Attention all gransnetters, we're giving away a fabulous set of DVDs worth £199.42 courtesy of the lovely people at Twentieth Century Fox. The bundle includes a huge variety of films and television series such as Modern Family, Bones, The Fault in our Stars, The Book of Life and many more - perfect entertainment for all the family during a miserable month of April showers.

To be in with a chance of winning we want you to tell us which movie you would screen (and why) if you had your very own cinema for just one night. The more funny and outrageous the better. May the Force be with you all smile

*Congratulations trisher, you are the lucky winner. We LOVED the hilarious account of what you would have everyone do whilst screening South Pacific!*

i would screen Brigadoon as i love musicals and loved watching these films with my granpop and dad and it hasn't been on the tv for a long long time and would love for the younger generation to be able to see the magic of this film

I would screen The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. It's my favourite of the trilogy and I would love to see it on the big screen again!

keshimonster1 Sat 21-Mar-15 21:28:26

I would screen Hook. It is a classic family movie and a credit to the late Robin Williams. All should see it for some feel good family fun x

kaizen99 Sat 21-Mar-15 21:25:49

I would screen Dark Star, a low budget, cult film that everyone can enjoy.

IT'S A WONDERFULL LIFE - I find it very heartwarming every time I watch it!

I can think of no better way to brush up my French than by watching a double bill of Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources. I have a great affection for Provence and its charming villages. Each film is wonderful individually but if they are viewed back to back, Manon gives a deeper understanding of the background and themes of its predecessor. So I'm not being greedy wanting two - they have to be seen together.

I would screen "Gone With the Wind" because I have just finished reading "Ruths Journey" by Donald McCaig & it is a long time since I saw the film & this has given me a desire to re-watch the it.

Ice Cold In Alex - my Dad started his career in the Police as an ambulance driver and used to sit there muttering during the scene where they are getting the ambulance up the sand dune 'you couldn't do that'. He was always annoyed and we used to giggle about it.

Hear no evil see no evil laugh the hole time.

"Lady and the Tramp" - a romantic musical comedy (albeit animated) barking - sorry - harking back to the mid 1950s and my childhood days. An ideal family film with lots of dogs, love, romance, music and Italian food - what's not to like?

sweir1 Sat 21-Mar-15 14:29:51

i think cinema paradiso. Just beautiful

Jezzamk Sat 21-Mar-15 12:59:19

I would screen Amélie (Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) and give away all the seats fro free to anybody who hasn't previosuly seen the film. I might forget to mention that it is French with subtitles as that seems to put people off.

It is probably the best film I have seen. The humour is really dark but it is a feel good film that deserves to be seen by more people.

Hollywood needs to look at this and other films directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet to realise that you can make a great film with a storyline. Just becuase it isn't so packed full of car chases, fights and explosions that there is no time left to tell a story doesn't mean it is not worth watching.

Once, directed by John Carney, with Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. Beautiful music. Excellent acting.
My husband and I went to see it one afternoon at City Screen in York, and we were the only ones in the cinema. We could sit exactly where we wanted. It was like having our own cinema.

badgermum Sat 21-Mar-15 12:05:35

I would screen Forrest Gump as its a brilliant and moving film with great actors and a unique story

grannysmith953 Sat 21-Mar-15 11:51:08

Despicable Me! With Husband, children and grandchildren - we all love it. Minions rule!

ktmd Sat 21-Mar-15 11:39:50

Best Exotic Marigold Hotel because it's funny and sad with a great ending1

BlueNile57 Sat 21-Mar-15 11:04:12

I would love to watch 'Its A Wonderful Life' on the big screen as its one of my favourite films and I've only ever seen it on a tv so to see it up close and personal would be great

Linbrikat Sat 21-Mar-15 10:27:44

Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It's moving, uplifting and funny and goes against the grain by showing nice aliens rather than ones who just want to destroy everything.

chrisfh Sat 21-Mar-15 09:47:38

I'd show The 2nd Best Exotic Marigold Hotel because it is such a feel good movie (and I saw the The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with a large group of friends). I know that all my friends would really enjoy it and it would be great to see it again too.

rachelkanga Sat 21-Mar-15 08:10:33

I would play Coming to America. Having previously worked for McDonald's the similarities are uncanny and it makes me smile.

Sappysar Sat 21-Mar-15 06:52:58

It would have to be Home Alone an absolute classic comedy and great for all the family.

arranmum Sat 21-Mar-15 00:21:21

Porkies, the first time I saw it, I laughed so hard I nearly weed!

pfcpompeysarah Fri 20-Mar-15 21:29:03

Pete's Dragon, it was a classic from my childhood and it made my brother cry, would love to embarrass him by screening it again and watching him squirm when I tell everyone, would ruin his 'tough' image!!

BeHappy Fri 20-Mar-15 21:09:06

The Breakfast Club! Such a fantastic film, no matter how many times I watch it, it never gets old! smile xx
