Yesterday my daughter and daughter-in-law were busy grumbling about how slow their first house purchase is taking and wishing it would speed up as they signed their contract 5 weeks ago.

Today my sweet DiL, who’s carry DD baby went into spontaneous labour and after waters broke and baby was upside down with umbilical cord separating, she had an emergency C section and then at 13:00 baby Henry was born at 24.9 weeks, weighing 1lb 6oz.

We are all hoping for a good outcome in the end, please pray to whatever God or spiritual being or keep your fingers crossed that baby Henry comes through this.

DD and DiL in shock and baby about to be transferred to a Neonatal Unit in a hospital nearly 40 miles away. This is their first baby and first try at IVF. He’s so tiny (I couldn’t see him but DD sent photos) 😢

Baby Henry is a trooper but huge thanks are due to the wonderful staff at GOSH who are loooking after him with skill and dedication as well as all the other babies and children in their care.

Everyday I thank GOSH for their wonderful care and compassion for our ‘Enery and all of those sick babies and children they treat every day.

My dearest goddaughter trained there and then worked on one of their children’s cancer wards for years. She’s been an amazing support to us all, though working elsewhere now. flowers

Update

It’s the girls 2nd Wedding Anniversary today and they are out of GOSH for an hour to have pancakes.

Henry is stable today, has both eyes open and lively. DDiL held him again yesterday and he is back having her precious milk again.

Next hurdle, possibly Friday, is to close the heart together. I forgot the technical term, but it normally closes prior to birth and having it remain open is having a negative impact on his stats.

So another operation.

The care this little one continues to get, along with both mummies, from the wonderful team at GOSH continues on and I know he is being given the very best chance of surviving and one day coming home 🙏🩵

Thanks to you all for your prayers, kind thoughts and positive words, it’s so lovely to know little Henry is in your hearts and thoughts.

🙏🩵🩵🩵

How are you cossy? Emotional stress is so exhausting, are you coping OK?

Thanks for the updates. I’ll watch out for Friday update.

Moth62 Wed 02-Sept-26 11:12:19

I was only just thinking of him this morning and wondering how he was getting on. Lovely news that he’s fighting on. ❤️

Wishing Henry an excellent outcome from his procedure on Friday flowers.

Greyduster Wed 02-Sept-26 12:43:35

I was thinking about Henry yesterday when I was sent a photo of our four year old very preemie (weighed the same as a bag of sugar!!) striding purposefully toward the sea on a recent Cornish holiday. That will be Henry, Cossy; I’d put money on it! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

wendyann23 Wed 02-Sept-26 15:14:16

Hope the girls enjoyed their pancakes on their wedding anniversary. Just thinking of you all and wishing you well. Hope little Henry’s procedure goes to plan on Friday. He is a little fighter.

I remember our little prem after she had had a blood transfusion ( first of many) - she just became so much more active, moving all the time. I reckon young Henry will be the same after his heart op. She also had the problem with her heart but everything is good now. 🤞 💐

Usedtobeblonde Thu 03-Sept-26 09:49:32

I shall keep Henry and his doting family in my thoughts as his operation looms.
It is such a tense time for you all.
An army of Grans will be with you all.

Great News

After a heart scan late yesterday, doctors have decided the PDA is closing on its own and no procedure will be done tomorrow.

His skin is now much the same colour of a full term baby and he now weights 2lb & 3oz.

Cannot wait to see him again on Saturday.

Enjoy your day and thank you for all your best wishes and inspiring stories and memories 🩵
