Its light and dry with a grey looking sky over Brackley , still no sign of rain its been 4 to 6 weeks without any and the ground is parched .
Usual trip into Bicester to do a shop and chat to those i know , and a visit to local chippy for Fish & Chips at lunchtime , before I settle down to watch the Tour De France .
Health OK ,
Take Care,

Good morning from a cool and cloudy Suffolk where I had planned to do the ironing but now have an excuse to delay it!

On my way home from a lovely lunchtime with my 3 friends I stopped the car on the top lane to chat to a neighbour who was standing by his gate. He lives alone and is not well. He said he was running short of essential food so I’m taking him shopping this morning. If he doesn’t feel up to a car ride he’ll give me a list.

We too visited Porto Cristo about 42 years ago before DD2 was born. We went to the caves of Drach and were sitting in the very steeply tiered seats when DS dropped his bottle of juice. We could hear it clattering down every step to its resting place( which we never found).

Hope all have a good day especially those not feeling their best.

Good morning from bright South Lanarkshire.

We had a lovely time with the children yesterday. We decided to go to the beach but not their local one as it would be rammed with people so we drove a few miles along the coast to Gullane.
They had an absolutely ball playing on the sand and jumping the waves on the incoming tide. It’s a very beautiful, long sandy stretch and wasn’t crowded.

Today will be quiet, I’ll enjoy a couple of hours outside with my book.

Thinking of those with struggles or worries. Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey and cool Carlisle. I'm hoping for rain, but will it? I think not!
I went into town yesterday for a prescription mostly but I also stocked up on salad. Unfortunately, I passed the bakery counter and an Eccles cake found its way into the basket. It was delicious though.
Home for a bit of cleaning and tidying. Then a video call from DS2 in Sydney and a call from my sister after which it was time to depart for the U3A meeting. This time it was a talk by the Samaritans, basically they want volunteers but that won't be me. I come and go too much as DH and I found in the past when we tried to volunteer for other charities.
I spoke with my brother in the evening, I'm trying to coordinate with his proposed visit to my sister but I think the times won't be right for me.
I spent the evening watching the Tour de France highlights and reading.

Today...not much, just pottering and reading I think plus I'll pop out for a walk shortly. Have a good day everyone if you can.

Good morning from another warm morning in N Surrey. I am looking forward to a few cooler days tbis weekend onwards. The garden is so very dry. I will water the pots, but the grass and all the other plants in the ground I am afraid will have to do the best they can. The hose pipe ban stops me from watering them. This autumn will be a cut back and dig out exercise. The grass will survive I expect.. Several lavender bushes are now too overgrown although the lavender heads are lovely. There comes a time when old lavender bushes have outgrown themselves.

Hope everyone has a gentle day.

Good morning. Another sunny day to come. I know we need rain but I do love this weather.
My diabetic checks went well yesterday apart from the cholesterol result which was higher. A bit puzzling.
Some food shopping and prep. for visitors tomorrow. Friends we have know since DH did his apprenticeship with the chap.
This evening we are being taken out to dinner by our family . belated anniversary and birthday celebration.
Hope Marydoll can find some relief soon.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Hi Sar53 our children grew up playing in Bradwell Marina.

The restaurant/bar is really good I hope you have sampled it 🙋‍♀️

Cossy Fri 17-Jul-26 07:31:25

Good morning all

Awake earlier than my norm, due to DD barking mini dashies. Roll on completion date! When 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Cool here, hoorah!

Hope you enjoy your F&C.

Everyone, hope you all have the best weekend you can, thinking of those going through awful things atm. 🥀🌻

Sar53 Fri 17-Jul-26 07:28:29

Good morning from Bradwell Marina. It's cool and still at the moment but due to be hot later.
We are leaving here at 11 to go home.
We've had a lovely week with good friends. Lots of laughs, lots of wine and some good meals.
It will be nice to sleep in my own bed tonight.
I hope you all have a great weekend xx

Grandmabatty Fri 17-Jul-26 07:25:33

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 13° and cloudy. It will probably burn off like yesterday. Bellasnana I remember The caves of Drach in Majorca and thought it a wonderful experience. See you did too utbb. GrandMattie your baking sounds wonderful.
Yesterday I pottered about. I managed to do some weeding before the heat forced me indoors. The fan I had ordered arrived too. It's very smart with a built in air purifier and has a wee remote. However, it interferes with my tv and must be on the same signal as my tv remote! It's very funny. Ds sent me photos of the 20 week scan. Half way there.
Today the family arrive home from holiday. I've missed them and look forward to catching up. I will head to Aldi and buy some bits and pieces for them. Then I'm invited to Ds for lunch. I'm looking forward to seeing him. Although we are in touch daily, I havent actually seen him for a while. I won't do much else. I had a shocking night's sleep and was awake a lot. Restless legs and sore feet do not make for comfort! Anyway, have a good day all

Good morning everyone from Anglesey.
I did a post on Wednesday that just would not post, so fingers crossed for today. 🤞
Belated happy biryhday to Ginny and I hope you're feeling better, Usedtobeblonde and that things have settled with your DGD. Maybe it's nerves about the move that's making her on edge.
We love Mallorca, Bellasnana, loads to see and do, but also quiet areas too. The kids loved a day at Wacky Wet West back in the day and the Pirates show.
Enjoy your Rafa Nadal experience.

