Recommendations for pet trackers.

I’m hoping some Gransnetters might have experience of trackers for pets, specifically for cats. One of my cats has begun to wander and I’d like to keep tabs on him. He’s currently got an Air tag type of tracker on a collar but it’s not very accurate eg it said he was fourteen feet away from me to my left when he was actually right next to me!

From my research, there seem to be other tags which go on a collar and also entire collars that look neater. Some offer the ability to see the route your pet has been, rather than simply where he is at that very moment. Some need a subscription or allow a ‘fence’ to be set up, which tells you when they’ve left a designated safe area. Yet others have lights on them and of course they all claim to be the best!

So any recommendations on what to choose, or not choose would be welcome, as none are particularly cheap and I don’t want to waste my money. Thank you!

I don’t know about cats but several friends of mine use Tractive a tracking device for dogs . It’s uses GPS to find your dog.
We’ve looked after friends dogs who have an Apple tag on their collar but you need an iPhone.

Thank you. I’ve used an Apple Tag on my cat but it droops into his water bowl when he’s drinking. 😂

Tractive gets such mixed reviews, which is why I thought GN might have more personal experiences.
