Good morning Mick and all from Morecambe Bay where thankfully it’s not so hot. In fact I had the best night sleep I’ve had in weeks.
The dogs settled together quickly and we tired them out with a long walk in the woods. CDog was running ahead and running back but son’s dog trotted calmly by my side sniffing every blade of grass. The two dogs are so different. They are the same breed, but totally different. CDog is twice the size of SDog and far more energetic. CDog wants to play but SDog wants nothing to do with him. There is only 12 months between them.
I think my lurgy may have responded well to a decent night’s sleep which is a great relief. It’s not the week to be ill.

Good morning from a warm and sunny Torbay. The weather is ideal for our holidaymakers but like so many places, we need the rain.

Sadly, we have suffered suspicious fires locally, including one at Paignton railway station known to have been started by three boys and another in the picturesque village of Cockington. Everything is tinder dry.

Lichfield was a favourite place to visit when I lived at Haywood, monk08 especially its magnificent cathedral. I’ve attended several concerts there including some involving children from my school.

The Ford garage was unable to install the computer update on my car so it will have to go in again at some point in the future for which my service engineer has to seek permission from Ford HQ. At least I had a courtesy car for the day.

My DS and DGS3 are staying with my ex locally so they’re meeting us for breakfast today at The Babbacombe Inn which will be lovely. The pub overlooks the bay as it’s on the Downs.

Good morning. I think the usual cool start building to a pleasant warm afternoon is due again.
DH has just gone off to golf after delivering a cup of tea to my Sister in Law and myself. We will have an easy morning,. She wants to look at my craft work and painting. Hope to have time to do a small watercolour. She will leave mid afternoon to miss rush hour.

Good Morning everyone from the usual (of late) sunny and warm central south coast. It will be a shock to the system when it inevitably reverts to cooler, and maybe, even wet weather.

DH is out with his cycling group today and they are taking out a long standing member who now has dementia but will be carefully shepherded on a farewell ride to the sea. Only the people he still remembers are going so he should, hopefully, have a happy day. His wife has suggested this and the very kind and caring old friends are happy to oblige. He will not be going out with them again.

Our cleaners are due shortly and will do their magic for us. We always keep things tidy and organised but they clean through efficiently and speedily and are much appreciated. Two sisters who have been coming for the last 10 years.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Yesterday’s sunny start didn’t last long and it was cloudy and cool until late afternoon, when the sun came out again. Possibly the same today. DD2 FaceTimed from their holiday villa, it looks lovely but is fairly remote. The DGDs are enjoying the pool.
The gardener came yesterday and tidied the front garden. His son attacked the weeds growing among the paving bricks on the drive, they’re coming again on Friday to start in the back garden.

helterskelter despite the gardener’s best efforts, I’m also resigned to a very dead looking garden and to having to buy a lot of plants to replace those that have died. Hoping that some rain may salvage some of your garden.

Thinking of all those who are struggling for any reason and hoping that there’s some improvement for you soon.

Good morning from a cooler Black Country, where it will rise to around 24 deg by the afternoon, which isn't too bad.

DGD2 & 4 are coming over here on the bus today, so I am meeting them for lunch. Wonder who will pay . They are 17 and 15, though eldest is 18 next month, a week before A Level results! She came to 6th form college here and likes the Charity Shops, it will be good to spend some time with them.

MrJ has an appointment at the Hospital with the Nurse to check all is well after his treatment on his head.

Have a good day in Lichfield Monk I lived there for 20 years and DS still lives nearby. I think I really must pay a visit on the train soon.

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

Our cleaner is due at 9 am and then we are off out for lunch in Leamington Spa. We are meeting two of DH's friends from University and their wife's. We meet up 3 or 4 times a year and always have lots to talk about despite having an active WhatsApp group.

Many happy returns to GG13 and Gingster. I bumped into my GN twin at the theatre the other day.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a cooler day ahead.

New gardener came yesterday morning and did a good job of tidying my unruly greenery. He is coming again on Friday to see to the weeds and strim the edges.

This morning I have a pre-op appointment at the cataract clinic to see about having my second eye done. Hopefully won't have to wait too long for an appointment for surgery. DS-in-law will be taking me as he is having a break from work for a few weeks as he is between contracts.

When I get back I need to try and get an appointment at the vets for one of my cats who has been off her food and not her usual self, looking very sorry for herself and lethargic, even turning down her favourite treats.

Your post about your friend's funeral resonated with me, Usedtobeblonde. Those friendships that have been longstanding have such an impact on our lives, sometimes quietly. They aren't family therefore we choose to have them in our lives. When I think of my closest friends they're the people I've known for decades, through the best and worst times of our lives. Sending you an unmumsnetty hug. 💐

Yesterday's trip to the park was good fun. We're lucky to have a lovely park with a well maintained, enclosed play area. We did lots of running around. Who needs a personal trainer when a grandchild does the job? 😁

Not sure what today entails today. I think we'll have a play it by ear day.