I like the fabric of the 2nd top, Karma. I'm always amazed at how quickly you can make something up. I enjoy crafting, but I'm slow.

We've had a quiet week of the occasional local errand, but mainly being at the caravan. We've got a big decking area and garden so we don't feel cooped up. The little chap is as brown as a berry and has loved his paddling pool. The site manager gave us an off cut of guttering for him to use as a ramp to roll cars down and make a splash.
Going to go to Cemaes this morning for Slimming World and we'll probably have a run about on the beach afterwards.

Wishing everyone the best day possible. 🌻

Marzipan22 Fri 17-Jul-26 07:22:30

Good morning from my patio in Cornwall, which I worked on most of yesterday to get it looking good again. The sky is clear and blue. A new young robin has moved in and is very adept at catching insects on the wing. He sunbathed on the flat edge of a wooden planter, stretching his wings out and tipping his face up to the sun. So cute.

Today I must go out early, ahead of the heat, to buy a birthday present for my eldest son. I'll head for Waterstones, always full of interesting things. I've booked seven seats at our local little cinema so that we can all go to watch Toy Story 5 on his birthday.

Regarding yesterday's chat about figs, I had a fig tree on my allotment and the first time I picked a fruit to eat it was full of ants, so that put paid to my eating fresh figs! 😃

Redcar Fri 17-Jul-26 07:20:09

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s cool and cloudy. No doubt the cloud will lift later. Yesterday I swept and washed the bathroom and kitchen floors. I ordered blackout blinds for the porch door and window and different blinds for the kitchen door. Better late than never, I hope they’ll reduce the heat in the house. I expect the weather will change as soon as they are fitted!

bellasnana your trip to Majorca sounds very interesting and busy! I remember going to the Caves and Porto Christo many years ago when on holiday with a friend.

grandmattie, I’m in awe of your baking session yesterday! And another busy day for you today. Enjoy your lunch with your DD.

Last day of school term here today and for the 11 year old, the last day of Junior school.

Bingo at lunch time today, I wonder how busy it will be, school holidays won’t really affect numbers as most of us are elderly!

Have the best day possible everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 17-Jul-26 07:18:09

Good morning Mick and all 🙋‍♀️

It is cloudy but still warm here.

Yesterday afternoon the 11yr old had his school leavers picnic and presentation on the school field, and yes I cried 😿. The leavers performed two songs, there was much laughter and well dones. I was there when he was born, brought him, his Dad and DD home here from hospital and been close to him ever since, I love that boy!

Tonight we are going out to dinner with DD and her boys, and trying to organise for the eldest two GS’s to join us (DS and wife are away)

I am feeling OK’ish still taking things easy.

Will read your news now 🙋‍♀️

Usedtobeblonde Fri 17-Jul-26 07:10:01

* Bellasnana* I remember visiting the Caves of Drach in Majorca which was a similar experience, it was something quite magical with the concert at the end.

Usedtobeblonde Fri 17-Jul-26 07:07:35

Good morning from Stockport.
This weather is not suiting me at all , one of the penalties of age I suppose.

I had a very difficult day yesterday, the person from the Building Society forgot about the visit,, I was very cross but two women turned up three hours after the time, after a phone call from me, full of apologies and successfully closed the account.
The money is already in my current account and I must deal with that after breakfast.
This is my getting all my eggs in one basket to make my affairs simple for my family.

I did some washing but it is still waiting to be hung outside, my shoulders won’t allow me to do that but my “help” went to family for a meal after work and were too late to do it.

I have plans to go out for a meal tonight with my friend across the road but I shall see how the day progresses before finally deciding.

I hope the poorlies and their carers have a decent day and we all find some blessings .

Astitchintime Fri 17-Jul-26 07:03:59

Good morning from the NE Mids. It is overcast this morning with not a breath of a breeze although if it is anything like yesterday the clouds will soon disperse.
Nothing in particular on the agenda today apart from deadheading some roses and a little weeding……probably do that whilst it’s cooler.
Have a good day one and all!

