Shave or not to shave? I’m as nature intended. Do you go Brazilian, have a landing strip or let it all hang out.

Shave or not to shave? After ladygarden thread, do you go Brazilian, landing strip
or let it all hang out?
I’m as nature intended, plus I’m too lazy. Hair gets thinner too everywhere as time goes by, even grey down there! One can touch it up with a dab of mascara if it’s going to be seen?

Now all body hair disappearing or thinning but in the past just the occasional snip of random escapees round the swimming cossie. Was shaved for one of my 'birth' experiences and regrowth was agonisingly prickly and itchy. Why would you do that willingly? It's not exactly as if it was an area that's in public view. Nakedness happened naturally in my close family though so children learned au naturel not through porn.

It’s not just porn - although that has definitely been a major contributing factor. The grooming/beauty industry has to bear a lot of responsibility for the emphasis on a rise of the unnatural look - fillers, tattooed eyebrows, waxing and so on. Chicken and egg I suppose.

I do life drawing and it's a sign of the times * Deedaa* that female models very rarely have pubic hair.

When I was young much of our sex info was gleaned from jokes at school.
Young ones now are "educated" via porn on the net, which is unfortunately readily accessible.

They therefore think that the norm for the female body is hairless, and this influences what girls (and boys) expect.
Fashion dictated by porn!

hollysteers and MOnica - I've also always felt shaved hair was too close to paedophilia or porn. Hence my refusal to even tidy

M0nica Mon 27-Jan-20 07:37:23

hollysteers, I share your concerns. I have always felt that shaved pubic hair was too closely linked to male paedophilia and/or an unhealthy interest in pornography.

hollysteers Sun 26-Jan-20 23:30:37

Thanks for the laffs folks!
Seriously, I read an unhealthy wish for shaved pubes was that a lot of men liked the ‘girlish’ almost childlike appearance, ugh?. I know it’s also a prerequisite for Arab men in the Middle East.

In one of the agony columns I was reading in the 60s a lady enquired about what parts she was supposed to shave. The suggestion that it might include pubic hair was treated with derision.
How we laughed when I was at Art School and we heard about Ruskin being unable to consummate his marriage because he hadn't realized that women had pubic hair. We'd drawn enough naked women to know that the only hairless ones were Greek statues.

WishIwasyounger Sun 26-Jan-20 20:40:45

I used to shave all off when married to make H happy, but since then have gone unshaven, which I prefer.

etheltbags1 Sun 26-Jan-20 20:25:16

I do lots of swimming so need to shave but I think lady bits are so ugly they need to be hidden, however compared to men's bits they are much nicer.

Greeneyedgirl Sun 26-Jan-20 20:23:36

SirC as I couldn't see your pic clearly (apart from the fact that the item was sold out!) I had to google same and got far too much information which I cannot now erase from my mind ?. One snippet was how to attach the aforementioned item. EEK!!

Doodle Sun 26-Jan-20 20:21:21

Actually, forget I said that blush .

Doodle Sun 26-Jan-20 20:20:16

Ah. Thought it was you maw. Very festive. It was for Christmas wasn’t it. Actually if you had a landing strip you could use the lights to mark out the runway. ?

MawB Sun 26-Jan-20 20:16:40

Doodle blushblushblush

PamelaJ1 Sun 26-Jan-20 20:15:07

Well, I’ve waxed hundreds but I’ve got to do my own tomorrow as I’ll be doing a lot of swimming.
I don’t remove any that I don’t have to, why would I bother?

I had one client who used to check in a mirror to be certain I’d made her runway straight?

Doodle Sun 26-Jan-20 20:08:39

Sorry that should read was it you.

Doodle Sun 26-Jan-20 20:08:13

maw as it you that strung fairy lights in hers # innocentface ?

MawB Sun 26-Jan-20 20:06:20

Don’t like to ask Flexible Friend but how many hairy bushes do you come across in your everyday life?

FlexibleFriend Sun 26-Jan-20 19:55:29

Since the age of around 14-15 my pubes have been very neatly trimmed. I've never had surplus hair to poke out of my cossie but always liked it neat and trimmed. Can't say I've noticed any reduction in hair as I've aged but look forward to it happening. Not a fan of hairy bushes tbh they make me cringe.

NanaandGrampy Sun 26-Jan-20 19:23:52

Why on gods green earth would you put mascara on your pubic hair? Why not go the whole hog and draw them in with a sharpie marker lol!

Iam64 Sun 26-Jan-20 18:44:52

I'm a traditionalist I suppose. Never shaved, trimmed or anything like that. It's not as hairy these days but even in its hey day, it was left au natural and bits that poked out around the swimming cozzie were left to their own devices.

Pantglas2 Sun 26-Jan-20 18:35:20

grin SirChenjin- tee hee!

SirChenjin Sun 26-Jan-20 17:07:48

grin Definitely not something you want to serve on your cheese board!

lemongrove Sun 26-Jan-20 16:42:24

SirC ?being a bit myopic, until I enlarged the pic, I thought it was a cheese selection,I ‘saw’ Double Glos and Wensleydale with cranberries ( or so I thought.)
