I cant decide whether it is totally me, or just the luck of the draw! (Or maybe half and half!) When you are committed to something, that you could not , or should not cancel, you then see something else that you would like to do on the same day. Or at last there is something worth watching on tv and the only other interesting programme for you is on at the same time!

After a day of achieving very little, and having plenty of food in the fridge but not in the least interested in any of it, I decided that I would at least go out on the yellow peril and if I saw something that appealed on the menu, I might treat myself as it has been quite some time since I have been out to anywhere. I went up and down the High St and one or two other places , and saw not one thing that I fancied, so came home and had something from the fridge! Couldnt be bothered to go further afield, and no inspiration arrived. Ah well thats the way it goes!

Or your social calendar is usually pretty empty, then you get two invitations for the same day!

I find it never rains but it pours. DS +/- others, says he will visit the day we had planned to go to a really good concert, if it wasn't for the fact that we had just booked to go on a special visit to a nearby historic house that is rarely open.

I have sometimes been asked out for lunch 3 times in a week and then nothing for ages.
I was also looking forward very much to a theatre visit and woke up with painful cystitis on the day.

Ha, yes! My ds was coming up to visit from London. He had never been to a local music venue here so I booked us tickets for a concert one evening, which I thought he’d enjoy. S*ds law, he had to cancel his visit at short notice so I was left with a spare ticket!

Luckily, my dd managed to find a babysittter and was able to come with me but I confess I did momentarily think, ‘you try and do a nice things and it never works!’

The one immovable item on my calendar is the art group I go to on Wednesdays. You won't be surprised to hear that almost all unexpected invitations I receive are for Wednesdays!

It's uncanny isn't it.
