Feel so happy today, Summer is finally over. I love Autumn it's my favourite season. I love the colours, the smell and the feeling of anticipation it gives me. I love the nights closing in and how the house feels so much more cosy.Definately my favorite time of year.

I love the changing of the seasons. They all have something I can enjoy. Long, sunny summer evenings and short winter nights all have something special.
Just as Im starting to get a bit fed up everything changes.

I like spring best. Around Maytime. Hope for the summer still in the air - which might yet be displaced if it’s too hot and humid or a washout.

Autumn is my second favourite season, Spring is my favourite.

But I do love the tree leaves changing colours and the moderate temperatures.

I don’t like the drawing in of the evening/nights though.

While I love the crisp air and comfortable temps, I don't like the endless rain we get here on the west coast. It seems to have started.

I've got socks and cardigan on for the first time in ages. I did just get a burnt orange pedicure hoping to wear sandals well into September!

Autumn is my favourite season, summer my least favourite. I love the cosiness of this time of year, and the first day that seems really autumnal gives me the same sort of thrill that I gather most other people feel in Spring

I’m afraid of the dark and now that I am Old I hate having to go out in it, which gets very limiting. I also hate dark mornings. I don’t like alarm clocks but don’t wake naturally until it’s light.

But I do love the changing seasons and hope that climate change won’t erode that.

I was a June baby so I love the light nights, sitting outside in the garden and cafes, going out without a coat. I hate the dark, drawing the curtains at the end of the afternoon, bundling up in warm clothes.

I was feeling cold, so I have turned the heating on for the first time this year 😫

Autumn does not start until 21st September so there are 3 weeks to go. Idk where 1st September idea has come from this year.

I like Autumn, especially the smells in the air.

Gingster Tue 01-Sept-26 23:11:36

I’ve hated the summer and am so happy September is here with autumn arriving soon.

I feel I can breathe again, after this long sweltering summer.,
I love the mellow and Misty mornings, beautiful colourful countryside, earthy conkers and chestnuts, so shiny.
Home to the woodburner, curtains drawn, cost evenings and proper warming dinners. (So sick of salads and bar b ques.).

This is my happy time of the year.

I love the red berries, but the Rowans came very early this year, because of the heat.
Autumn means the start of our Clubs and hobbies. Time to catch up after tbe summer break.
And Hallowe'en.

It's the start of meteorological autumn.

Snap I am a July baby.

I love the summer, the feel of sunshine, being able to go out without a boot full of jumpers, coats, umbrellas etc., just in case

I can cope with Autumn and winter when the sky is blue, even if it is cold. However, wind, rain, and grey skies really affect my mood and general outlook on life.

I find summers increasingly difficult, I used to love them but not any longer, indeed I count the days until autumn, and am sorry to see spring go. I like lighter nights but not the rest of it, the heatwaves, the crowds, the droughts, the threat of fires. Only recently have I been able to sleep and go out with my DH and cook. This summer was like lockdown in London, other parts of the UK may have escaped it.
So relieved it is the first of September. Finally I can relax.

Exactly!
It probably felt different to those in the North, but down in the South East it was unbearable.

Autumn is my favourite season but in my opinion it doesn’t start until much later in the month………no autumnal decorations going up here until at least 23rd September

I love this thread!
I've struggled with the heat and found this summer a real challenge - I live in the southeast.

I like autumn and spring best.
I'm glad I live in a country that has distinct seasons.

No.
It's grey, it's miserable and I think I might need a cardigan.

24 or 25C all year round would suit me

Are you sitting right in my house? That’s exactly the weather here today, although I can add light rain to it! I’m debating whether to put on some socks.

Another Autumn fan here. This summer has nearly creased me with the looong stretch of blisteringly hot days. I welcome the cooler weather and generally feel better because of it.
Only 2 downsides. One is that my evening jaunts are curtailed as I can no longer cope with LED searchlights on vehicles and the other is spiders!

It started raining right after I posted.
The garden's loving it. The fuchsias are flowering well at last.

Autumn is just the best of all seasons. A friend once said she didn't like autumn as she found it too poignant. I think that's exactly why I do love it so much. Poignancy in a blaze of colour.

I agree but, somehow, it's come too soon for me this year.

Yes, we didn't have much of a gap between the Summer heatwave and the recent change in the weather did we? It's really autumnal here today, dull and wet, though not cold

Yes. Not the 1st which is the convenient date for meteorologists.

However, it does feel autumnal today.
Because of the drought, some trees had a false autumn too so there have been lots of leaves around.
