Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 13°C.

A bad night pairnwise, I woke myself up, shouting out

Nothing much to report here. Yesterday, I stayed in bed until nearly lunchtime, I felt so awful.
My only plan today is to run to the ironmonger for a gasket for the bath plug and respond to a PM
I had filled the bath up, expecting to ease my pain and watched my beautiful, rose scented, bubble bath drain away.
The previous bath user stated, that he had experienced no problem.
Obviously, he must have damaged the plug, but nothing is ever his fault!!!

Good morning from a cool Suffolk where I think there may have been a fine and very short loved drizzle in the night. DH and I deliberated whether or not to put a cover on the garden sofa in the back yard and decided not to. I thought that doing so might encourage any rain to stay away!

I’ll do another picking of the blackberries later as they are ripening fast now,huge and juicy and I’ll freeze them for puddings later in the year. It seems unseasonable to eat the now when there are so many delicious summer fruits available.

Apart from that and the usual dog walk,a quiet restful day beckons. I hope all have a day which is pleasurable.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire. Late this morning. I got up twice in the night, but slept well. The sun is out. I’m not sure whether we had rain or not last night - there’s no sign of it. I’ll have to take Melanie’s word for it😁! It’s breezy though.

I had a day of “fettling” yesterday so the house looks cleaner for the moment. Not sure what is on the agenda today. A take it as it comes day.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It has rained in the night!
I slept much better than usual.
Today Quaker meeting at an old friend s house. She really is an old friend as she is 100.
This afternoon/evening I've invited the other DGP over with our DGC before they are taken home tomorrow.
DD and DSiL are wild camping in the far N W somewhere.

My DFs from here have arrived in NZ and will be staying with my DS and his family for a couple of nights. He tells me it's Baltic there but I am a more than a bit envious.

Extremes of weather are to be expected for the foreseeable future. I so hope Europe cools soon. 🙏

Good morning from warm Carlisle where it is likely to be a showery day. I don't know how much good it's doing as the showers are quite brief and light. Still, saves me from the boring watering. The downside is that the snails have thought it fine to come out to play, one biggie has already met its maker after being spotted by Mrs Bigfoot....

I have just come back from a walk in the park, where, apparently, swan wars have been going on. The cob of one family has chased out the family at the other end of the Pond and the latter has been wandering from the park out on to the nearby roads. I think they've may have been removed to a safer haven though there are strict rules about interfering with wildlife so I don't know who might have been responsible for that. The swans have been having a hard time this season as they've also been chased about by yobs and killed by abandoned fishing tackle.

Today, after a second breakfast, I hope to garden though I don't know if the ground will be soft enough for digging holes in. I have an array of plants waiting to go in. Otherwise, I shall try to catch up on my reading backlog. In spite of my vow not to buy any more books this year, one arrived yesterday...ordered by me!

It’ll be a quieter day for me today, just pottering about the house and garden I expect. There’s lots to keep me busy so that’s fine with me. I’m looking forward to our regular Sunday catch up call with DS first thing though

Good Morning from Durham. There’s been a shower, but it was very brief. My blueberries are awful this year, so I’ve been drinking my tea, watching but not begrudging the blackbirds taking them. Hectic day yesterday with DD2 and family here. I took DGS2 and his dog for a walk and returned to find both his parents fast asleep ! I was exhausted after they’d gone, but I kept Little Dog overnight, only to be woken very early by a house alarm going off - I think they must be away, as it was before 6am and just went on and on.
I’ve no plans for today, other than domestic jobs and walking said dog, but I might keep him overnight again and take him home tomorrow.

I may pop into Oxford later to return a White Stuff dress. Otherwise a quiet day. I may make a strawberry and raspberry crumble with cream for pudding - I always make a pudding on Sunday as it’s a Feast Day!

Good morning from cool and cloudy South Lanarkshire.

We three Grans set off yesterday morning for our walk around Glasgow’s Merchant City in the rain but by midday we were casting off our rain jackets and squinting in the warm sunshine. We are following city centre walks set out in a book which describes the many and varied buildings, their architectural features as well as their original purpose. So interesting and enjoyable.

