Is there already a thread on this?
From Dec it will be mandatory to add folic acid to flour products. It will be and already is in many products such as sauces puddings and ready meals. No one I have spoken to had heard of this. It will save 200 babies from a birth defect but it seems sinister that the whole population will unwittingly ingest it. Its not advised for several medical conditions. Sign the petition.

It’s a small amount being added, 0.25mg per 100g, I can only see a contraindication for higher doses and I expect any issues will be highlighted on the packaging
If it prevents babies being born with these conditions such as spina bifida, I'm all for it.

Or eat wholemeal?

Much of the UK is already mass-medicated with Flouride!

It is basically vitamin B9.

The only downside to this is that it could mask B12 deficiency.

Unfortunately a lot of pregnant women in the UK eat a poor diet and as a result there are a number of birth defects, the added folic acid should help prevent this.

Even if it’s via a McDonalds or a Greggs it could make a difference.

I’m all for it too. Jax.

Or eat wholemeal?

Vitamin B9 is naturally found in wholemeal bread; this is just adding a synthetic form which was lost during the processing of white flour for bread.

It's a very low amount but anyone concerned should check with a GP or pharmacist.

I'm more concerned about Fluoride, NotSpaghetti.

I don't like fluoride in water either.
But re bread it doesn't have to go in the 100%Wholemeal

Just saying.
