Crossed post baubles
What a shock for stilllearning big hug going her way and hopefully she can find an aid that will help. I can’t imagine how she feels.

Good morning everyone from a dull and overcast Northampton, showers expected later.
Yesterday was lovely, and I had a nice walk to the paper shop and postbox in the morning. Washed three autumn/winter jackets, which dried nicely outside on the line.
Didn't do a lot apart from that; watched an old film on tv (The Lion in Winter) which I found a lot more interesting this time than when I first saw it in the late 60s. And Katharine Hepburn's American accent (as Eleanor of Aquitaine) was distinctly out of place!

No plans for today apart from thinking about what clothes I am going to take on holiday. Might start getting a few things together.

So sorry to hear the news about Stillearning, how devastating for her.

An easy dinner tonight, home-made Bolognese from the freezer, so just pasta to cook.

Wishing all a pleasant Monday.

Morning, 14 and soft rain in S Hants. Yesterday was our usual quiet Sunday, caught up with a couple of programmes and ordered some Christmas bits.
Today is voluntary phone, around that some light housework.
Bedding change tomorrow and electric blanket will go on, it’s only me that uses my side. MrJ only gets chilly if he’s under the weather.
Have a pleasant day all.

Good morning from dry South Lanarkshire, it must have been cold through the night as the heating has kicked in.

The show yesterday was funny although the humour was a little too near the knuckle for me, the tv programme is mild in comparison.

I’ve had a message from Stilllearning, she was dealt a severe blow at her recent appointment at the Ophthalmology hospital department. She has asked me to pass it on so I’ve copied part of her message.

“ I was told that the macular degeneration is now affecting both eyes. I had realised that I was really struggling with reading but it had not even crossed my mind that this could happen. The deterioration in my vision has been dramatic, everything is slightly blurred and I can only read a very small area at a time with the help of a magnifying glass.”

She is researching low vision aids just now and will hopefully find something which will be helpful.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s just getting light and we’ve a lovely pink sky.
Heating on here as expected, it’s much too cold without.
I’ve a volunteering session this afternoon and then looking forward to going out dancing this evening. We’re looking after DD2s puppy for a few days this week, she’ll be arriving mid afternoon.
Marydoll sending you a gentle hug, I wish things were much better for you
Hoping everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐

Morning all from a cool West Oxfordshire.

It was lovely having younger son stay for the weekend. He is very good company. He and his brother still aren’t speaking. It’s over two years now. I find it heart breaking,

Our cleaner should be here this morning. I will listen to two lectures on Georgian art and architecture.

It is my over the road neighbour’s monthly craft group after lunch. I thinking we’re doing something to do with poppies.

Oh MaryD, I’m so sorry that life is so hard at the moment. Hopefully you can have a positive trip to see your GP.

Have a good day.

Gingster Mon 12-Oct-26 07:46:23

Good morning and our heating comes on for a couple of hours in the morning and late afternoon. I’ll leave it that way at the moment.m
Electric blankets back on beds, so nice and cosy here in Essex.

The roof men will be here again today for the last time 🤞. They have been excellent and I would recommend them to anyone.
Plasterer was due tomorrow but it will be Wednesday now.
Electrician next week. Painter too 🤞.
We have to wait for the carpet but hopefully not too long.
Can’t wait to get my (usually) tudy house back in order.

Today is Chimes group but as our leaders Dh died last week , we won’t be playing, just meeting up for coffee. We’ll send flowers from us all and I’ll take pastries in for sweet treats to keep us cheery. We’re hoping D will pop in and see us .

Oh dear Marydoll and Madeleine , loving and healing thoughts to you both. 🙏🙏. I hope the medics can ease your pain.

Take care all.🌻

Good morning from the NE where it is 7° with a forecast of 14°and some rain this morning.
Yesterday was a quiet day, I stayed in bed until noon, read a magazine and had messages from my sister who is on holiday in the Lakes.
DD rang from her home in Brussels, she likes to talk while she is doing the ironing. I didn't expect the call because she is travelling to the UK on Wednesday and I will see her on Thursday.
I slept better last night so hope to have more energy today and will do some admin work.
Have a good day.

RosesandLilac Mon 12-Oct-26 07:29:19

Marzipan22

My heating is set to come on automatically at 18° grandMattie and it has been coming on a bit this past week though I have turned the radiators right down so I don't really notice it.

Mine too grandMattie and Marzipzn. I just turn the radiators up a bit when needed. I have lit the wood burner a couple of times too.
Good morning everyone, it’s chilly here in south Glos, barely light and very still.
I spent yesterday morning finishing sorting my craft room out; I still can’t find my electric pencil sharpener so goodness knows where it is! I also got the washing dried outside and spent a couple of hours knitting the socks for my friend. A very pleasant Sunday here.
I have ordered more wallflowers online, bare rooted and they should be here by midweek. They’ll provide early food for the bees etc as well as brightening up the garden.
My load of mulch arrives today but not until between 5 and 7pm……so guess what I will be doing tomorrow!
I want to start a watercolour painting today, I have no excuses so that’s my plan. There’s plenty leftover from yesterday’s roast for our dinner, so no need to cook.
Best wishes to you all x
🌹

Good morning from a chilly S E Essex, DH has just gone down to make the tea. He has out the heating on, I will get up,after I have read your posts, drink my tea and the house is warmer.

