If chocolate disappeared off the face of the world, I doubt I would notice. It is not the chocolate per se, but the sugar it comes with, even in plain chocolate.
I do not have a sweet tooth. Starters and no desserts is my pattern of eating. I eat cheese where other people eat biscuits, cakes, sweets, chocolate, ice cream.
However I am also mildly lactic intolerant. Fresh milk, yogurt, cottage and cream cheese are all off the menu. So I am dependent on hard cheese for my daily dose of calcium. I eat other sources of calcium with enthusiasm: brassicas and the like, but it is hard cheese that does the heavy lifting.
Well, that's my justification. I think I could do with a little bit of cheese.
