Does anyone have a middle name?

I think I'd be cross if my siblings had middle names and I didn't.

I had a middle name but over the years, I’ve dropped it. I hope my kids don’t have problems , when the time comes. I’ll have to look into that.

My neighbour encontered a few problems, simply because sone of her official paperwork includes her middle name, and some doesn't.

I have Elizabeth as my middle name as my Grandmothers were Elizabeth and Eliza. In my family at least, middle names are usually family ones.

Yes, Elizabeth is a family name on my mother's side. It is a classic, timeless name that I have always liked and we gave it to our daughter as a middle name. One of my cousins and his wife decided to give their youngest daughter two middle names in honour of the two grandmothers. Sadly, the names were extremely dated, along the lines of Vera and Mildred. We felt very sorry for the poor child.

My mum died 9 months before her great granddaughter was born and her parents gave her the middle name Lily , after my mum .

I've got 2,one is after my grandma and I have no idea why the other one is there... But I started with my 2 eldest only having one middle name but my daughter got 2. She has 3 boys who all have 2 middle names.

Also there is nothing posh about middle names.

Neither me nor my two brothers have middle names but all our children have middle names, their children have two names and now I have two great grandchildren, one born just 3 days ago who have two names but hyphenated.

I have a middle name ...very pretty one, it's a flower......my 2 boys have their grandads names as their middle names....my DD just has a name I like as her middle name.....one GD has no middle name ....one GD has my name as her middle name....and oldest GD has her GGMs name as her middle name

I’m known by my middle name and I (still) blame the parents, even though I’m 71. My first name is pointless because it’s never been used at all but I always need to enter it on official documents. Still, I have illustrious company in one James Paul McCartney!

I have a middle name. I have always been known by a diminutive of that name. I have never, apart from officially, been known by my first name which I hate 🤷‍♀️. Crazy!
My children have 2nd names as do 4 of my grandchildren. The other 4 rejoice in 3 names, mostly ‘family’ associated. If I can’t sleep I recite all their names - all 20 - in order of age. I get quite confused 🤔

When my eldest granddaughter was born, her Mum gave the middle name of my (then dead) Mother. My daughter and she had always been very close.
I had forgotten about this, and then a couple of years ago, when that Granddaughter graduated from University, I actually burst into tears when her full name was read out, and I heard my Mums' name.

My brother and sister have middle names which are family names. I am the eldest and they took so long choosing a name I was only given one!

I too am known by my middle name. It’s an absolute nuisance, and hasn’t been replicated by any of my siblings with our children. They all have middle names in the middle where they belong and can be forgotten or just an initial.

Yes I have one, an Old Testament name that nobody can ever spell so I never use it.My Mum isn’t usually given to be fanciful so I don’t know what came over her back then.😁

I have always wished I had a middle name. Not a lot of people did have in my era, but I always thought it would be nice if you weren't keen on your first name' you could use your middle name. I wouldn't have chosen the name my parents gave me but I think it kind of suits me now
I gave both my kids middle names which they don't use, one uses a shortened version of her first name and the other one uses a shortened version of our surname, mainly because that was what the kids at school called him and he is in his 50s now. His wife does give him his proper name as do his sister and I.

I am the middle of 5 siblings, the only one that wasn't given a middle name (even my parents had middle names)
I wanted one as a child. As I felt left out! 2 of my siblings often picked on me about it.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest now.

My eldest g.daughter was given, as a middle name, my Mother's name. Over the years I had forgotten about this, but when I attended her Graduation a couple of years ago, I suddenly found myself in tears as they announce the full name of each Graduate and I heard my Mum' s name.