I need to buy a few missing ingredients for my Christmas chutney for preparing and cooking tomorrow. Then it’s the gym and at 12pm I have an appointment at a cloning to have multiple little moles removed from my face.

I will be confine myself to barracks for the rest of the week whilst they heal (apart from a manicure / pedicure on Thursday as a treat to me from me.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a still dark Carlisle where it is 10°C and, I suspect, cloudy.
My heating works off the thermostat which is set low at the moment but is now kicking in morning and evening. It's getting a little chilly in the evening but I'm resisting turning it up until the end of the month, I'm using my cosy fleece throw instead.

Yesterday was a quiet day, wanting to give my body a good chance to recover from the wretched kidney infection. I pottered through some little, rarely done cleaning jobs in the kitchen.
I potted up my hyacinth bulbs and after lunch planted the remaining tulips in my raised bed and front border. I was tempted but refrained from doing much more. I do tend to get carried away and then find I've overdone it. However, I couldn't resist a quick whip round with my loppers!

The evening was quiet. I'm slowly catching up with David Attenborough's old series which I have recorded, 13 episodes I think. He does look amazingly young!

Today, into town to collect a delivery from M&S and I'll possibly have a quick look in the food hall. I can't be long as DS1 and DiL are supposed to be popping in on
their way south. Later, I'll probably start in on laundry and vacuuming.

Have a good day everyone, I hope.

kittylester Mon 12-Oct-26 07:24:55

Good morning all fromva moody looking North Leicestershire.

I too have ironing to do and then DGS3 is coming over and we are going to the pub for tea. He opted to do a Degree Apprenticeship in Chemical Engineering and earns well enough to have bought and run his own car. His suster, on the other hand, can't wait to go to university and is currently going to lots of open days.

We had a good day with DS1 yesterday. He and DH decided not to renew their football season tickets so they watch Forest, together, here and I get to see more of him.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Mon 12-Oct-26 07:15:29

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s getting light, high cloud snd fairly mild at 11 degrees.

Yesterday DD2 came over on her way to a gathering of her OH’s family at his mum’s house. She pulled an old shrub out of its pot for me, now I need to get it into the garden waste bin. I’m trying to reduce the number of pots in the garden so some plants either have to go in the garden or in the bin!

DD1 was working so her DH brought the DGDs and dog over to me for a visit. He looked at my printer and decided it was time for a new one! I ordered one last night and it should be delivered tomorrow.

I was cold last night so may put the electric blanket and winter weight duvet on the bed in readiness for cold nights. Otherwise no plans for today.

marydoll I hope your gp can help you this morning.

madeleine I hope you have a better day today and can get some helpful information from your hospital.

Have as good a day as is possible everyone.

latedecember1963 Mon 12-Oct-26 07:08:24

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
It's getting chillier here too and our heating has been kicking in automatically at about 20°. At the moment we're happy to wear an extra layer or snuggle under a blanket in the evening.
Our house is on an exposed corner and even with good windows and doors can feel cold in winter.
DH doesn't feel the cold but I hate being cold. I think I must have been a salamander in a previous life.

Your family get together sounds lots of fun, Marzipan22.

DH has gone into the office so I need to get washed and dressed soon.
Going to do the laundry this morning. A friend is going to message later when she's finished some chores at her house and then we'll have a little jaunt locally.

Hope you haven't been troubled with cramp again overnight, Baubles.

Wishing you all the best day possible. 🌻

Gelisa Mon 12-Oct-26 07:05:55

Good Morning, from Morecambe Bay where it is dry and cool with showers threatened for later. I do hope they keep away as I have a clients garden to put to bed this morning. Then it’s a new chiropodist appointment this afternoon. I’m hoping she can do something with my toes as years of wearing steel capped boots have taken there toll on my poor nails. I wonder if I can get half price as it’s only one foot that’s the problem😂
I’m up early this morning and the bread is baking in the bread maker. The house will smell very homely when we get back from our walk in the woods. DH and CDog are still asleep so I’ll take him his TiB when I’ve finished typing. I’ll read properly later but skimming through the earlier threads, your frustration Madeleine came through with every word. Your anxiety and tension about your eye can’t be helping everything else. I’m sure we all feel for you.💐
Karma how you get so much done in a day is a mystery to me. I wish I could through a quarter of what you get through. Take care everyone🌸

Melanie61 Mon 12-Oct-26 07:02:10

Good morning from Sheffield
I’m sorry you’re feeling so rubbish Marydoll, I do hope the doctor can find something to help you.

