Good morning everyone, and happy birthday to usedtobeblonde. *A stitch
in time* I can tell you that my part of the east coast is very cool and grey and we had our annual two days of summer last Thursday and Friday 😉. You don't live here for the good weather.
I'm up ridiculously early today - woke up just after 5am and couldn't get back to sleep, I have no idea why. So I got up and started the day by taking my once-a-week pill which has a mound of do's and don't s round it. One is staying upright for half an hour after taking it. Of course I then felt like going back to sleep ....... It's going to be one of those days I fear.
Bellasnanna that was a mountain of work you got through, and in that heat!
Roses&Lilac you are being very stoical about all the communications and uncertainties around your treatment, but I know it can't be easy for you. My thoughts are with you 💐
Good luck to Iris today Grandmattie.
July is not my favourite month in the garden, but I took some photos as I wandered around it yesterday. Everything that blooms has bloomed amazingly this year, and there's going to be a glut of Victoria plums come September!
I've no idea what I'm going to get up to today, but I shall enjoy getting up to it - if I can stay awake 😉. Enjoy your day too x

Good morning Micheal and all GN's from a sunny but with a slight breeze in North Yorkshire as I peer out from behind closed curtains. At the moment reasonably cool inside.

Today I need to sort out the chaos from yesterday and try and get myself back into something like a normal timeframe. After getting back from the shopping I felt exhausted and with so little sleep, and my back bad I sat about for ages. Then I got a file out to hunt for my MOT, but no success and gave up trying. Total lack of energy and too hot to do anything.

I eventually watched a bit of the rugby and then went to lie down to ease my back about 4 ish, planning to have half an hour and then make an effort to make a meal and wash up etc. The next thing I knew it was 8pm! Very glad to have had some sleep at last, which I was in much need of, but it put everything out of kilter. Too late to start cooking etc, so a sandwich was my best effort, as I didnt want to wake up in the middle of the night hungry. Of course, when I finally went to bed couldnt get off to sleep again!

So today, I must make the most of a cooler morning to get things sorted and cleaned up. There is something on in the town and also some gardens open, but I dont feel up to being out in the sun, so it will be the radio and trying to keep cool for me.

A happy birthday Usedtobe blonde. Hope you enjoy the cycling Micheal. Admire all you industrious GN's and hope your plans for the day go well.

Good morning. We shall finish our journey home today and get the washing on straight away. The house will be hot and stuffy I’m sure. The garden should be fine as DDs and friends have been watering for us.
Off to have our included breakfast soon.
A pleasant day wished for all.

Greyduster Sun 12-Jul-26 07:26:56

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where there is a strong, cool breeze and light cloud. I think we are set for a slightly cooler day🤞🏻.

DS came down earlier than I was expecting yesterday and I was out cleaning the bird bath when he was ringing the doorbell and panicking because no-one was answering it. Then I heard my phone ringing. I told him off. Both my children have been given keys to my house. They almost never have them when they come here so they all stand outside ringing the bloomin’. bell. We had a very pleasant day but he had to leave early.

I spent the rest of the afternoon trawling through a plastic crate of old photos. I found the ones I wanted but realised that most of the ones I was looking at meant absolutely nothing to me. I couldn’t remember where half of them had been taken or why we had taken them. Time to get rid I think. Thank goodness for digital photography.

DD and the menfolk are coming for a late lunch today. They will no doubt stand ringing the doorbell too!

Happy Birthday UTBB. Enjoy your day🎂💐🍷!

Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning from an oven-hot hotel room on the Wirral where already I daren't open the curtains because of the heat. My stint of being moral support for my daughter will finish on Monday - she and her husband are coping fine - and on Tuesday I'll trek back to my lovely cold, dark flat in Cornwall and say hello to my patio.

Yesterday I spent all day lying on the bed between two fans as the hotel has no air conditioning. Beyond the fans the air is roasting. I've never been so idle, even when I had my knee replacements! The staff have offered to strip and remove the duvets for guests so we can sleep under just the cover if we choose. I've never watched so much TV and am grateful for Wimbledon and the World Cup!

Good morning from s somerset

A cool slow and calm day yesterday, potching with hand sewing, cutting out and so on. Then I suddenly decided, early evening, that my tomatoes on the allotment needed me.

