I'm feeling very bah-humbug this afternoon!
I spent all morning writing Christmas cards and wrapping presents for the post. I've already told friends and family in Europe that I won't be posting presents any more due to the increased costs and paperwork involved. So, I had one small parcel for my DB in Eire - £11.70 plus a customs form to complete. Then two cards for the EU had embellishments on them, so were a bit lumpy. They had to go as small packages, so £3.25 plus another customs declaration each!
I then went on to do a weekly shop in Tesco. The fruit and veg section was half empty, meat counter closed, fish counter closed, meat costs a fortune (except for chickens for some reason, which were £2.50 each!!).
Has anything at all actually improved since Brexit? I know we've had Covid and other problems too, but all these forms, increased costs and staff shortages I place squarely at the door of Brexit. I'm feeling as if I live in a third world country!
The King is to resume some duties.
