Hammer toe

A few years ago I had two hammer toes straightened. No doubt that’s another treatment no longer available on the NHS, as hammer toes are not usually fatal.

I’ve got pain in my shin , which the physio thinks is linked to my toes , affecting the way I walk . I know toe operations have a long recovery, so I’d rather not have surgery .

My mum got it for me from her "betterware" catalogue or something.
The thing with toes is that they're very strong willed, aren't they?
They won't just go where they should be, and insist on going their own way.

I agree with Nannytopsy but if you decide to have surgery, choose an orthopaedic surgeon who only deals with feet as you will get a better result.

I have had an operation on a hammer toe on each foot. They were causing pain in the balls of my feet. Great success , no problems since.

I did look at a splint thing but it didn’t look comfortable.

I used to wear a sort of splint on my bent up toe.
It was uncomfortable for me, and I couldn't manage it for more than about half an hour.

If I wore it to bed, I found I'd taken it off in my sleep.
