Things you find difficult as you get older

Well Cumbrianmale, I'm 85 and a Scottish female, and have no problem with that! I don't think it's anything to do with age but more a soup of genes and past experience flowing through you. I'm very lucky with the former and have practiced tai chi for 26 years ...... I'm also aware that pride might very well come before that fall 😉

79, the age of decline.

I was quite fit and able to do all the things I wanted and needed to do quite easily until about two years ago when I was diagnosed with arthritis in my hips. I am 79.
Now I find any bending job difficult. I still walk for an hour most days and am still able to manage all my cleaning. I still use my 3 rung ladder but my children are not happy about this but some jobs need one.

I walk a lot 20 odd miles a week, but my wrist strength is diminished I can't garden for long but I did manage to check all my tyres last week. I do have good energy levels though but find I do short bouts and do manage all my own cleaning etc this way. I'm 78 now and keep promising myself no more climbing on a two step ladder to change a light bulb or rehang a blind but i hate asking for help with simple jobs.

From 50 to 65 I didn’t really feel that I was getting older, I was working and did most things I did when younger.
From my late 60s to my present age 77, I started to feel less able and noticed that my energy levels and my patience were becoming reduced. With arthritis strengthening its grip, my bladder losing its grip, and various other health problems taking their turn to stop me in my tracks from time to time I find quite a few things difficult. But I do walk, not too far with my DH because he wss disabled by a stroke and can’t go far, however, when he is resting I make sure I go for a longer quicker walk, sadly couldn’t do this during the heatwaves but am back to my routine now.

My energy and fitness was exactly the same as when I was in my 20s.
Late 70s was when mine started to decrease.

That's due to loss of estrogen.
It can be helped by doing weights 2 to 3 times a week and/or going on body identical HRT.
