy yesterday morning for my prescription and was told I needed to have my blood pressure taken as it hadn’t been done for at least a year. All well fortunately.
Like many others I hope it will rain soon, surrounding areas have a hosepipe ban now, but so far our part of Essex doesn’t have one yet.

Nothing planned for today and I think both DDs are busy all day so I probably won’t see anyone all day.

gagagran it’s sad to look at the wedding photos and realise how few people are still with us. I hope you had a happy anniversary, despite the sadness of the photos.

grandmattie an interesting day for you yesterday, but so much walking in the heat must have been tiring. I hope you have a more restful day today.

Thinking of all those who are unwell or anxious, and hoping today will be better for you.

Have as good a Saturday as possible folks.

Good morning all from yet another sunny day in the Black country.
Our friends arrived yesterday after a 4hr journey it usually takes them 2&1/2, we then went to DS for tea and a pleasant couple of hours before they headed to their hotel.
DH has a diabetic eye test at lunchtime so our friends will come later along with our Redditch friends and we shall all go to the club.
grandMattie glad you enjoyed your day out.
Lovely photos once again.
Belated Anniversary greetings Gagagran 🍾 I know what you mean when looking at the wedding photos with many no longer with us.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and stay cool 😎

Good morning from the NE Mids. It is overcast and very calm here this morning and looking at the local forecast we have a 2% chance of rain before 7am……….it had better hurry up!
Have a good day one and all!

GrannyGravy13 Sat 11-Jul-26 06:45:44

Good morning, I thought no it is going to be another glorious day 🌞

I shall be obeying doctors orders and resting, checking my vitals regularly and will probably download a book to my kindle.

(((Hugs))) to all 🙋‍♀️🌸

Good morning all from a warm North Leicestershire where I think we have a slight breeze.

We are going away for a few days tomorrow so I have some ironing to do. We also need to go over the Forest to see DD3 and family. The children all had excellent reports and they are also going away tomorrow so we need to give them some ice cream money. Although Bertie needs to up his music and drama efforts! grin
Then packing!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gagagran Sat 11-Jul-26 06:37:23

Good Morning everyone from a breezy and sunny central south coast. The wind is from the NE so it feels refreshingly cool. No doubt we will go back to hot as the sun gets going. Like others, I have had enough of it now!

A quiet reflective week here but my two choir friends came to visit me one morning and that lifted the sadness somewhat, following my big brother's death on Monday. My niece has been busy with all the paperwork involved this week, and also had to empty his hospice room as there is a waiting list for occupancy. Next she has to do the same for his assisted living flat. He was a hoarder so it will be hard for her. I can only support from afar.

Yesterday was our 61st wedding anniversary and we got the wedding album out and looked at all the photographs. So many who were there on that day are no longer alive and it really brought it home to us how relatively few are left. We enjoyed reminiscing about the day and our week's honeymoon in Edinburgh. I was 21 and DH 22 and we looked so very young!

I want to thank all the very kind GNs who posted such kind and supportive messages on the loss of my big brother. We are only virtual friends, I know, but they were much appreciated. It felt like balm to my sadness.

Good morning from Malta where it is sunny and 37°C again. I absolutely love it and dread winter as I hate being cold.

Went for my nails yesterday, always a nice social event chatting with my nail technician, her sister (who also does amazing nails), their mum who often calls in, and other clients.

Watched tennis for the rest of the day. Very proud of the GB lad who did so well but so wish he could have won. I’m hoping Sinner wins the championship now.

It’s a year today since my poor dog Buzz had to be put to sleep due to a tumour on his liver. I miss him, he was a gentle giant who only knew how to love.

I’m going to do some serious cleaning today as I have neglected the chores a bit lately. The curtains in my room and the boys’ room could do with a wash (the latter having chocolatey finger marks on them 😄) so I shall have to lug the ladder in.

First, half an hour on my crosstrainer. I’m feeling the benefit already although my muscles complain.

Glad you survived your day out grandMattie. All that walking in the heat would have finished me off! Glad you enjoyed some of it though.

Gelisa, lovely photos. My best friend’s grandmother came from Lerwick and used to knit the most beautiful fair isle jumpers for us. She was the sweetest person, so gentle and kind.

