Bottled water

I have a lot of time for Welsh Water. They are now not-for-profit, and I am on their priority list - whenever there is an outage they are straight round with bottles of water on my doorstep. And their communication is good too.

I feel very lucky as my water comes from a bore hole on my land - no mains water available. It is lovely and cold and, as I only drink water, tastes really good. I do notice the difference if I drink the local Welsh water.

Never bought water for taste or to avoid drinking tap water. Do occasionally by a bottle of lemon lime sparkling water only as I enjoy the taste and the bubbles.

I used to think water was one of life's luxuries. Pure....out of the tap and Birmingham water was soft as silk and from the Elan Valley. Welsh water was soft too and deliciously cold. Lancashire water was good. Hard water has its perks. I love it for my skin, not so good for the white goods and white streaks around the taps....London water is best avoided. Undrinkable. Bristol water is almost palatable. I remember when we didn't have a water meter oh how lucky we were to live in those days. I wish I still did. Baths a-plenty.....water the garden to your heart's content. Water was almost free. Not anymore!

Our tap water doesn't taste too bad, but its very hard water so we always filter it. Our main issue is the water pressure is awful and the supply goes off frequently. We keep a few bottles of water for emergencies. I try and re-use glass bottles of mineral/spring water.

Seems to be a lot of smugness here on who has the best water.

Where l live, our tap water comes from the Lake District. Which claims to have the best drinking water in the country. According to United Utilities

However by the time it reaches me It is the treated with chlorine. Which l think is a common place practice throughout the UK

So, it ends up tasting like swimming pool water. l use a water filter jug from Tesco with modestly priced replaceable cartridges.

Really improves the taste. Still creating waste with the disposable cartridges but less than single use plastic bottles.

I always use tap water.
Sometimes the taste is a bit of, but we are a hard water area.

I couldn’t justify the cost of buying bottled water.
Even in the very hot weather we’ve had recently, the tap water was deliciously cold and refreshing.
Also, I wouldn’t have enough room in my fridge for lots of bottled water.
We all pay water rates so use it.

When visiting any EU countries I always buy bottled water there. I wouldn’t risk tummy upsets.

After more than thirty hours without water we are grateful for the deliveries of bottled water by SE water. It looks as if the problem may be resolved late this evening.
I take it nobody would refuse bottled water under these circumstances.

My tap water is awful, it generally tastes like drinking a swimming pool, sometimes with TCP in it too. It taints veg and anything cooked in it. I used to have a Zero water filter jug but the filters are around £16 per filter and barely last 3 weeks now so I have got a Brita Max jug and filters, nowhere near as good but I can at least drink it. I only buy bottled water if I am out and have forgotten to take a bottle out with me.#, and if there are glass bottles available I buy them raather than plastic.

I only drink bottled water, lemon and lime sparkling spring water. Not because I don't like the taste of tap water although I do have filters in the kitchen, downstairs loo and the bathroom which are all main supplied. I don't drink anything else no tea, coffee, wine etc.

Which is an eco-friendly Somerset spring water packaged in climate-friendly cardboard cartons.

I used to have a Brita filter but now I have a water filter on my tap. I can’t drink tap water I can smell it and it tastes horrible. The dogs refused to drink it and would only drink from the pond. Now I have the filter they drink the water.

Not in this weather, surely!

I hope the problem IS resolved later this evening - and assume SE water are trying their best, but I know how inconvenient it can be without mains water.

The last time we experienced this, I was beginning to take on the role of carer for my OH having myself just been discharged from a three-month hospital stay, that resulted in the necessity for 2 nurse visits, evening and morning, to carry out a procedure which had to be done in sterile conditions - and hand-washing for the nurses, and me, was essential! Thank goodness for bottled water (but what a faff it was), if it had not been readily available, I might have had to have been re-admitted!

My OH was pre-diabetic at the time and commented he was drinking so much water he thought the 'taps would run dry' - and then, they did.

We only have spring water which is particle and UV filtered. After very heavy rain the water can be yellow. Not very good for the laundry.At the moment we are trying to use as little water as possible as there is no overflow from the settlement tank. One of our garden ponds has already dried up. We are worried incase the surrounding moor catches fire. We will be reliant on the fire fighters and helicopter water drops. The photo was taken from our front door last time the moor caught fire.

On the Greek islands all the residents drink bottled water

Our water comes from the lakes, so corporation pop for us, tbh, it does get filtered by the fridge freezer.

Plastic waste is recycled as you must know- often very imaginatively.
I once had a very soft scarf which felt like cashmere which was made from recycled plastic bottle!
I buy bottled sparkling water for the principal reason that I prefer the taste which I assume I am permitted to do?

Probably left traces of micro plastic around your neck.

Our mains water is lovely and cold and tastes just like water. I think in England cold water comes through a tank in the attic, doesn't it, not like here?

It varies, some have a tank in the loft but many don’t.We don’t, we have a combi boiler.
