How many pair of twins have you met?

One of my daughter's friends had, at one point, five boys 3 and under; twins, a single and twins again!

In Finland on holiday years ago I met little blonde twins - and they are much more common there.

Also, at a playgroup, I once saw two-year-old triplets... very confusing to see three identical little girls running around!

I’ve hardly ever known any, but a colleague’s daughter’s first pregnancy was twins, and there was an identical set at my senior school, but very sadly one of them died after just a few years.

At grammar school' I was very pally with a twin girl. her twin also went to the same school but apart from their colouring they wer't alike. One was taller and a bit more bigger built.
The smaller one attracted quite a lot of boyish attention but they were both realy nice girls.
There was also a set of boy and girl twins at school who obviouslyhad seperate friends.
My daughter attended playgroup in the 70s and there was a set of twins there who were like peas in a pod. lovely girls.
Later I worked with a twin and met her sister - they looked identical and had same hairstyle but one had blue eyes and the other had brown. Don't know if they had the same traits but although they lived seperately they seemed to get on really well together .
I have never come across 2 male twins at any time in my life.

I have twin GC , a boy and a girl . They are both delightful. When they were tiny the boy depended heavily on his outgoing sister but now at 16 the girl is the less confident one. They remain very close still and support each other. They have joint friends and go round in a group that they have known since they were little.

My father had a twin sister and my MiL was also a non-identical twin, so no real surprise when my fourth pregnancy resulted in twin girls - but these were identical which does not have any family connection.

Following their birth, I was one of founders of what back then in the 1970's was called the Twins Clubs Association (now The Twins Trust).
Through that I met hundreds of sets of twins and triplets, etc.

One of the funniest comments I heard was when a friend with a boy/girl twins in a pram, having said that is what they were, was then asked if they were identical!!!! She pointed out that there were some quite obvious differences.

Twins are very interesting and very important to researchers because of the genetic background.

I only knew one pair of twins at pony club but I taught twins called Victoria and Albert Hall. 😂

😂😂😂 Although I wonder what they felt about their names because it must have become so annoying seeing people's reactions all the time. It's a brilliant joke but not for them I imagine, only getting free of the joke once they went their separate ways.

I have had the honour of delivering 2 sets of twins!

There are often sweet videos on youtube of twins talking to each other in their cot when quite tiny.
They must be such fun to have apart from hard work.

I used to go to a twins club. So loads. Make of that what you will.

2 sets of ladies both of whom contracted Ca Bronchus - only light smokers in their youth. I set has subsequently dies one year after another in the early 70s.

2 further non identical sets are fine as far as I recall (one of the sets are my first cousins)

No twins in my family but I was at university with two lots of identical twin brothers, all doing the same degree course. Both lots dressed almost identically. They didn't get the same class of degree so I guess they had some differences.

I have met lots. My grandmother had twins as did my daughter and my cousin. In my class at junior school there were identical twin girls and a pair of non identical. In my secondary school class there were twin girls. My daughter’s neighbour has twins whom I have met and at her secondary school my granddaughter had friends who were twins. My niece married a twin so I met them but the greatest number of twins was when I used to accompany my daughter and her twins to a local twins’ club where there were triplets as well. It was chaotic but great fun.

I find twins fascinating and in my experience there seem to be many more same sex twins than boy/ girl ones like my grandchildren. I suppose that is inevitable as many are identical.It must be lovely to be a twin or have twins. I am envious!

Mum was a twin. They had a lovely relationship with each other but very different personalities. When Mum died her twin knew without being told and wouldn’t speak for several days.

I watched several programmes about twins, separated at birth, and it was amazing to see how they had lived almost parallel lives, from the small, mundane things, to much bigger events, careers...
Almost magical.

In 1966 there were 8 sets of twins in our little village school - that meant that one in seven pupils were a twin!

It made the papers and there is a Getty image of them.

Some of them are still around locally.

One branch of my family had lots of twins; but it missed me out!

I went to school with twins, I was friends with them both. They weren't identical, there was certainly a dominant one, I remember her pushing her sister in a ditch. They were part of a large Irish family, they had older siblings also twins a boy and a girl. Both my children had twin friends at school, one set very identical.

Our married unidentical twin daughters for starters, Noelle & Natalia.

My father and uncle were twins as well.

As we are in the Madrid Capital 32 years, we have not come across many twins here recently.

I only remember one pair of identical twins when I was a child, and although fascinated by them, I found them a little freaky, like two halves of one person, but when I got to know them they weren’t nearly as identical as I had first thought and I had no trouble telling them apart.

When I was first married there was a lady in the butchers I used to use who had three sets of triplets! She was something of a local celebrity, goodness how she managed a job and nine children. She was always very jolly.

Identical males fairly frequently being my sons. May have met many twins over the years but never known if not identical.

Is anybody married to one of identical twins?
My mind strays to all sorts of places at the thought.

I think there are a lot more twins nowadays with better health care in early pregnancy. Also IVF. My DD had two eggs implanted and both took so she has twins, a boy and girl.
My DS had twins although in those days, no scans etc., they thought she was rather large but only having one. I remember my DBIL phoning and saying “It’s a girl…..and a boy”. We had to rush out and buy an extra carry cot etc.

Regarding the children of identical twins, they are actually more of half siblings than cousins.
Indeed, whereas it is permitted in UK law for cousins to marry, they may not if they are cousins from identical twin parents.
