Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Up to my usual routine with a bus trip into Bicester do a shop and maybe have chat with people I have got to know.
On the health front OK, yet still have pain in my right thigh where I slipped slightly during a rain shower in Bath last Saturday, that's the rouble after a dry spell like we have had shoe rubber and on wet surface will make you slip .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from the east coast and it’s lovely so far.
DH is going to cut the grass this morning as its ages since he’s done it but with all the rain it’s now green, lush and long.

Yesterday went well at my uncles flat we had the help from my brother too. DH and I had 20+ bags of clothes to take to the clothing bank at the tip. We left everything in the lounge that we want a clearance company to take so not too much left to do now.

Today I’ll do a long walk round to the local shopping park to get my steps in. Tonight we have been invited to DSs house for a meal and a drink. DGS is in Turkey with his mother so it’s an opportunity to chill with DS and his partner while he’s not there. I said we don’t mind picking up an Indian on the way but she said she may cook. When we had our party on Saturday night everyone loved her and we feel very blessed she has come into DSs and GSs life.
Our school children in this area have 7 weeks off this year so don’t return to school until next week. A lot of people took the opportunity to go abroad including our little ones. The DGDs are in Greece. It’s been a quiet week so far.

Wishing a lovely day for all with moments of joy. 🌼
Thoughts to those struggling with pain, stress and illness 💐

Oh, Georgesgran, what an awful experience. The main thing is you're in one piece, cars can be replaced.

Good luck to all youngsters back to the classroom today.

Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk which was bright and sunny only 15 minutes ago. I think, and hope,we’ll have some much needed rain later.

Keep fit classes restart today so I’ll be off in about an hour and will have coffee afterwards with 3 friends from the class.

Hope all have a good day.

Good morning from N. Bucks.
I have to two boys again this morning, they start school again tomorrow. The youngest (5) is very excited about going back., his brother not so much. They have asked to do some ‘proper’ watercolour so I’ve drawn an outline for the younger ,the other will manage his own.
Once they have been collected I’m off to help set up for our WI 90th party.
I will need DHs help to transport the cake and various other bits and pieces. We have a speaker who is said to be very good and amusing. She has requested that we wear dresses and hats if possible.
Hope those off on outing have a good time and thoughts with those unable to be out and about.
A good day wished for all.

harrigran Wed 02-Sept-26 07:55:30

Good morning from a sunny NE but rain is forecast.
GD2 is 17 today and it is her first day in 6th form at her new school. New to her, the school is actually 500years old and is the school her father attended.
GD and her friends are going out for dinner this evening. Family celebrations are done on a weekend.
DD is coming today and will work online in my study while SIL and I do the shopping.
Have a good day.

Georgesgran take it easy today. What horrible thing to happen!

Georgesgran Wed 02-Sept-26 07:51:41

Good morning from a bright, but cloudy Durham.
An eventful afternoon when an Amazon wagon ran into me on the A1M. Totally his fault, I’m ok, but my car is a bit of a mess. The driver was unemotional, spoke no English, but put me in touch with his Transport Manager and I’m hoping to hear from Zurich (their insurers) today. As a result, I’ve slept badly.
So, an enforced day at home, until I find out what’s going on, but I’ve DGS2’s holiday laundry to keep me busy.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Off to visit my friend with the slowly healing foot. I expect we will have a good chat. 10 people turned up to art yesterday the biggest number we have ever had, just a bit ore difficult to hear all the chat. Later quiet afternoon
Have a great day Madeleine
Hope you feel better Mick slipping around is scary
Best wishes

Good morning from Morecambe bay where Bay where it’s been wet overnight and more rain is forecast for the day.
I managed to cut our clients grass yesterday but I found it incredibly hard work. I’ve obviously lost a lot of strength and fitness since I last cut it seven years ago. I must do something to get some of the fitness back. Walking CDog is obviously not enough. I think a gym membership may be in order.
I’m also losing the plot mentally as I managed to order 2 lots of bulbs from T&M. I can’t vouch for the quality of the bulbs but the assistant in customer service was second to none, and immediately cancelled one of the orders. I then received an e mail apologising for them having to cancel one of my orders. Obviously a standard e mail.
Today we return SDog and see our granddaughter as it’s her birthday. She’s usually back at school on her birthday but this year she goes back on Thursday.
I really hope Madeleine has an enjoyable day and the rain doesn’t spoil things too much.
Thinking of everyone else with troubles.and difficulties. Take care 🌸

Good morning everyone from a mild, grey mid Essex, I think (hope) we may have a shower later.