Well, it’s countdown to hubbys op on Wednesday. He’s doing all the jobs he needs to before he can’t use his hand for a few weeks. He’s wanting to help the Builder today so I’m working all day. I’ve got tomorrow off and then I’m working full-time for the next few weeks. I’ll just take one day at a time.
I’ll do very little housework. I’ve got Gousto coming for meals and I’ve got a freezer full as well.
I must get up and I’m going to do some yoga. It will set me up for the day.

Take care everyoneflowers

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where we have a very moody sunrise going on, and it feels very cold this morning. Rain is expected too. My heating has just kicked in.

Yesterday I made the sloe gin, did some laundry, wrote some letters and cut the top lawn to the last nine square yards when the battery ran out! SiL keeps urging me to get another as a standby, but it’s just another thing I haven’t got round to.

Not sure what is on the agenda today except for putting some air in my tyres.

Have the best day you can, folks.

Marydoll Mon 12-Oct-26 06:54:31

Good morning all, 8°C here.

We have already had the heating on. 18°C would too cold for me! I need at least 21°, my circulation is so poor
Yesterday, we set the church heating for the rest of the winter.
I was everyone's best friend.🥵

After church , I became unwell with dizziness and nausea, I fell asleep for three hours, then was violently sick.
My day out with DD has had to be cancelled again. I feel so awful.

I have a GP appointment first thing. I hope she can help me.
I have no quality of life these days.

Wishing everyone a better day than mine That wouldn't be difficult,😉

Usedtobeblonde Mon 12-Oct-26 06:52:29

Good morning from Stockport.
It is dark and chilly, yesterday turned into a lovely sunny day, I hope today is the same although some rain is forecast.
I have a dental checkup today, it seems to be the season for GNetters to be visiting the dentist.
Later a Sainsbury’s delivery , but that is all the excitement for today, probably for the week.
I wish you all a good day with some sunshine.

GillyMo Mon 12-Oct-26 06:50:32

Good morning from a mild Mid-Wales. Surprisingly, no rain forecast today!

I am staying with a relative who is recovering after an operation so yesterday I got all the food shopping for the week. Yesterday's dinner was beef stew with veg and rosemary followed by apple crumble and custard. Today I'll do a pasta bolognaise and an apple sponge. I'll make some oat cookies later.
A gentle stroll to the church and back then an afternoon of reading. Currently reading an Agatha Christie but it's not great. It was the last book she wrote and it's written in a different style to her earlier books.
Wishing all a happy Monday.

karmalady Mon 12-Oct-26 06:38:10

Good morning from s somerset, cool, dull and damp here, all day I think

Yesterday was a completely easy day, I completed the last of my downloaded patterns, all are now in A4 envelopes and ready to finish off to the right size, when I feel like it. I worked on my first quilted top and did a lot of easy hand sewing with a lovely pebble needle, like slicing through butter. Then I made a 3=day soup/casserole

To top the day I decided to get a project organised, to keep me busy in mind and body, over the new year week. All bits needed are now ordered

A good sleep followed and I am expecting to have another easy day but do need to do some exercise and will tackle the local walking route, with the steep hill

Today, I will finish quilted top number 1, it is a short one and not thick, perfect for slipping on when chilly but not cold. Gathering a load of washing is next as tomorrow will likely be a good drying day.

I have decided to not wait to make a quilted housecoat, a long one, I have some very good fabric, double gauze each side with a filling that is a good thickness. It feels cool today and the lights are dim, as they were last night. I am guessing that voltage has been lowered to try and conserve our energy reserves

Marzipan enjoy your out and about day

Marzipan22 Mon 12-Oct-26 05:36:21

My heating is set to come on automatically at 18° grandMattie and it has been coming on a bit this past week though I have turned the radiators right down so I don't really notice it.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and dry. Still dark. Ashcombe good job! Ironing is my bete noire.
Yesterday dgs2 was so well behaved. We played more games of Frustration with the rules changing each time. He was very excited when he got a 6. When dd came for him, he insisted in playing a game with her too. After he left, i tidied up then went for a lie down. It turned into a 2 hour nap! Dinner was a very colourful plate of salad and chicken. Then a fairly early night.
Today is early childcare day. So I'm up having a coffee before porridge. I will drop off dgs1 at football camp then dgs2 will go to my house. No idea what we will get up to. Later I will pick up dgs1 again and have a couple of hours with him before his dad comes for him. Salad again for dinner. Have a good day all.

Marzipan22 Mon 12-Oct-26 05:31:49

Good morning from a rainy Cornwall. I've woken up early and am hungry so will get up and make a drink and have a pre-breakfast snack in a minute.

I had the loveliest evening celebrating a family birthday at my eldest son's with a house full of my daughter-in-law's family. Much chaos ensued and my two 40-something sons ended up in a tangle on the floor with the youngest grandchildren. Add to the mix my ex who is newly single and it became an enjoyable if somewhat noisy evening, to say the least.

This morning I'm at my new sewing group which will be fun and heartwarming, after which I'll take whichever bus passes by first and go to a library somewhere for a mooch around. I do need some different piano music as I have played Diabelli to death so I may venture a bit further afield to the county music library and see what they have to offer.