Two hours later I was back home, 8.30 pm, having had a good chat with an alloment neighbour but also carried 6 heavy cans from the water trough, needless to say I was very hot until I had that essential cool shower, body temperature needs to be reduced back to normal by whatever way

I slept very well and the house is now cool enough again today as a basepoint for todays heat build-up, all precautions having been taken

Todays plan? Gentle pottering all day

BlueSapphire Sun 12-Jul-26 07:15:14

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and overcast Northampton, feeling a bit cooler today.

Did very little yesterday apart from watching the rugby and reading, and managed to finish my book.

A massive plume of black smoke appeared suddenly in the evening - apparently a big fire on the industrial estate about half a mile away, so had to close the open upstairs windows; the fire services seemed to bring it under control fairly quickly.

If it stays cooler today I may have a bus ride to the shops - I am going to a ruby wedding celebration at the weekend and realised yesterday I have no gift or card! I think it will have to be a gift voucher from M&S.

DS phoned yesterday evening to ask if I was ok, having seen all the smoke from his house. He will come down this morning to change my landing light bulb and do another little job for me.

Roast chicken for dinner tonight, followed by strawberry pavlova.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Redcar Sun 12-Jul-26 07:13:42

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy with a cool easterly breeze, so I have windows open to get some air in.
Some shouty people outside last night, nothing to do with the football, people leaving a party I think.

Happy Birthday utbb, I hope you have a lovely day.

I hope Iris does well in the RDA finals grandmattie.

DD2 will call in later today, after the 8 year old has been playing cricket, along with her cousin. I don’t know if DD1 will come over.
I’ll be pottering around today again, nothing too strenuous though.
Safe journeys to all who are travelling today. I hope the roads aren’t too busy.

Have as good a day as possible for you all.

luluaugust Sun 12-Jul-26 07:04:23

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Enjoyed a visit from DD2 and watched the tennis yesterday. Today will cook some lunch and watch the men’s final, otherwise a quiet day
Happy birthday utbb

Astitchintime Sun 12-Jul-26 06:55:43

Good morning from the NE Mids. Pleasantly cool this morning and the cloud movement indicates a change in direction of the breeze, it is now an easterly and I wonder what the weather is like on the East coast 🤔🤔
I will be doing the ironing before having a shower this morning and have no idea what’s in store for the rest of the day…….all depends on the weather.
Have a good day one and all!

Grandmabatty Sun 12-Jul-26 06:54:46

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and dry, after a day of rain yesterday. Utbb happy birthday to you. GrandMattie North by North West is one of my favourite hitchcock films. That, and Rear Window. Bellasnana a very productive day for you!
Yesterday I did some housework and washing. I went to aldi and stocked up for the week. Sadly, Aldi no longer seems to be cheaper than tesco. I,too, watched N by NW. I removed my new hoover from its packaging. 3 boxes! A ridiculous amount of cardboard, most of which is now in the bin. I tried out the hoover which is noisier than the one I had but much more effective.
Today I'm making gooseberry fool and that's about all. The weeding still needs done. Have a good day all

kittylester Sun 12-Jul-26 06:51:44

Good morning all from a breezy North Leicestershire.

I didn't stay up to watch the football and, apparently, DH fell asleep. We need to get going early anyway as we are going away for a few days. Really looking forward to doing nothing.

Happy birthday UTBB. Have a super day.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Gagagran Sun 12-Jul-26 06:34:28

Many happy returns UTBB!

Gagagran Sun 12-Jul-26 06:33:39

Good Morning all from a rather windy, central south coast. I have had to close the window in the study as it was blowing the vertical blinds horizontal. Too much sun and now too much wind! Can we just moderate it all please?

Like Mick we shall be watching the Tour de France later. Love the scenery and recognising many of the places we have been to or through. It is my favourite sporting event of the year. Pleased about England's win last night but I only follow football from afar and seldom watch it. DH does but he will watch any sport and in his younger days would play any sport!

Bellas you are not alone in finding our NHS baffling. It is! It needs a radical revamp but has become a political hot potato and no party has the courage to do it.