I came away from my WI meeting a bit discombobulated
It was a talk from the St John’s ambulance about resuscitation and choking . Very important that we need to know how to do these things . It left me feeling a bit worried about having to do either of these procedures and where is my nearest defibrillator? Will I be able to get to it? Am I strong enough to do the Heimlich manoeuvre? I’m not normally a worrier but for some reason it did worry me
My sister-in-law was there also, and I am worried about her, she’s going through a bit of a health struggle at the moment .
My tooth is still hurting so all in all not a good evening .
I’ve woken up a bit brighter this morning. Just hope I never have to be in the middle of a medical emergency.
Bellasnana, are you having it hotter than normal or is that your usual summer temperatures in Malta? I must admit I would struggle

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where im Up before the alarm I set. Often happens that way doesn’t it? Alexa tells me it’ll reach 24°C again today. Lovely.

Well L’il Miss will be here in about an hour. I think I’ll make myself TiB before getting dressed. This evening 4 of us have been invited round to a friend’s house for drinks. I’m not drinking these days (trying to shift a few lbs) so will enjoy their company with a soft drink.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The usual cool grey start in South Yorkshire. It looks very much as if we shall have rain at the weekend.

A very full on afternoon with GS yesterday as we hauled out the old mower to cut the no man’s land of grass, knapweed and brambles at the back of the garden wall, and cut the top and sides of the long pyracantha hedge - horrible job. We filled the green bin. Fortunately it’s being emptied today, as we have another hedge to tackle soon. We cooked a nice dinner and then settled down to watch a film.

The plan today is that we should make a start on painting the fence. He’s very keen. Me, not so much! The odds are we wouldn’t get it finished before he has to go home so I would be left to finish it on my own.

Good morning from N Surrey. All doors and windows open to let the cooler air through. When I open the south facing kitchen patio doors first thing the pots of rosemary, thyme and newly bought curry plant smell wonderful. Almost like being on holiday somewhere Mediterranean.

Bellasnana is that what you can smell? Do you open all doors and windows? How do you keep cool in 44 deg?

I have resigned myself to a pretty dead garden. The strength of the constant sun and the hosepipe ban have killed off the grass and plants in the ground. Even the lavenders are struggling. The flower heads are abundant but completely dry.

Plants in pots are surviving. Tender ones moved to a shady area.

Nothing much on the cards today. But I do have a telephone call with a good friend of many many years to catch up on her news.

Good morning from s somerset, another dry day

My main task yesterday was to fill 4 huge pots with various composts, I used 10 bags in all and the composts were nice and dry so it was an easy job. I am prepped now for the 4 new replacement blueberry plants that are arriving this week. I will need to start spraying rainwater into the containers, to carefully wet but not soak the soil. I need to take my time as the composts are so dry

I made another toile yesterday, a pattern by the Avid Seamstress, I am giving up on her patterns, too many alterations are needed, starting with the front neck being uncomfortable. Another garment for the charity bag. I am gradually sifting out the designers I don`t like

*Bellas*, awful temperatures for you to cope with, I could not do it, 37 has been my hottest so far. My DD says that her local farmer friends are already having to feed hay to cattle. She has had 200 bales taken off her field and has donated them for free to her farmer friend. He is really struggling financially and now the heat on top of being robbed of vital equipment last year

Today, I am pottering, went to the allotment last night so it does not need visiting today. I have a few fabrics to pre-wash but I don`t want to subject them to intense uv today, I will wait for a cloudy cooler day as I don`t want any colours to fade

Tidying might be on the cards and I haven`t used a duster for quite some time and right now I have French doors open and there is a faint smell of smoke, I hope no-one has been foolish enough to have lit a bonfire

Good morning from a bright Bristol.
I have only just woken up; I must have been very tired.
Yesterday was more or less my usual pedestrian sort of day. I managed some shopping in town, etc. curiously, I metro fewer than three acquaintances in the bus coming home from town!
I read a lot, planted some petunias to replace the sweet pea which was mildewed and no longer flowering.
DS picked me up to dine with the family at it was SiL’s birthday. We had quite a nice dinner at a horrifically expensive local pizza place. I found it hard to follow the conversation because of the noise. I was driven home after cake made by Iris. She’s become a very good little baker.
Today, we have our monthly meeting with Teflon, to report the lack of progress in any repair. The painting has ground to a halt and is being done extremely badly in places.

Good morning from Malta where we have another day with a high of 41° (real feel 44°C) and a low of 30°C.

So far I have been lucky not to have a power cut, but several parts of the island have suffered multiple cuts and for over 20 hours in some cases.

I went to the hairdresser yesterday which is less than a minute’s walk away, after which I went to the corner shop for milk and realised I wouldn’t be able to make it to the post office. It’s only a fifteen minute walk, but in 44°C, it is hard to breathe so I gave it a miss.

hollysteers I was interested to hear you had spent such happy times in Sóller. It really is beautiful and I wish we had discovered it sooner. Bittersweet memories for you though when thinking of your DH.💐

I have felt worn out after my few days away but intend to get back on my crosstrainer today.
