To soap or not to soap? Light hearted.

I read a facebook post from someone who was saying how disgusting it was to rub a bar of soap directly on to your skin when showering or bathing.

Now I might be a disgusting creature but I didn’t know there was a different way to wash. I rub on the soap, lather it up and then rinse.

Apparently civilised and educated people of a higher moral character than I, rub the soap on a flannel and then wash.

All I can think of is all the skin cells and oils being trapped in the cloth and distributed around the body.

I live on my own now so using the bar solo doesn’t affect anyone else, but when there was a few of us at home we all shared the same bar, just rinsed it under running water after using it.

So am I a disgusting degenerate or not? How about you?

Each to his or her own. I don't see a conflict here, just ways of getting clean!
"So what do you do, CT?" (imagined question that nobody's going to ask...)
I use a sponge (lather with soap, scrub body, rinse). I can't believe I even wrote all this; must be getting old (and that's a whole other story...) grin

I do recall a discussion in a comedy show about sharing soap. It was to do with where the last person to use it rubbed it and were you rub it first. Their genitals and bottom. Your face.

People tend not to share flannels so I do see the point.

Perhaps it explains the rise in popularity of liquid soap - which also removes he problem of soap going soft and slimy in poorly-drained soap dishes.

Trouble with liquid soap is the plastic it’s in, and the damage that does, which is why many people have returned to using a bar of soap.

I daresay whethertomorrow by the sound of it, the post you saw was written by some obsessive, germ phobia sufferer who's been listening to an influencer or one of those know-it-all people who gets a kick out of publishing misinformation or shall we just call it rubbish. Or marketing.

Best to do what you feel comfortable with, everything we live with is covered with microbes and bacteria as well as microplastics. I remember seeing a tv programme when I was possibly 11 or so, it was about microbes that live on cheese. I refused to eat cheese for months! Possibly wet sponges etc that are left lying about are attractive to moulds, eek, don't tell the Facebook poster!! Joke.