I had a walk yesterday morning, then visited my dementia friend in the afternoon. I’ll have my usual walk this morning, hopefully will meet up with some dog walking friends.

madeleine I hope you have a brilliant time at the Muker show and that you don’t need your raincoat and wellies!

My television also turns itself on again after I’ve switched it off occasionally, fortunately it does it very soon after switching off. A friend’s tv also does it - both of us have Sonys.

My DGDs are back at school today - senior school for the 11 year old. Her sister isn’t looking forward to going back, but their cousin is quite happy about it.

Have as good a day as you can everyone, whatever life throws at you.

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle. It won't last long, rain is due!
Yesterday seems to have gone in a blur, I was busy at this and that little job, made some bread, started a new book but didn't go out in the garden, it was a showery day that settled into steady rain in the late afternoon. I think we've had enough rain for now.

Today I'm off to the garden centre as I just need a few more tulips. The ones I put in my raised bed do not seem to come up again. Apparently it can be a problem of wet soil but I suspect wood mice but, if so, they aren't digging the bulbs out but getting them from below.
Later, I could tackle the ironing and/or do some bathroom cleaning.

It sounds like you will have a lovely day Madeleine, good luck with the weather!

And have a good day everyone if possible.

latedecember1963 Wed 02-Sept-26 07:23:06

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.

Hope you have a fab day out, Madeleine, but be careful about your leg.
Enjoy your outing with your friend, Bellasnana. It's nice when someone else offers to drive for a change.

Yesterday's preview evening for the Jigsaw Festival went well. As usual it was attended by 2 Mayors, one from Bury and the other from Rossendale.

The festival is run by 2 churches in the team which straddle the border so we've always included both Mayors.

I'm doing a full day's volunteering today. DH is taking a day's annual leave to look after the little chap.
I'm on the raffle this morning and stewarding the puzzle area this afternoon.

My friend from Canvey Island is driving up today to stay for a few days.
We've also got a video call at teatime for the birthday of one of the little chap's half siblings. It's all go!!

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Grandmabatty Wed 02-Sept-26 07:20:42

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and damp. Madeleine have a lovely day. GrandMattie happy anniversary to your dd and dsil.
Yesterday we had spells of torrential rain which lingered until evening. Further progress with dgs2 who went in to school without his big brother. I didnt do too much back at home but just tidied up. When I picked them up, dgs2 handed me a drawing of a street. His teacher is always there for the handover and she likes a chat. She's really kind. Dgs1 was sad because the janny is retiring and he's very fond of the man. The school are learning a Beatles song to sing to him(words adapted).
After I took the boys home, I didnt do much. This rib pain is annoying me. So I will try to secure a doctor's appointment this morning. Then, an hour at the school library. Have a good day all.

HelterSkelter1 Wed 02-Sept-26 07:04:57

Good morning from a so far dry N Surrey. My bedroom faces north but when I draw the curtains I can see sunlight reflected on the houses opposite. Very pink reflections this morning. So pretty, but usually means rain later.
Yesterday there was a sudden chill in the afternoon and I had to search out a wool sweater. I could really do with a wool cardigan. Maybe that will be an early christmas present from me to me. A patterned waist length one.
A post office trip this morning as well as Waitrose. And some on going paperwork.
I need to find a gardener this autumn.
Madeleine I hope you have a wonderful day and it stays dry.
On Friday I have a dear relation coming to stay for a few days which will be lovely. The house seems very quiet now.
Enjoy today everyone whatever you are up to.

kittylester Wed 02-Sept-26 07:01:10

Have the best day possible everyone.

karmalady Wed 02-Sept-26 06:54:01

I have to switch my tv off at the mains, a sony. It switches itself on too. I have tried every which way, everything I could via the electronic route but switching off is the only way which works