Today I’ll go to Mass then have a quietish day, there’s a pile of ironing which would frighten an army, I may try to reduce it slightly.

Woken early by gentle rain, now finished without really having any impact; as I am on watering duty for two neighbours for the next ten days I was hoping for more but can see much lugging of watering cans ahead of me as the sun is shining and another round of very hot weather is predicted.

Anticipating a visit from a great niece and her toddler son so have been rescuing various boxes of cars etc from the garage. Will have to check the cars for swallowable bits - DS once proudly announced that he had swallowed a tyre from a dustbin lorry, and as we never found it I expect he did. It’s a long time since I had a not yet two year old in the house and it’s probably a death trap so must inspect carefully.

Morning, a later one from S Hants, not one drop of badly needed wet stuff.
Hurrah for grandchildren sleeping over, I miss those days, ours are so much older now it’s a very rare event.
MrJ enjoyed golf yesterday but didn’t get placed, he did win a bottle of JD in the raffle.
Washing machine is going, wind is getting up so it will dry.

Good morning from the east coast and another lovely day for us with no rain.

Yesterday we went to mums and trimmed her big front hedge. She’ll be pleased with that when she returns from her holiday home. DH prefers to do it when she isn’t there she does tend to nag a bit. It will keep the gypsies away. They keep coming asking to cut her front hedge and giving her a price. She tells them we do it for her so we thought we’d better get on with it.

Today we have DD and the DGDs coming over and maybe DSIL. We don’t see a lot of them when he’s home we like to leave them to it but they know where we are.
We have a paddling pool to put up ready for a hot week with DGS. I said to DH I’ll put in on the most dead part of the lawn so it doesn’t kill the grass. He said take your pick put it where you like the whole lawn is nearly gone. We are only using the hose on the veg and the pots.

Good morning and it’s cool and overcast with forecast for a little rain here in Essex. How lovely!

I’m just back from an unexpected trip to Tesco with my trusty trolly. I had an Ocado delivery booked for between 7 and 8 but when I looked it said for the 2nd August 😳. I had booked the wrong date initially but had edited it and changed it to today. Obviously it didn’t happen.
We have most/all of the family coming for a buffet lunch, so off I went.
I did try to contact ds1 but he was probably running along the seafront. He’ll be mortified when he knows I’ve had to walk and shop. As my other son always says ‘just crack on and do it mum’. 🤣.

Yesterday’s lunch with my 3 girls was lovely. The newish restaurant lived up to its rave reviews. The food was amazing and plentiful. I wonder if you’ve been GG and Sar. Highly recommended .,We laughed until we cried over past outings and DGD 1 loved recalling trips to the seaside house. DGD6 ate her lunch too which was lovely to see.

Gs picked up his car at 2 this morning and we didn’t hear a sound. He’s back from his hols and had left his car on our drive..

Good Morning - just. How lovely you may have some rain at last. I’m just coming up for air, literally, and to say a big thank you to all who have expressed concern regarding the terrible fires, almost everywhere in France. Spain, Greece, Turkey are badly affected.

Yesterday and the day before saw two fires successfully contained not far from us. With eternal blue skies everyone here in 40 degree plus temperatures scans the horizon almost constantly for any grey wisp of smoke. I’m very grateful that, if all else fails, we’re 2 blocks from the sea.

But, for 24 hours now, the sun has been put out by grey and stinky fumes in the smoke from the Gironde fires. In spite of a strong Tramontane wind today, we’ve been advised to stay indoors to avoid the particles swirling around us. The smell of rubber and plastic is horrible. We are 400kms as the crow flies from the Atlantic coast and the area of the flames (then Spain) and today our brigade of firemen report that in the Gironde alone 42,000 hectares/104,000 acres of land is already destroyed and the blaze is still out of control. The biggest French forest fire ever. Nearly a quarter of a million people have been displaced/evacuated. The resilience of people is astonishing, and in these temperatures…..but the courage of the firemen beggars belief!

How sad it and frightening actually to read about the terrible fires in Europe, if summers are to be like this all the time in the future I dread to think what will happen.
Weather changes are happening so fast and people are stilll blind to it, heads in the sand.
I hope you and your family are all well and in spite of the current situation enjoying you lovely life.
