Can I just say that Gransnet Head Office were brilliant over the saga of the Christmas Turkey I won. The courier company (why do they do this?) left it outside my house in the pouring rain. A neighbour took it in, but I didn't know.
On Christmas Eve, still no sign of the turkey, I rang GNHQ who contacted the couriers. They'd left it in my porch. No they hadn't, I don't have a porch. Then they said they'd left it with the 4th house along in the terrace (we're the 6th house along). I knew that householder had gone to Spain that morning to spend Christmas with her father, so this was not promising.
Then my neighbour (7th house along!) rang the bell to say they'd got it. But by then we'd had to buy other food for Christmas and the turkey had been hanging around for five days in transit, including three in a well heated hallway. So it didn't smell too clever and I had to bin it! Disaster.
After Christmas, GNHO emailed to ask if we'd enjoyed the turkey. I told the sorry saga briefly and was amazed when they replied that Copas Turkeys wanted to send us a complimentary replacement! That duly arrived and was much appreciated. We fed ourselves and three guests, my partner's adult son had some and I gave a bowlful of cooked meat to our neighbours and their young son. Nine people. Then I made a delicious lentil soup with the carcass.
A huge success and many thanks GNHQ for "going the extra mile"!
