What a difference a day makes 😢😢

Yesterday my daughter and daughter-in-law were busy grumbling about how slow their first house purchase is taking and wishing it would speed up as they signed their contract 5 weeks ago.

Today my sweet DiL, who’s carry DD baby went into spontaneous labour and after waters broke and baby was upside down with umbilical cord separating, she had an emergency C section and then at 13:00 baby Henry was born at 24.9 weeks, weighing 1lb 6oz.

We are all hoping for a good outcome in the end, please pray to whatever God or spiritual being or keep your fingers crossed that baby Henry comes through this.

DD and DiL in shock and baby about to be transferred to a Neonatal Unit in a hospital nearly 40 miles away. This is their first baby and first try at IVF. He’s so tiny (I couldn’t see him but DD sent photos) 😢

So pleased he’s settled well and the girls are happy. You must be relieved!

Thanks for letting us know

Positive news for Henry 😊

Hopefully the ward sister was just having an off day and you won't encounter her unpleasant behaviour again 🤞🏻

Good to hear that Henry is making progress, after the awful time you have all had. Best wishes for his future!

Usedtobeblonde Fri 11-Sept-26 12:10:24

Thankfully the news about Henry is more positive every day but having been following the news about him from day one it is hard to imagine babies sicker than him.
My heart goes out to their families.

Lovely to hear that he’s thriving and taking his mum’s milk, that will make him strong and build his immunity. ♥️

It's so lovely to hear that Henry is taking milk. I donated milk to my local hospital and I am so pleased to hear that this still happens.

That's a lovely update Cossy. I'm sure it's helped you knowing DD and DIL are happy again. It was such a trauma bringing him back to the Homerton, the stress was unbearable. Keep going Henry, you'll get there!

Update

Sorry I’ve not updated before.

Baby Henry is still in Homerton NICU, the girls are remaining very positive, if not a bit frustrated.

Henry has lost weight, is no further forward with anything. Morphine was totally removed on Saturday, as a result after the girls had left to come home, he was so agitated he managed to pull out his breathing tube.

This has set him back, he is back on morphine, still on a ventilator, sometimes taking a breath on his own, but many letting the ventilator do all the work.

Mum’s don’t seem to know if he’s had any X rays to check lungs are drying out still, or whether Homerton are going to do brain scan or heart scans.

They have met some nice friendly nurses and a really nice doctor, who today had a consultation with GOSH about Henry.

Tbh, it’s a bit of a nightmare and I’m so anxious. Henry was physically sick last night, so no milk now for 24 hours and he may have to have some extremely high fat formula milk, as he’s just not growing atm.

Let’s all hope it’s a rather long blip and that things will improve so I have some lovely positive news next update.

In our household we also now have our youngest DS being fast/tracked with some potential internal bleeding issues, very low BP and extreme fatigue.
