Good Morning everyone from the sunny central south coast. We are set for a burst of extra heat today - unlucky us. Still only a vague promise of "maybe a few isolated light showers" later this week.
We do not have a hosepipe ban here (Portsmouth Water) but are still being careful not to waste water.

Yesterday, we enjoyed a lovely breakfast meet with DD and SiL (well he will be in December after 29 years together!) before they got the train home. They had enjoyed their party with an old local village friend on Saturday night.

Later, I had a long chat with DS who is finding the restriction of the special boot he has to wear to heal his torn achilles tendon, difficult.. In bed he has a special splint to wear. This whole system may be required for another 8 weeks so it is daunting and will be followed by a prolonged period of recovering strength and mobility. That is all depending on the tendon knitting back together.

Both he and DD want me to consider wearing a fall alarm as I am still quite wobbly and apprehensive about falling when DH is out on his cycle rides. I have promised to investigate. We have no close friends or any relations to call on for help here since DD and family moved away 2 years ago.

Laundry day and investigations with Age UK on the agenda for me.

Kind thoughts to everyone and especially those with struggles or worries of any sort. May today bring some relief and comfort.

Good morning from a sunny and warm S E Essex.

I am off to the gym first thing, then I need to go into the City, considering the amount of major roadworks it will be an and venture and a much longer journey than usual.

This afternoon I shall be in the garden.

Rosesandlilac wishing you well for tomorrow, I hope all goes as well as possible 🌹🪻

Good morning from Sunny Stockport.

Yesterday morning I went to the local park with a friend who has just bought a mobility scooter, she is quite nervous about it and needs practice and reassurance but she was fine.
We picked up takeaway coffees from the little cafe and went back to sit in the walled garden to drink them.
It got very hot so after finishing them we made our way home.
I then had a sandwich and got ready to go to my GD’s new home for a Sunday dinner.
It is a fairly new house and has a kitchen diner across the back of the house, we sat in there on the new, very comfy dining chairs as they have no furniture in the living room, it will be at least another two weeks.
The dinner was excellent as H is an excellent cook, he does most of the cooking and is rather OCD about cleaning and tidying so it was all very organised, I couldn’t have company eat in my kitchen as I am a messy cook.
We ate quite early, 6ish, and I didn’t stay long after the meal as by then I was very tired. I did sleep quite well.

Sincerest thought to R&L for tomorrow, you may be gone to hospital before I post tomorrow.
The same good wishes go to all of you, unwell or in a caring role.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning all and it’s going to be another hot one. 🥵.
Yesterday we had a nice cool breeze and I was able to cut down some of my foxglove ‘fairy forest’, as DGD called it. The wind had bent them but they are strong and some of the stems were very hard to cut. I filled the bin which will be taken away this morning. Still another lot to do.

Today I’m meeting my friend for lunch ,as my treat , as she has given me lifts and come out of her way for me. I will do this for each of my friends who are such a help to me. My way of thanking them and showing appreciation.

I’m trying persuade Dh to have a small type of mobility scooter so that I can get him out and about. He’s having none of it.🙄. There are so many places we could go with the help of our friendly cabbie.

Rosesandlilac we’ll all be thinking if you tomorrow .🙏.

What a lot of baking GB. The family will be delighted.

Take care all 🌺

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Thank you for all the good wishes yesterday. I had a lovely day the food was good and watching the three AC children together was great, they meet very rarely DD1 living so far up North.
Best wishes for tomorrow R&L

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. A hot day is forecast for us today - 33 degrees - oh joy! I may go for a walk after breakfast, then will probably stay inside for the rest of the day. Plenty to occupy me inside if I can motivate myself. Yesterday I vacuumed throughout, washed bedclothes and towels and got the sheets dry outside. I still tumble dried the towels because I like them to be soft.
DD2 called in on her way home from a busy weekend in Suffolk.
They’re all back to work today.

rosesandlilac I hope your DH follows the instructions you are leaving him! I hope all goes well tomorrow and that you will make a speedy and full recovery.

grandmabatty you had a very productive day’s cooking yesterday! As it’s still quite hot here, just the idea of baking cakes etc makes me feel hot! I don’t bake cakes any more, neither daughter eats many cakes, and although I’d eat them, I really shouldn’t!

llfl I hope you are pleased with your ceramic cat!

