Hi, need some urgent advice please. We have been clearing the house of an elderly relative and have a load of bedding, curtains, blankets etc. These items are not good enough ,in my opinion, for a charity shop, but we can’t give them away! I have rung several local homeless charity's, Salvation Army etc. No thanks they say, off to tip which is sacriledge. Any ideas

Local dogs trust/animal shelter, they are usually grateful for any beddding.

An animal charity might like the bedding.

Are you on Facebook? I would offer them on a local page to whoever could collect.

GG13 is right, animal shelters will be glad of the bedding. I've just seen a request on FB asking for these items.

Yes - animal welfare

Animal shelters for bedding and blankets. If the curtains are not good enough for charity shops to sell they will ‘rag’ them, receiving an amount for each bag collected.

The bottle bank area usually has a container for these.

Join your local trash nothing! Somebody will be pleased to take them off your hands.

Stables?

Dogs shelters

If taking them to a charity shop put them in a bag clearly marked ‘Rags’ it will save the volunteers a lot of time.

Most charity shops sell rag
We got £157 for 140 kilos.
If you know that your chosen charity shop bags rag, please separate the rag from good stuff, it saves us a lot of time 😄

That should read 400 kilos.

Ukraine are asking for these. Do you have a deliverer near you?

Animal charities normally take sheets towels blankets but not duvets or pillows. My local dog rescue shelter are urgently requesting blankets towels and sheets. No heating at all in the kennels so it is quite a miserable existence.

I don’t know whether they’ve changed, but a few years ago we took several old duvets to the Dogs’ Trust - having asked first whether they’d like them.,

Wyllow3 Wed 07-Dec-22 22:29:23

I found local homeless charity which would take just single cleaned duvets - not doubles..

Painters and decorators love them to cover floors while working.

Some churches will be opening up in this cold weather. They always need duvets or sleeping bags.