Gagagran Fri 17-Jul-26 06:59:02

Good Morning everyone from the central south coast where another hot day is on the cards. Still no sign of any rain and there are cracks forming in our garden's clay soil so it will need a good downpour to eradicate those.

Tesco delivery this morning and I have to hunt for a photograph which is not in the place I thought I had stored it. The subject is coming for a visit soon and will be rather put out if it is not on display!

Take care everyone and hope all those with troubles of any sort have a better day.

grandMattie Fri 17-Jul-26 06:49:51

Apart from the damage (so sorry), the storm must have been lovely and cooling, ash.
bellas, your holiday sounds lovely despite the heat, although it’s unlike you to complain about it. The boys must be in heaven…

NannyJan53 Fri 17-Jul-26 06:49:44

Good morning from a cooler Black Country, but the temperature will rise as the day goes on. Two weeks this heatwave has lasted so far!

Great walk yesterday morning, as it is in a Country Park it was mostly shaded so not too hot. Then coffee and chat in the cafe afterwards.

Not a lot on today, just hairdressers in the afternoon for a dry cut.

Glad that you are all having such a lovely holiday Bellas

Wishing you all the best day possible

Gingster Fri 17-Jul-26 06:41:16

Good morning and I’m up early as I have a day trip booked to Lee Valley.

Coach and boat trip with the U3A.
Cab is picking me up and I’ll meet my friend where the coach will be waiting.

Dd is coming in to sit with her dad. He doesn’t want her here, but I would worry all day that he’d fallen over. She can make him coffees and lunch and potter around.

It’s overcast at the moment and lovely and cool. I expect the heat will return this afternoon.🥵.

Take care all 🌺

luluaugust Fri 17-Jul-26 06:41:06

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. This has turned into a busy week we attended DHs eye appointment yesterday but have to go back next week as some test didn’t work properly, a nuisance in this heat
Today we are visiting a friend’s exhibition of local craft makers and probably a sandwich lunch to follow
I have to start getting ready for a family visit soon
Best wishes

kittylester Fri 17-Jul-26 06:40:51

Good morning all from a breezy but warm North Leicestershire.

Up early today as DH has gym and then is off for coffee. I need to do a top up shop and then go to the garden centre for compost.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Bellasnana Fri 17-Jul-26 06:38:47

Good morning from Mallorca where it is very hot and sunny.

We had a busy day yesterday. The dinosaur park was a great success although the temperature reached 39°C so we were all very sweaty and glad to visit the Caves of Ham (named after someone, nothing to do with meat!😄) which were deliciously cool.

However, there were an awful lot of steps, some very steep, but it was a wonderful experience seeing the most incredible stalagmites and stalactites which looked like intricate carvings. There was also a huge lake at the bottom, crystal clear water, and two little boats which lit up followed by a lovely music show. It was magical.

Unfortunately DGS2 was desperate for the loo and couldn’t hold it but DD3 had a coke bottle in her bag which came to the rescue just in time! The lights also went out as the show began which served to hide his dignity, not that he was in the slightest bit perturbed! Oh the innocence of childhood. It caused much amusement in our guided tour!

After the caves we went to Porto Cristo for some lunch. It was too hot to eat but I struggled through a prawn salad which was delicious.

We then took the boys to a huge indoor play place. Never seen such a lot of different things for them to do. They spent two happy hours playing there before we drove back to our home away from home and they all went for a dip in the pool.

They had the pool to themselves, I went to watch them for a while but didn’t feel like getting in myself.

I had an up and down night so am late waking up now. I think I hear the boys stirring so here we go for another day of fun, starting with a visit to the Rafa Nadal Academy and museum!
I’m excited!😂🎾🎾

Wishing you all a good day, take care all.☀️

Gelisa Fri 17-Jul-26 06:26:46

Good morning from on board a ferry close to Aberdeen after a smooth crossing. I’ve no idea of the weather as the cabin has no window. Heading for Lauder today where we have a b&b booked. We are heading there via Glamis castle.
Take care 🌸

Greyduster Fri 17-Jul-26 06:22:25

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Cool, grey and breezy in South Yorkshire this morning. It started off that way yesterday but ended up being a very warm afternoon and evening. And still no rain in the forecast.
Had a decent walk yesterday morning and then lunch with DD, but felt rather ‘off’ in the afternoon and that is still hanging around.
Today I have an early physio appointment and may call in at the gym if I feel up to it, but at the moment I don’t. I also have to drive to a larger branch of Boots to see if they can fill a prescription for something that my local pharmacy has failed to source. If they can’t, then I shall have to go back to my GP and get her to prescribe something else. It’s not life threatening.

Have the best day you can, folks.
