Good morning from the holding pen, or the crazy room, as I now call it, I'm still here. The staff have now been trying for three days to get a bed in the cardiology ward.
The consultant told me yesterday, that the maximum stay for this ward is two days, I am on day six!!!
On the positive side, this means that, my case is not as urgent as some patients.
I feel safe here, the doctors are based in the area beside my room.

I've just had an anri sickness pill, my BP is the lowest it has ever been, oh the irony of it!!
It looks like my meds need revised,
The night nurse is so on so the ball, it helps to alleviate my anxiety about my heart.
Because it is a general acute word, the nurses are not specialists and don't understand my unusual condition.

The latest novella from the madhouse involves a mad lady from Chicago, who came to Scotland fifty years ago.
She was brought in after a fall, bruised from head to toe, including having a black eye.
(The rooms are full of elderly people, who have had falls.)

Talk about demanding!
She wasn't allowed out of bed alone, but was constantly out of the bed, demanding tea, her meds etc in a very loud voice.
I think she thought she was in a private hospital in the USA
She must have pressed her buzzer at least five times in five minutes! She was driving the staff mad.
On one occasion, she was wandering in the corridor, rather confused, when she spotted me alerting staff. She told me that, she was going to hit me for telling on her.🙈

Later, I had a bad coughing fit and she came to check that I was OK, Then after demanding tea a dozen times, she refused it, when it was offered.
Before she went to sleep, she blew me a kiss and wished me, Nite, Nite. 🤣

Having successfully delayed the P.P's visit, I looked out of my room yesterday and standing at the nurses station was our former curate. He had been asked to come and see someone, who was dying.
About ten minutes later, he appeared in my room, which was crowded with visitors.
He promptly got out his sick call set and started to pray.
The look on my face, was one of horror.
People did not know where to look.
Eventually he said, Oh, do you want the curtains closed?.

He does not like women working in the sacristy and in his new parish, the chief sacristan is a woman. He is not a happy man!!
I was winding him up, asking if he was missing me and had he realised how much I did, to make life easy for him? 😉

Everyone of my family visited me yesterday, it was such a joyous day. Babydoll was in her pumpkin dress, doing twirls for everyone in the ward and Dollie aged ten was dressed like a trendy teenager, with the cool attitude that comes with it.🥴

I have just been to the loo and found that the latest resident (must have come in during the night) has very neatly, laid out all of her toiletries on the sink. There is no room for anyone to get washed,
She must think she is in a hotel.🤣

GM no-one thinks you are stupid, they are concerned for your wellbeing and urging you to take care, all with the best of intentions.
I probably do as much as you, but didn't listen to the advice to slow down.
Yesterday, the consultant said, that this heart episode had been building up slowly for a while and I had ignored the signs. True!
Then WHAM!!! Too late, to stop it.

Another groundhog day today. Babydoll may visit, I am looking forward to that.

Best wishes to all my fellow mountaineers. ♥️

Buona Domenica!!

Good morning from Wiltshire.

Spent a couple of hours in the garden yesterday preparing the largest flowerbed filled with dahlias for winter. It was surprisingly warm for the last day of October. DH cut the dahlias down (some still in flower) and dug up the tubers for next year while I cut the foliage into the garden bin. They all had tall canes with identity tags but he wasn’t all that good at matching them to the tubers. Oh well. Tubers drying out on newspaper in the conservatory.

Saw DD2 and the horrors on Friday for lunch. Actually, they were on pretty good form for once with no spats occurring. GS2 had a rather short, new haircut. In 2025 DGS2 had long thick gold-brown curls which I do miss, but after finding my hair cutting scissors he cut his own hair 🤦‍♀️and he now has hair a normal length on top but very short at the back. Makes him look much older. GD3’s hair is blonde and much finer in texture.

BlueSapphire you have been very fortunate with the weather on your cruise. Your photos have been lovely. Karma your comment about mafia in Sicily reminded me of my stepson’s wedding in Italy a decade ago. He married a girl from Naples. The wedding was very upmarket in a famous resort nearby. It was obvious to us few Brits there, that there were minders patrolling the perimeters of the grounds which was a little unnerving.

Marydoll even whilst in hospital and with so much going on, you manage to humour us all with your tales of life on the ward. I do hope they find you a bed soon in Cardiology. It must be exhausting with all the comings and goings where you are now.

