Filtered milk

We don’t take milk in tea or coffee so I buy filtered milk. I do get all the good bacteria in my yogurt on my Weetabix though.
We did used to get ours out of the bulk tank so very, very fresh and very creamy.

Does it last longer once it's been opened?

I only have milk in tea, another hater thanks to warm school milk!

I bought a filtered milk on around the 20th of August, it’s sitting in our fridge at home until we return from our holiday on the 10th September!

We buy it before we go on holiday so we have milk in for a cuppa on our return!

I've never liked milk and hated having to drink school milk. I use it in tea and coffee etc. but must have sugar in it if I put it on cereal.

Having said that, when I was a child some 65 years ago, we camped on a farm and my job in the morning was to collect unpasteurised milk, fresh from the cow, from the farmer. It was delicious and I've never forgotten how much better it was.

I used to use Cravendale because it's longer lasting, but I tried some Arla Lacto free milk, it tastes the same as 'normal' milk. I have actually had an opened carton in the fridge for 10 days and it's still as good as new after 10 days.

Filtered milk lasts massively longer than ordinary milk and for me, solo now, that convenience is great. Different brands are available and the slightly higher price is more than justified in lasting power. Kefir for the bacteria!

When I was small a really great game was when the cowman aimed the milk at us straight from the cow! If we were quick we could catch it in our mouths…….I’m still here more than seventy years later!

I grew up living near or on dairy farms and only ever had unpasteurised milk. Sometimes it was in a bottle but more often scooped straight out of the bulk tank in a jug. Presumably it was full of "impurities" but it didn't cause any of us any problems.

I also look out for filtered milk as I don't use a lot of milk and it keeps longer. It also freezes well.

We use Cravendale and as we don’t drink milk on its own find it fine.

Use only due to long use by date.

I find that filtered milk is a good alternative to those cartons of UHT milk on supermarket shelves. I buy filtered because it lasts longer and eat other products, like kefir, for my helping of healthy bacteria.

I bought some when it was on special offer and thought it tasteless. Certainly won't get it again.
Impurities? Meh! As my grandad used to say, everyone needs to eat a peck o'dirt afore they die!

I only buy filtered milk because I can order it in my grocery delivery and know it will last for a lot longer than unfiltered milk.

The filters remove the bacteria that causes milk to go off. Some of the same bacteria that people buy in other products like live yoghurt or is used in cheese making.

Our immune systems benefit from a range if bacteria introduced through the food we eat. A healthy gut us one that has lots of different bacteria in it.

The advantage of filtered is its longer life.

Same here tanith - just because it lasts longer. Obviously when I’m out, I’ll have whatever milk is on the go. I don’t think the so called ‘impurities’ are worth worrying about - probably just good advertising by Cravendale!

I buy Tesco filtered milk because it lasts longer no other particular reason.
