According to The Mirror the method currently being trialled (re most often nicked items) goes thus:
Select item on vending machine Touch Screen. Obtain coded receipt and take it to a checkout. Pay for item. Then you'll be issued another receipt. Take second receipt back to vending machine to release required item. Voila!
What could be simpler? What could possibly go wrong?
This will doubtless make shoplifters think twice. And potential customers who may opt to stay home, order online and preserve their sanity. And blood pressure.
