Attention all gransnetters, we're giving away a fabulous set of DVDs worth £199.42 courtesy of the lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox. The bundle includes a huge variety of films and television series such as Modern Family, Bones, The Fault in our Stars, The Book of Life and many more - perfect entertainment for all the family during a miserable month of April showers.

To be in with a chance of winning we want you to tell us which movie you would screen (and why) if you had your very own cinema for just one night. The more funny and outrageous the better. May the Force be with you all smile

*Congratulations trisher, you are the lucky winner. We LOVED the hilarious account of what you would have everyone do whilst screening South Pacific!*

One of the most memorable experiences i have ever had of the cinema, was when i went to the pictures with my parents to see a 1975 classic. My mother screamed the place down in sheer fear, especially at the end. In fact, everyone was screaming, it was like a choir of screams. I was only 9!
Have you guessed what it is, 'You're gonna need a bigger boat', that's right JAWS!!

If i had a cinema to myself for a whole night, i would show the classic that is JAWS, in 3D, everyone would have to wear a shark fins and sing 'Duuuh Duuh, Duuuuh Duuuh'. And don't forget a cardigan to hide under, like my mother did!!! grin

I'd screen The Music Box, the old Laurel and Hardy movie, a real classic and still funny.

LadyChelington Wed 25-Mar-15 11:30:19

Pretty Woman. I can't believe that film is 25 years old. Seems like just yesterday when I went to the cinema to see it!

happysouls Wed 25-Mar-15 11:15:11

I'd watch The Young and Prodigious T S Spivet in 3D. This film has completely thwarted my masterplan, I adored the book and waited for aaaaaages for it to come out as a film, really wanted to have the 3D blu ray version as a special treat. But when it came out it was such a high price I couldn't justify the expense so I've still not seen it.

It has to be The Producers. Who would have thought that a film about producing a musical 'Springtime for Hitler in Germany' could be so outrageously funny. The comic genius that is Mel Brooks that's who and the fantastic cast that he put together. I love it when my husband and two grown up sons sit down and watch this film together, they are all in tears of laughter, and there is no greater tonic in life than laughter.

The Avengers Assemble. Love the Marvel films as do my Hubby & son & we weren't able to see it at the cinema so to finally see it on a big screen would be brilliant.

Guardians of the Galaxy - we are massive Marvel fans in our house and Guardians is my favourite one

13 going on 30 - Mark Ruffalo desperately not wanting to do the Thriller dance and then really enjoying it is one of my favourite scenes of all time! And I really want to learn the Thriller dance too!

compingqueen2013 Tue 24-Mar-15 19:40:20

its gotta be E.T ... you can watch it with anyone... I do love it and watch every year a couple of times... specially during xmas. smile

ziggy2407 Tue 24-Mar-15 17:51:51

I'd get all my girlie friends and we'd watch "Dirty Dancing", swooning over Patrick Swayze and singing and dancing to the fabulous soundtrack

zbody Tue 24-Mar-15 16:57:12

The Man Who Came To Dinner - Its an early Bette Davis Comedy and still makes me giggle (the nurse in it was the grumpy nun in Sister Act !) . Its hardly ever shown and would love mates to see this movie I go on about .

Bobbysgirl19 Tue 24-Mar-15 15:19:17

I would screen Bridget Jones's Diary. An extremely funny film with brilliant acting too.

There would be a complementary glass of Chardonnay for those who wanted it, just to get into 'Bridget' mindset!

However 'big Knickers' will be optional!

Crikey; I'm going to have to think long and hard about this. Having read through the selection of films thus far can I just say that I bought Greyfriars Bobby on dvd to show the grandchildren recently and made a trip up to Edinburgh a couple of years back to see the kirkyard.I saw a newspaper cutting about Bobby in a shop last week but they wanted £70 for it which was more than I could pay, but I would love to have owned it. It's a Wonderful Life is screened at our cinema every Christmas and everyone claps at the end. And, yes, The Green Mile probably 'is' the greatest film ever made [and, sadly quite topical at the moment]. A film I can watch over and over again is Last of the Mohicans. And I'd like to choose a film that would appeal to all ages so the granchildren could watch it as well. However, I'm going to go with something I suggested at our cinema the other week, and that is that I'd love to see a couple of episodes of Game of Thrones on the big screen [it would stand up to that, I know] and I'd advertise it so that fellow fanatics could come and share the experience with me. Final answer [I think]. I'll spend the rest of the day thinking about this [and tittering at the thought of Teetimes family all dressed up as the Adams family and imagining a complete Gothfest when she shows it at 'her' cinema grin].

sylwright Mon 23-Mar-15 21:29:42

there are so many films I would love to see at a private showing but I would have to choose Despicable Me 2, suitable for ages and enjoyed by everybody especially my toddler grandson.

caripook Mon 23-Mar-15 10:05:46

If I had my own cinema for just one night,
Which film would I choose to give me delight,
Where would I start, what would I like?
Comedy, romance or a horror filled fright,
How about a classic for my inner 80s child,
Like Willow or Legend or The Jewel of the Nile,
Mrs Doubtfire or Toys or The Princess Bride,
The Banger Sisters, maybe, oh how can I decide?
Too many great choices, I'm feeling bemused,
Try to think is giving me the Blues
I don't know, so I'll let my friends choose,
Because with 20th Century Fox, I know I can't lose!

nannymeryl Mon 23-Mar-15 08:53:05

Nosferatu, followed by the hammer house of horror Count Dracula.
2 ends of the horror spectrum -scary stuff!

Ruby6918 Sun 22-Mar-15 22:50:35

I must admit i am not a comedy film sort of gal,But, i did enjoy 'The Hangover' also it helped as Bradley Cooper was in it.I thought the antics those fellows got up to were hilarious. And it would be nice to see it again popcorn in one hand,Choc ice in the other arm around my shoulders, Oh the memories lol .

Miriam Sun 22-Mar-15 16:34:43

Untouchable, even though it has sub titles you are so engrossed. It is funny, a little sad and sometimes a bit politically incorrect but the two main actors are amazing each in a different way.