Thinking of all who are struggling with life’s challenges and hoping that life gets easier for you today.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Sar53 Mon 03-Aug-26 07:19:19

Roses we are all with you in spirit tomorrow, my very best wishes xx

Good morning all from a brightening North Leicestershire. The forecast is 31.

To day our 'baby' is 39. We will pop over the forest to see her this afternoon but this morning DH is off to the gym and I have a hair appointment and need to buy a pepper!!

The decorators is coming later to quote for doing the outside next spring. All contributions gratefully received!! grin

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from Lancashire and a belated haapy birthday for yesterday, Lulu. 🎂

Hope all goes well tomorrow, RosesandLilac. I expect time might drag today, but try to relax if you can.

Yesterday morning we went to church and then DD met up with a friend for lunch before they both came back to our's to natter in the conservatory.

It tried and failed to rain yesterday teatime. A good shower would freshen the air up.

Not sure what our plans are for today. DD is meeting a friend in Manchester at teatime and then travelling back home to Birmingham so we have to factor in making sure her bag is packed and in the boot of the car. It's been lovely having her home and I'll miss her but look forward to when we can get together again.

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Jaxjacky Mon 03-Aug-26 07:09:23

Roses, my thoughts will be with you tomorrow x
Morning from a bright S Hants, 30 due later.
Voluntary phone day, I must also arrange a get together with some good friends not seen for a while.
Yesterday was quiet but we sorted out playing airport taxi next week for my daughter and grandchildren.
Have a decent day all.

Ashcombe Mon 03-Aug-26 07:06:40

Good morning from Torbay where it’s going to be sunny all day but no hotter than 23 degrees which is bearable.

Move It or Lose It Class at lunchtime then a rehearsal again tonight. DH, as a member of Toads, has permission to watch tonight’s rehearsal as he will be in France for the run of performances.

Stay cool, if you can, everyone! 🦩🥰😎💐🦩

Marzipan22 Mon 03-Aug-26 07:05:11

Good morning from Cornwall where a luscious cool breeze is wafting across my bed. I'll venture out to my swing seat in a moment. I spent yesterday pottering indoors away from the heat then spent two lovely evening hours on my patio sewing a denim and waistcoat with a blue lace trim which I've concocted from three other garments. I'm going to sew it all by hand because I enjoy that and can listen to Borrowbox at the same time.

My nephews have gone home but not before they came and filled my tiny flat. The 11-year-old loved my doll's house with its Lego furniture and made some creations for it. His three-year-old brother played with my basket of knitted fruit and veg. I wish they all lived nearer. They would love to, but finding work for them here would be difficult.

Today I'm packing up books for a charity to collect and will saunter over to Wetherspoons at some point for brunch.

BlueSapphire Mon 03-Aug-26 07:02:26

It's forecast to reach 31°C here in Northampton today...

Grandmabatty Mon 03-Aug-26 07:01:41

Roses best of luck tomorrow

Good morning everyone from yet another bright, sunny 🌞 and hot Northampton day... Shall go to yoga first thing and then take it easy the rest of the day. Perhaps start reading the translation of the Odyssey I bought last week.

Did very little yesterday; sat in the garden for a couple of hours in the afternoon with the cats who were equally lazy, just lying in the shade of the bushes.

I may or may not clean the bathrooms when I get back from yoga.....

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Melanie61 Mon 03-Aug-26 06:58:55

Roses, all the very best for tomorrowflowers

Astitchintime Mon 03-Aug-26 06:55:27

Good morning from a misty NE Mids. It is a friends birthday later this week and I won’t risk posting the card so I will be dropping that in later but otherwise nothing in particular planned for what promises to be a hot day again.
Have a good day one and all!

