The Queen was escorted away, she didn’t just walk, the King descended the podium very soon after, looking for an umbrella, he returned, soon to be escorted off too.
A shambles.

How disrespectful of Camilla to walk away when the national anthem was playing!

Actually I can imagine her giggling. My dh doesn’t get amused if I do that in similar circumstances.

I take this a bit more seriously to be honest. I think it was hugely disrespectful to allow the King to stand there in the pouring rain and get soaked. There should have been canopies over the area where they had to stand or some other preparations made. Or failing that a suitable windproof umbrella handed over at the first sign of rain. It was very poor planning and I hope was not done deliberately. After all, there has been some friction around apologies and reparation. 🤔

He was later at least - he smiled with her anyway! I think she’s good for him. He’s always seemed an irascible type of fellow.

Leaky fountain pen (although on an official historical document probably a bit more understandable!). Boy was he cross. I’m glad I wasn’t his lackey I imagine he’d give a right old dressing down to his staff.

I can imagine Camilla laughing about it with him when they were on their own. Wonder if he was amused?

He joked later ‘I could grow watercress on my suit’, possibly through gritted teeth.

Gritted teeth alright. The man hasn't been well after all;Same thing happened to Richi Sunak ( former PM) when he resigned. He just stood there getting drenched. I remember thinking " someone bring him an umbrella FGS."

I was surprised that the king was only given an umbrella when he was thoroughly soaked.
Not planned well.

He certainly got drenched. Surprised no one had a brolly to hand. He didnt look happy. I would have been pretty angry if I were King! Luckily the Queen was passed one quite quickly. You could see the wind was picking up and rain on its way.

Too soft, FGT. The Caribbean climate being what it is he will not have been cold and wet (which is really miserable) and will soon have dried off grin

The Queen later laughed it off as she scurried away with a huge birdcage umbrella passed to her but poor KC got soaked.

Apparently our national anthem was playing and out of respect all were standing and no one moved.

Which I can understand to an extent.

However I think someone ought to have used their common sense in this situation! Did no one look at the weather forecast (very accurate within minutes for Formula 1 racing!).

I felt sorry for the poor chap especially on his cancer treatment and hope his wet linen suit doesn’t bring in pneumonia as he will be severely immunocompromised. Maybe I just worry too much or am too soft?