Have a good Sunday everyone. First roast beef dinner of the season later, it must be March since we last had one.

Good morning from a dry and cool N Surrey. What a lovely autumn day yesterday. The colours of the leaves are stunning. The 2 horsechestnuts in our garden are just starting to drop their leaves. Not blown off by the wind, but just dropping straight down. We have lived here almost 45 years and I still love seeing them. Not so keen on sweeping them up. Many many fewer conkers this year. Sweeping them up was fairly quick.
Today in the garden as much as possible. I need to move the 2 metal benches and metal table closer to the house onto concrete so that the sweeping of the grass will be easier. The benches are aluminium so very light. A one woman job to move them. The table is a metal which rusts so its usually covered with a cloth when in use. But small and light. The benches are 10 years or so old but still look brand new. They were from Homebase and less than 100.00 each. Such a good buy and I was sad to see our localish Homebase close.

The heating has just clicked on. I will switch it off after an hour once it has taken the chill off the air. I will now make a large mug of tea and then read for a while.
Have a good Sunday.

Good morning from s somerset, drat, I was hoping for a nice sunny day, that isn`t going to happen so I am not going cycling and so be it

I did boost the ch all over the house, all the areas, by just 0.5 of a degree and I had to change the thermostat times. My coldest time always seems to be as soon as I get up, so I have amended that, it isn`t instant heat with underfloor heating

My shocking very bruised back of hand with bruising extending past my wrist bone, I am expecting it to be bruised for another two weeks but the colouring has not extended (I did mark it with a sharpie pen) and I breathe a sigh of relief. My immune system is fighting back well. Rose thorns are dangerous to old bodies via old thin skin and I do not have any protective fat on my arms, everywhere else yes and the rest of my body is smooth and soft but my arms are old- lady crinkly. I am concentrating on moisturising and oiling now and better late than never

I had a full day out yesterday and will be happy at home all day, I was going to make a venison ragu but have popped the venison in the freezer, I have enough ready food in my fridge for at least two days, so no cooking today and that leaves me free to sew my much-needed pyjamas.

I do want to begin to re-vamp my filing system for my sewing stash and today I am expecting A5 cardstock and several A5 zipped files, I intend to use one card per fabric and I will discard when that fabric is used. It will be a better system than the A5 ring files I use presently. I have a labeler and will make labels for each pouch of cards eg linens, viscose, French terry etc The A5 ring files themselves take up a lot of room and they can soon be de-cluttered

My house is tidy and clean, the garden does not need attention, which leaves me with a nice free day and I will not waste it

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. Cool and dry again so hopefully we have a nice day in store.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of watching DGD1 play netball. She had a great game and her team won so I was pleased for her. Afterwards we went for coffee with her and her Mum which was a treat.

I had my flu jab last night, the clinic was heaving but it was very efficient and I was in and out in no time.

Mass this morning and then in the afternoon I and my yarn group friends will put up our poppy panels in the town.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from Sheffield

Our tv was playing up last night so came to bed really early. Consequently I am awake really early, no matter, I have had plenty of sleep. Joined by the gorgeous cockapoo. Not cockatoo! That did make me chuckle 🤭

The refurbishment of our outside loo is complete. Very posh it is too. I need to give the tiled walls and floor a good wipe down this morning but I’m very pleased with it.
Our daughter has invited us for lunch and then they are off to the cinema so we will watch the boys.
I have made a caramel apple gingerbread cake to take, I’ve had a crafty taste, it’s delicious

Take care everyone flowers

Good morning Michael and all GN's on a dark ,still, morning in North Yorkshire. White rabbits white rabbits white rabbits to you all on November 1st! Well I am hoping for a quieter and simpler november, after quite a tough October.