RosesandLilac Mon 03-Aug-26 06:54:05

Good morning, there’s an autumnal tang to the air this morning, bright sunshine and yet another hot day forecast.
I enjoyed a coffee with a friend yesterday, catching up on all her news. I took her some courgettes, they’re a bit late fruiting here, as are my beans.
I gave the living/dining room a good clean and tidy, that’s it for now, my cleaner will start next week. Laundry today and I’m ready for tomorrow I think. Written instructions for DH taped to the kitchen cupboard and fingers crossed he follows them!
I need to collect my medication from the surgery today, I will have a quiet wander around the village while I’m out.

A huge thank you to you all for all the incredible support you’ve given me over the last 6 months, you truly are an amazing group of individuals. You have no idea how grateful I am xxx

karmalady Mon 03-Aug-26 06:48:38

Good morning from sunny s somerset, it is going to be very hot today and all my shades are up

The margo pinafore was not my cup of tea and neither was the fabric, a good fabric bought when Croft mill was sending handwritten lists of remnants, I lived in the lake district then. Thankfully I did not use my patterned linen. I finished the dress and put it straight on the `give-away` pile. A pattern and designer, I will never use again. It will always be on a pdf but no paper copies will remain, all binned and no dithering

I did have a relaxing day until evening when I went to my allotment, I did some chop and drop to get rid of plants that have given up because of the heat and cleared lots of leaves from the eleven large and ripening winter squash and brought my many large beetroot home to store for winter. It seems as though the seasons are ahead of themselves right now

Today I am in throes of making sourdough with the aim of an overnight proofing, to bake tomorrow morning. Craft group session later today

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 03-Aug-26 06:34:33

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. The temperature is forecast to be 31 degrees!

I didn’t do much yesterday apart from go to church.

I will collect my ceramic cat today. If it’s dreadful it will go in the garden. On the way home I will do a Waitrose shop. Our cleaner should be here this morning. OH will play croquet with the U3A after lunch and then see his bees.

Have a good day everyone. I’m specially thinking of R&L:

Greyduster Mon 03-Aug-26 06:33:51

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a grey, cool South Yorkshire. We shall have a high of 27 today.

Yesterday I met DD and her menfolk for breakfast at a one of their local eateries before they went up to the Dales for a few days. Having waved them off, I took the opportunity to look around the industrial hamlet that the cafe is attached to; a collection of buildings where the first crucible steel was made and fashioned into tools that were used all over the world. It was fascinating. The cottage industry that started our steel industry here in Sheffield. They sometimes have living history days so I shall look forward to going again.

I came home and started my jam, which I shall finish today. And plums are still raining down😱!

Have the best day you can, folks.

grandMattie Mon 03-Aug-26 06:33:43

Melisa, the stuff sold here is revolting, imho. But when I ate “real” Turkish delight, or “ loukum” as they call it, it’s a completely different thing. Delicious!

Melanie61 Mon 03-Aug-26 06:31:29

Good morning from Sheffield
We had such a great day at Sherwood Forest yesterday. It’s so good and all free.
Today I’m meeting up with a colleague I used to work with. We will have lunch in the Crucible cafe, where the snooker is held every year.
Then, as I have had little sleep, again, resting this afternoon.
Take care everyone flowers

Gelisa Mon 03-Aug-26 06:15:17

Good morning from a cloudy Morecambe Bay. It’s set to reach the mid 20’s later.
SDog went home yesterday. It feels strange not having him around. CDog must be missing him having been restless all night and finally sleeping downstairs- I assume that’s where he is. He’ll go out with the dog walker later. I have a busy week planned with appointments but today is rest and recovery. I kept today free in case SDog was still here.
DS returned from Turkey armed with Turkish Delight for me. No one can understand why I like ‘the stuff’.
Take care🌸