Well, I had better get on. I can here my mother saying ‘this won’t get the baby a new dress nor yet mend the old one’😂

Wishing a good day to all .☀️

Good morning from s somerset

It was lovely to read about your day out yesterday GM

Yesterday I only did an hour at a time, before I became uncomfortable, wherever I was, a change of scene did the trick and I plodded through some sewing upstairs, another pack that I had prepped. Then downstairs to the cooler air for an hour and so the day went on

Today I have some hand sewing to do and I want, maybe, to pull a few things out of my wardrobe, toiles for the salvation army, all have been well made so no rubbish. I am very gradually replacing toiles by garments made in high quality fabrics and that has always been my aim. I am happy to make things well for other people to have via this charity

My house is clean enough and I am kind of keeping on top of my messy nature when tables etc fill up.

I want to go to the allotment but there is a road closure in the way and the alternative is a choice of a very dangerous route or a long single-track lane. I will need to put that visit off for two more days and even then it will be either a dawn or dusk visit

I set my alarm for 4am again, desperately trying to increase air flow to cool my house by a couple of degrees. I am at 23 again downstairs so the S/E glass is already covered and I am ready for the day. I napped yesterday for an hour, nothing wrong with that, natural when the body clock has been turned upside down

Gelisa Sat 11-Jul-26 05:54:25

Good message from Shetland where the sun is pouring in through the cottage window. It’s hot here by Shetland standards too. It’s been an enjoyable but tiring few days since my last post. My body clock is all out of flunter with the Zimmerdim and yesterday we didn’t wake up till nearly 9 o’ clock but today I’ve been wide awake since before 5. Today we are hoping to book a boat trip for later in the week to see the many seabirds, including gannets and puffins on the cliffs. We need to check we can take CDog. Only 2 dogs are allowed on a trip so you have to phone to check there’s space instead of the internet booking.
Later we will stay fairly local to the cottage visiting some particularly beautiful but rugged areas.
Take care everyone 🌸

Ashcombe Sat 11-Jul-26 05:51:03

Good morning! La Sarthe is hot. Again!

We rise early which makes the days seem long as it’s too hot to enjoy the garden beyond about 9.00 am. Yesterday we did an early shop in Lidl where my UK loyalty app saved DH a few euros!

Keep cool, everyone! 🦩💐😎🥰🦩

Two of the animal iterations

grandMattie Sat 11-Jul-26 05:23:48

Good morning from an already very warm Bristol.
I had a really lovely day yesterday, with two friends and a daughter.
We did go to Woodchester to the “Wind in the Willows” trail. There were only four of the characters, Toad, Mole, Ratty and Badger, in various guises- a bit like the Wallace and Grommit trail. Beach iteration was giving more ecological information about anything from dung beetles to red squirrels.
Unfortunately, there weren’t too many trees and we walked for over an hour is the beating sun. I started to feel unwell; probably heat exhaustion. We came back to the cafe, found some shade and had a quiet lunch. I might have been hungry too…
After a rest, the two older women wanted to do a nearly 90 minute walk. I refused saying I’d sit quietly and read a book; the youn* woman voted no as well and we spent a happy hour chatting. Another cuppa and scone before we came home in the air con van.
I’d forgotten how hot it was and was appalled by the wall of heat greeting me as I opened the van door! An oven.
Exhausted, I ate something as it was well past 6pm and was asleep in bed not long after 9pm.
Today will be quieter with only church coffee and chat. I might try to watch rugby - England vs Fiji. One of my WA ladies’ son has his first cap.
Keep cool 😎 and safe. Have a good weekend. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

RosesandLilac Sat 11-Jul-26 05:20:17

Good morning Mick, I too am wishing for rain. It’s pleasantly cool at the moment, the bedroom windows are wide open.
Yesterday was intolerable for me, I had 4 cool showers trying to stay comfortable.
The gardener came yesterday, he’s done a marvellous job of tidying up my front garden, it’s well worth having him.
I kept him well supplied with drinks, he doesn’t mind the heat.
Today I’ll be doing very little, I finished my embroidery yesterday so I will set up another one today and get going on it.
Have a lovely weekend everyone 🌹

Greyduster Sat 11-Jul-26 05:19:49

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire. You are not the only one who wishes it would rain, Mick. One can have too much of a good thing! It was stifling in school yesterday - one of the teachers loaned me a small fan or I thought I would have had to go home!

DS is coming down to spend the day with me today. He says he doesn’t want lunch, but I think we will have at least a sandwich, or some quiche out of the freezer. I have a couple of jobs lined up for him - compensation for having to look through all the photographs of his recent holiday😂! Before he comes, and while it is still cool, I will go and do a small shop for when the other half of the family come here to eat tomorrow. They will certainly want lunch!

Have the best day you can, folks.

Michael12 Sat 11-Jul-26 05:06:21
