for those who watched Neighbours from the start

I was busy working in the Square Mile when it started but my boss and his wife suggested that I give it a try when I left to have my son aged 37. I set up my own business whilst heavily pregnant but stopped for lunch and Neighbours. When Jnr was born, he too recognised the theme tune.
Today I was watching the second series of Longleat and the Marquess watched Neighbours during his lunch break with his grandfather’s No. One handyman. They are strong friends still.

Dds were addicted to it in the late 80s/early 90s. At 11, dd1 went on her own one Christmas to visit a close friend in Melbourne - highlight of the trip was having her photo taken in Ramsay Street, outside Mrs Mangel’s (sp?) house!

I was 14 weeks pregnant with my daughter, I felt her first flutters watching neighbours in the mornings I think it was then.

Another young mum at the time here. I remember thinking how loud and brash some of them were, especially Madge and her then husband (curly hair, can't remember his name). Think I watched until early 90s, through the Scott and Charlene era, Mrs Mangel, Des and Daphne..... Just gradually lost interest I think.

Another one who was a new mother when it started on weekday afternoons. I seem to remember there was shock, horror.... somebody who turned out to be a stripper!

It was a few weeks in when I discovered Neighbours by accident. My twin daughters had just started to learn High Board diving at the time, and I switched on the tv whilst I was cleaning our large Living Room whilst all my children were at school. So delighted to find a Soap which had 'diving' in it, I played the second showing to those children after school.
Of course, the diving finished rather tragically (I seem to remember) quite soon, but we became addicts.

Mind you, I am quietly laughing to myself as I watch it now - as Shane's diving abilities would not have got him anywhere near the national team let alone an Olympic medals.

I stopped watching for several years, but returned to it when i retired and was disappointed when it stopped, so am recording it now and once again, enjoying the sun, sand and silly story lines.

Oh dear. I went and watched the first episode which introduces the Ramsey and the Robinson families.

Des Clarke is getting married next day and Paul Robinson will be his best man. They are having a bucks party at Des’s house with Shane Ramsey and assorted mates. Meantime his fiancée is having second thoughts. Daphne is the stripper.

I’m reading on Wiki that Stefan Dennis originally auditioned for the role of Des before he was cast as Paul Robinson. Fortunate for him as he turned out to be such a long running character.

I also watched Neighbours when pregnant with my DD and like others when she was born she recognised the theme tune and it settled her.

I'd been in Australia at the beginning of the '80s so was a bit in love with the accent. Australia was still a bit out on a limb then playing second fiddle to the US, certainly as far as tv was concerned. It broke my day as a new mother, the early afternoon feed time, one of many. On the sofa with the baby thinking just maybe his first word might be "g'day" I also liked some of the Aussie expressions, "he's got a bluey" "on the arvo" "he shot through"I couldn't imagine watching it all over again it was of its time but I'm not ashamed to have latched on to it, many of us did

I used to snuggle up on the sofa with my baby daughter to watch it. Always sent her to sleep. She will be 40 this year.

I used to love it, but wouldn’t watch it all again now.

I will likely start watching when it has moved on a few years.