Take care everyone and kind regards to all with struggles or worries of any sort.

grandMattie Sun 12-Jul-26 06:25:19

Happy birthday 🎈 utbb

monk08 Sun 12-Jul-26 06:24:02

Good morning all from the Black country it appears to be a bit cooler at the moment, long may it last.
Didn't sleep as well having gone to bed after the football, I didn't watch it but our friends didn't leave until it finished.
Today we are over to Redditch where our friends son is doing a barbecue. Will get some ironing done before we leave.
Happy birthday Usedtobeblonde 🎂🎉🍷.
Have the best day you can whatever your plans and stay cool 😎.

Ashcombe Sun 12-Jul-26 06:23:33

Good morning from La Sarthe where it is forecast to be hot again. Currently, we’re enjoying the coolness of the early morning with open windows throughout before the unbearable heat returns.

Yesterday we drove to our local Intermarché to top up my car and do a mini shop for essentials. Being a mild hybrid, my car is quite light on fuel consumption especially on longer runs like the journey here.

Have a good day, everyone. 🦩🥰😎💐🦩

GrannyGravy13 Sun 12-Jul-26 06:18:23

Good morning Mick and all it’s going to be rather cloudy here today, with a high of 27° I shall be on my sun lounger in the shade reading, a repeat of yesterday. Struggling to keep blood oxygen levels above the so called admission zone keeping everything crossed that the steroids will work their magic asap 🤞

So pleased for our footie team, I will have very happy AC and GC ⚽️⚽️⚽️ Go England 👏👏👏

It’s a worrying time for you RosesandLilac

Good luck to Iris grandMattie

Bellasnana I am exhausted reading your post

(((Hugs))) to all in need 🙋‍♀️

Bellasnana Sun 12-Jul-26 05:45:49

Good morning from Malta where it will be a sunny day with a high of 37°C.

Yesterday, after I’d done my half hour on the cross trainer, I was so sweaty I thought I’d do the worst jobs before I showered so I started with sweeping the steps down to the garages since nobody else bothers and it looks awful.

I had planned to wash them as well but after doing each step with my dustpan and brush, (there are a lot of them!) I thought I’d better leave that but I did wash my own front steps. Then I steam mopped all the floors before showering.

Had a break before bringing the ladder in to get the bedroom curtains down in two rooms, the other one has a Roman blind, but my room and the boys room have patio doors so just one long curtain. Both are now washed and back in place so I felt quite pleased with my efforts.

Watched the ladies final which was quite a match. Men’s later today which I’m hoping Sinner will win.

Usual day today, Mass then a chat with my pal in Leicester via FaceTime.

RosesandLilac, I don’t understand the system at all in UK. A letter and a text to tell you about a phone call? More waiting and worrying, it’s enough to drive you mad. 😢

Thinking of you all and hoping your day goes well.☀️

grandMattie Sun 12-Jul-26 05:29:33

🤞🤞 R&L re. your pre-op pre-op!

grandMattie Sun 12-Jul-26 05:28:11

Good morning from Bristol. I have my front door and bedroom window wide open, making a lovey cross breeze…
Quiet Saturday, although coffee in church was surprisingly busy. Not sure whether people found the church cooler or they wanted some company.
I spent the day quietly, watching N by NW on tv, amongst other things.
Today, Iris has the British RDA finals. I’m not sure where they take place, but I don’t think they are on the other side of the country. She was looking forward to them.
I shall keep quiet and do very little again today.
May you have a blessed Sunday free of sorrow, anxiety or pain. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

RosesandLilac Sun 12-Jul-26 05:24:06

Good morning, it’s pleasantly cool here in south Glos with the windows wide open. The sky is lightening, I’ve been watching it for the last two hours or so.
Yesterday was another day of doing little, today I want to make some flapjacks and clean the fridge out.
I will get up shortly and water all my pots, it’s too hot to do them in the evening.
I had a letter and a text yesterday for a phone consultation with the BRI Thoracic team Tuesday, I was waiting for a pre-op appointment. I can’t imagine they’ll do a pre-op by phone will they? Perhaps it’s just to tell me when my pre-op is? Who knows.
Laying here I realise i do need to tidy my bedroom up, I’ve been lazy recently so that’s something else to do this morning.
Have a lovely day x
🌹
