A thread for people who have been on GN a long time

I was sorting a few papers out yesterday and a writing pad sheet fluttered to the floor and on it it said just ‘December 2013’
and underneath that was a list of names, that I soon realised were GN posters. It was probably not long after I had joined GN and maybe me trying to remember names but I thought some old timers may be interested to have a look and see who they recognise,
It might set some memories off

Mosiacwarts was on stress of selling and buying your home . Can't remember the proper name she changed her name to Shandy 57 then changed it again but can't remember to what.
The thread was started by Craftylady who is now karmalady who is on lot of threads for arts and crafts. This was in March 2019 when I joined after my house sale fell through 2nd time. There was a lot of us moving that year. And many still on various threads.

Shandy when she was moasicwarts lived in a station house and remember bits feel off it . Remember Morpeth mentioned. She moved to a bungalow and if I remember correctly the flat roof blew off and problems with black mold.

Someone moved to Devon but can't remember her name. Franbern moved that year to a apartment and she still writes on here. Like me and others that moved that year very happy with our moves.

I miss Grany!

It was one of her choices, and she nearly made an offer in a flat in Exmouth with estuary views, though I think in the end she felt she wanted to stay where she was in the North.

Grammaretto Mon 20-Jul-26 12:00:02

Thanks MartavTaurus I remember the new name now you mention it.
I wonder why Devon. I thought she was settled in NE......

Does anyone hear from the poster who was originally. mosaicwarts? She then changed her username to something nicer but I can't recall what.
She was on a moving house stress thread for ages as she was trying to sell her big house near Berwick on Tweed.
I hope she's keeping ok.

Yes , Shandy. I met up with her when she was doing house viewings in Devon. She's OK last time I heard

Been here from I think it was 2012 so yes remember lots of those names.
I enjoyed GN in those days it was soft kind and gentle, helpful.

I do pop in now n then but very rarely now, in fact had to change my password and really couldn't be bothered.

But I did this morning so I could pop in have a quick look around and have posted this morning which is unusual for me these days.

I don't think I would miss it if it was taken down and disappeared into thin air.

Jura has returned numerous times with different names. Some time ago she left announcing gransnet was bad for her mental health. So far as I’m aware she isn’t currently posting - posters don’t get banned because “some people” don’t believe they have a right to post on gransnet

On the last count I think there were 6 different user names.
She should have been banned when she posted very personal information regarding GreatNans daughter.

Please direct me to where in my post I mentioned GreatNans disappearance because I’ve read it several times and can’t see where I did.

You really don't know the full story behind Greatnan's disappearance so I think it's very unfair of you to raise that subject

It was here

I am puzzled as to why people remove themselves then return under another name.

The treatment in France was amazing and saved his life, but managing all of it for three years alone was very hard. Having said that we have had a great NHS follow-up response here.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 18-Jul-26 12:01:16

Medical treatment is excellent in Spain Mamie but I totally agree with you. When Himself needed chemotherapy we
were both grateful to live where we do. It’s comfort in the known I think.

Best wishes from me to you and your husband * Mamie*. I used to follow your posts from France and hope you are settling back in the UK.

Thank you. The move with post-Brexit rules was a nightmare, but we have settled in very comfortably now.

Ah I wouldn’t want to intrude Mamie concerning your reasons. That’s personal stuff and I respect that. It was just that I’d twigged you were back here is all. Best wishes from me for your family situation.

Thank you. We could not have had more kindness and support in France, but in the end home is where you need to be, isn't it.

@Iam64 hello. We had some lovely meet-ups in the North West in the early days . I remember WhenIam64 organising things. I think she left after Greatnan’s accident.

So you now live in the UK again Mamie? Welcome back.

Yes, we have been back for six months. I won't go into the details of my husband's serious illness and consequent disability, but it was time to come home.