Greyduster Wed 02-Sept-26 06:52:42

That’s a comfort, Brook - thank you. As I crept down the stairs , I thought I was being burgled by two mad women who couldn’t make their minds up what to steal!!😂

brook2704 Wed 02-Sept-26 06:46:12

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey clouds and it’s grey
We’ve had that same issue with a TV greyduster, we couldn’t really get any resolution from the manufacturer and didn’t want the hassle of returning it so we try to remember to switch it off at the mains now Weird though isn’t it!
I’m up early as I’ve a fairly long volunteering session this morning, it’ll be good to see everyone and have a chat. After that a quick trip to the gym then home before going out dancing this evening
Hoping everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐

GrannyGravy13 Wed 02-Sept-26 06:45:06

Good morning Mick and all 🙋‍♀️

It is overcast here at the moment, I think we have showers forecast.

Off to the gym this morning (Callanetics) then I need to sort out my shoes (I still refuse to count them 🙀)

DS4’s children go back to school today year 2 and year 5, when I saw them yesterday DGD was enthusiastic DGS not so.

Good morning from Sheffield
Yes Greyduster it feels like a rainy day.
Ou doorbell goes off in the middle of the night too. Although it’s young people coming home after a night out. Our door is bang next to the pavement and they find it irresistible to press that shiny doorbell. We have to be very aware of security due to our business so we fly out of bed thinking it’s the alarm going off. Greatangry
I’m working today. Our eldest DS is calling round this evening for a cuppa. I’ve not seen him for a couple of weeks so that will be nice.
Hope all goes to plan Madeleine, have a lovely day
Take care everyone flowers

karmalady Wed 02-Sept-26 06:29:30

Good morning from autumnal s somerset

Have a wonderful day Madeleine

I am quite enjoying the transition to the winter slowdown, I believe that I am twinned with a hedgehog. Michaelmas daisy is going into flowering mode, almost a month early

A large wash dried well outside yesterday including several poplin cotton tops and one dress and I will get the ironing done straight after breakfast. Like most others, I had been taking drying weather for granted

Today, lots of knitting, some reading, a walk and a bit of sewing which will finish my dress. It does look promising, perfect for autumn with some coloured tights. I will see how it wears and could well make another in a few days. I do love that vintage inspired look, with a hint of waist, a bit of Mrs McCarthy style from the Father Brown stories

The next de-cluttered load is just starting to build, some indoor plants, plus an outdoor potted mint with small leaves and there will be several smallish barrel-style pots to go soon, I can add to that from indoors, just need to keep the awareness about de-cluttering as I live my daily life

Good morning from Shropshire.Raining☔️

We had a lovely day with DGS yesterday. His confidence has grown over the last couple of months which is lovely to see.We called at Lidl on the way home for milk and spent £40🤷‍♀️

A day at home today catching up after a busy couple of days.Reading and no doubt a snooze this afternoon.I need to make an appointment with the dreaded dentist as a piece came off a tooth yesterday.

Sorry you slipped Mick, the same happened to me earlier in the summer when we had a downpour. So easily done.

Have a lovely day madeleine.

Hope Marydoll is starting to feel better 🙏🏻

Wishing everyone a good day 🦩🌻

Greyduster Wed 02-Sept-26 06:26:58

This morning’s “rosy fingered dawn” (thank you, Homer!).

Greyduster Wed 02-Sept-26 06:09:29

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still fairly dark but looks dry. It will rain today though. I had a strange night. I’d been in bed about three hours fast asleep when I woke up and could hear noise. Looked out of the window - nothing. Started to go downstairs and heard voices. The tv was on! I distinctly remember turning it off with the remote and would certainly have noticed when I finally turned off the lights. Weird! Then about three, the sound of the doorbell ringing woke me up. Nobody there. Not a soul around. DH, if you’re haunting me, “It’s not funny, Kid!”😁.

Fridgegate rumbles on with the quest to find one that fits the space, but SiL popped over yesterday and thinks he might be able to make the space wider. I can get the same model as the one we’ve had for the past twelve years, but they are certainly not as well made. It is still working but reluctantly at the moment!

Writers group this afternoon. I got word yesterday that I will be needed back at school next week, so it’s back in the old routine!

Have the best day you can, folks.