Yesterday, I was yet again struggling to move about, and getting very frustrated by how slowly I was able to do things. So much for being the first one at the repair cafe.! As I had had an email to say the other trousers were in the shop to collect, I decided to go there first, try them on and then carry on to the repair place and get both pairs trimmed to match my blue trousers. Huh! what a poor decision that turned out to be. I duly went to the shop and the assistant produced the new trousers. I really liked the colour, as in the catalogue they are very poor colours and not really true to life, but as soon as I saw them I could see that they were too long. It stated crop size on them , but to be sure I went and tried them on. The waist etc fitted but not only were they too long, they slightly flaired out at the bottom. so even if I had thought it was worth doing they would have been difficult to put a hem on. So rather annoyed that they claimed that they were the same as the previous trousers I had to give them back and then faff about getting my money back etc. All of which meant that I had delayed my arrival at the repair cafe and so of course was now in a queue. The roads and paths there were poor and between my back giving me a lot of pain, and the waste of time I was not a happy bunny!!

However things improved. They had done some lovely decorations for Halloween, with big pumpkins and all sorts of ghosts and witches hats etc decorating their little cafe, and so I was able to calm down with a coffee and a very small bun which had a bat in icing on it. The people sorting things out were in a workroom and just the next person with their problem went in so we waited in the cafe area. A pleasant surprise was when a couple came in to sort their radio out, and they were old friends from choir. We had all sung in Ripon cathedral choir and also been involved in the Swaledale festival etc etc, so despite no longer singing in the same choir we had run into each other at times. So it was good to catch up with family and choir news and hear what their next concert was going to be. Then I was called in and it was actually a lady I had seen before. An expert seamstress with high standards, which suits me down to the ground, as she can actually do things to the level I like! I produced my blue trousers to be the length to copy with the new ones, and she had some great little gadgets, rather than pins, which were like miniature little grabbers that held the two garments together which were easy to put on and make sure that things matched. I commented on them and said I would tell a creative sewing friend as they seem very clever and she said that they were used by quilters , of which there are a good few round here. So a useful little bit of information, which I shall look out for some, to use instead of the effort of shoving pins through thick material. for the little sewing I do.

So I did return to the market and town in a better frame of mind, having sorted out the trousers, met a friend and donated to their funds, and by this time I needed to get round the market stalls before they started closing down, as it had taken longer than expected. Got the bits I needed and got the Yorkshire Post , which I hadnt had time to get earlier , and retreated to Cafe Nero's , where I found myself a place to sit, and to let the queue die down, as there were only two young men serving, so definitely short of staff and it kept so busy that they never seemed to have a gap to catch up. There were a few grumbles from people about the delays , but once I had my coffee, I was quite glad to look at my paper, and think about what else I needed to do . Then to Tesco and finally home, feeling absolutely shattered. So it was a case of just putting away essentials and dumping other things down, so that today the plan is to just very simply put things away in the right place, listen to the radio, and read more of the paper, and take my time. I have been awake since before 4am, and expect I may fall asleep at some point, hopefully not in the middle of Private Passions! I will be very happy to have a quiet day at home and recoupe a bit. My son is supposed to be ringing me today , so I shall hear more details of his treatment and what is happening now. If it turns sunny later I may just attempt a walk round the garden and enjoy walking through rustling leaves. I really feel exhausted and with no energy left, and the biggest effort I may make today will be to at least do a bit of ironing.

I hope you are able to get seen soon Mike and they will be in touch early tomorrow, so that you can then carry on with the day you want to. I expect several other GN's will also be up and about at this hour, so will look forward to reading their posts. I did nothing for Halloween and had no visitors trick or treating, but there was quite a lot of clever decorations in shops and cafes etc which brightened up the day.Wishing you all a peaceful and pleasant sunday. May the day go well for you all

Good morning from a misty Bristol.
Yesterday went well. It was better attended than last year, or at least refreshments were. We were busy at all times, with a few hiccups, like the electronic money machine didn’t work, or that we ran out of paper cups. Fortunately, there were china cups in the kitchen.
We had plenty of cakes; the remainder was partly kept back for the live FAB concert on Wednesday. The rest was given to the organisers of the Halloween ghost party in church - always on a religious subtext, and the remains for church refreshments tomorrow.
I was on my feet from 9-5, and came home very tired, but happy it all went well. I did have a lot of help packing up, which was great.
Yes, I know I’m not indispensable (I’m not stupid), but nothing of that sort was done before I came….
Quiet day today in preparation for another OTT week. Once this one is over, my normal routine will return. It’s just that everything seems to happen at once, doesn’t it?
Poor you, md, I hope you get into the cardiac ward soon.hugs to the mountaineers. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
